    Just got the 77" a few days ago. I was apprehensive that it wouldn't be bright enough for me, but once I fired'er up and did a little tweaking in settings, I was dazzled! I didn't know an OLED could get that bright and still maintain perfect black levels. Best picture I've ever laid my eyes on.

    This tv is very well polished just super good! But no oled is a beginner tv lol. This tv can compete with my master series a90j as I've had them side by side and I almost preffered it. Almost! Also the depth is next level good! Somehow the color richness is better on the a80k also.

    • @gbej1
      @gbej1 2 года назад +4

      I have the LG OLED C7 and as well as the A80k. And surprisingly in some scenes it seems my LG is slightly brighter. However, the sharpness, colours and detail on the A80K is ridiculously outstanding. I am finding myself rewatching movies and tv series that I had previously watched on my LG, on the A80K. It is so mesmerising, it immediately catches the attention of everyone who walks into my living room with the TV on.

    • @reviewforthetube6485
      @reviewforthetube6485 2 года назад +4

      @@gbej1 yeah man this is true, the older oled tvs were actually brighter. There is a good reason why also. It's tone mapping those tvs didn't have tone mapping. I'm not talking about dynamic tone mapping either. Like tone mapping helps content track the etof curve. So it will retain detail at times instead of brightness. Back when we had no tone mapping scenes were actually incorrect and overly brightened. So they would clip more often. So in reality these tvs are how ita supposes to look while the older ones aren't. Pretty cool right?
      My c9 was pretty bright also I find it funny though people said older oled tvs were so dim which clearly was false and a rumor. They actually had higher perceived brightness so people who said they were dim back then just never used one. I love when people go oh new oled tvs are brighter. Sure there peak on smaller highlights and high apl scenes can be better. But overall there are times older oled tvs are brighter. But again it just wasn't done correctly back then.
      Enjoy your sony it's amazing, yes the color is so good man! Its way better then previous older oled tvs. Not to mention sony just has the best setting adjustments also. Like you mess with lg settings it doesn't do the same things. Sony settings do alot! They can change everything and you can get as much or as little color as you want. I love sony because it's so versatile. Literally any image you want to get you can with sony. I think the biggest difference as you stated is processing but I will say sony has very special color depth to it.
      The colors are just more dense and deep and I'm sure you noticed that. It's always been that way and I believe always will be that way especially in hdr content! The a80k is amazing and when I had it next to an a90j you won't believe this but I preffered the color of the a80k! If I had to choose between an a90j which is what I own and an a80k this year if I didn't already have the a90j. I would choose the a80k. I feel the color and brightness are perfect how they are. I feel it's a very polished image and the xr processor now is more polished with less little glitches ans bugs. Like no more smearing hair effect or messing up I'm areas with upscaling.
      Don't get me wrong my a90j is the best processing of any tv I've ever owned but it was a first generation of xr so there were some flaws at times. The a80k, a95k seemed to of fixed them and they are just so damn nice! I love all soby tvs tbh between the a90j and a80k they are so close I tell people go with whichever you can get for less! Of course the a80k has a 77 inch so that's a big win since it seems to be the most popular size for bigger tvs. So yeah pretty cool!

    • @gbej1
      @gbej1 2 года назад +2

      @@reviewforthetube6485 Agree 100%. I wasn’t aware of the tone mapping factor which makes a lot of sense. Despite my LG being a little bright, my Sony trumps the overall picture and motion by a significant margin. The only major complaint I have is that the A80k does not come in 83 inch, I suspect Sony are saving that size for next year’s new model of QD-OLED

    • @reviewforthetube6485
      @reviewforthetube6485 2 года назад +3

      @@gbej1 yeah that's the thing it's a polished image, it doesn't need to be brighter. It's bright in the correct areas now. Its actually playing the content much more like the creator intended it to be seen and not clipping the detail out like your older tv would do in the bright areas. Also I'm sure you notice on the sony the smaller highlights actually are bright. It helps with its 3 dimmensionality its tracking rhe content as it should then placing the brightness in the correct areas allowing for that nice look. It's a much better experience tbh. Yeah the a90j comes in 83 inches and since they decided to still sell that this year it makes sense they only went up to 77 inches with the a80k.

    I've been looking at getting a new TV so I'm shopping around. Right now I have the 75" Z9F in my Living Room and love it, does have some blooming, but the clarity/detail/crispness of the picture makes up for it. If I got one in my LR I'd probably go 85", maybe the QN90A or B, but Sony just seems to me more crisp/detailed in it's PQ. If I got an OLED, which I don't have, I'd probably go 77" because of my $3k budget. My only worry about an OLED is the brightness. I tried the 65" C1 a couple years ago and it was just too dim for me, especially in a daytime/bright scene. Dark scenes look great! The PQ was just too dim for me so not sure how the A80K would work for me compared to the C1 and other OLED's and if they are that much more bright. I love the OLED's clarity and great PQ, it's just the brightness that worries me. The 65" A95K looks great, hard to justify paying $2,999 for a 65" though when I can get a 77" OLED or 85" LCD with other models. LG G2 looks good as well in 77". There is also the 75" Z9J, but I already have a 75" in the LR so I doubt it would be much of an upgrade unless it's just eye popping since I have no way of seeing it locally. A lot to choose from so what would you recommend for watching movies/tv shows in 4K and/or HDR?

    The GOT and SM images show no detail in darker portions of the image. Just a face or lights against a solid black background. Despite numerous adjustments I either get adequate dark detail with washed out brighter scenes or jet back in the dark areas especially in dark scenes. Watching Lack Ryan season 3, every scene has vastly different coloration and contrast. If there is detail in the night opening scene in Russia then any daylight scenes are overall too dark. Watching The Chosen, beards are either totally black with very dark faces or, bringing out expected detail causes daylight scenes to be washed out and dark.

    I have a Sony 950G 65" and said that I would wait for my kids to get a little bit older for an OLED. That 77" A80K is calling my name but I don't know if it will really make that much of a difference. I barely watch 4K content and sports are rarely ever shown in 4k. I thinking maybe it will show on my Ps5 since the 650G does not have any 2.1 HDMI ports.

    • @gbej1

      Like you, I pondered for months about getting the 77 inch A80K and I just decided to pull the trigger. First of the all the increase in size makes a massive difference. Secondly, the sharpness, colours and details in the images are second to none. You might not notice much of a difference in the brightness but picture quality will more than make up for it as long as your TV is not right next to a big open window.

    • @4rzaluz
      @4rzaluz Год назад

      If you don't watch 4k the image would look better with a 65inch panel.. since the pixel density would be higher.. the bigger the panel the more noticeable it gets.
