I have an '02 Spec V I bought in 2003, and this video doesn't surprise me a bit. I used to blow Mustang GTs off every day of the week. Right off the bat, the Spec V has about the same power to weight ratio as that generation of Mustang GT, but a broader power band (DOHC vs. SOHC) and higher RPM. Then there's the killer: The Spec V Sentra has a 4.42:1 final drive ratio, as opposed to the 3.27:1 rear end in the Mustang. That, and the close-ratio 6-speed manual with torque-sensing limited slip.... Let's just say the Mustang was lucky he didn't try to keep up with him around any curves. Top speed would be a different story.
What??😂 for 1, that stang should've smoked the Sentra auto OR manual...2, the stang has 3.73 gears not 3.27(would've been gone after 2nd gear..), and 3, a had a 99 New Edge(same as the 04) and that thing was fast as shit..and it was a CONVERTIBLE lol...would've destroyed my current 06 Spec V and it's modded and my stang only had an aftermarket intake....this race was trash and shouldn't have even happened lol
So... here's an interesting thing... Idk what happened at the Nissan factories but, it seems like the QR25 has a ton of variants on internals.... my first motor was healthy and everything even at 230k + miles... I raced a 2008 Camaro SS once, and I kept good with it, I didnt beat him, but the dude also didnt left me for a car lenght, he was automatic, we both fucking sent it, I had no mods at all, just a sentra with good maintenance, not clapped out or nothing just clean... months later I supercharged my QR25 and staged 2 clutch, no short shifter, no tune, stock fuel injectors, motor made 344hp at the crank, lasted for about 6 months of daily driving and going to the strip every 2 weekends haha, this car was quick as hell and I was taking on a lot of 400hp k series hondas and acuras, some light modified Evos and STI's, was beating the shit out of v6s mustangs, camaros and challengers, and couple of those stock v8s (running about the same as them), it was all fun and surprising people on the strips haha... until I blew the motor and bought a new one... it felt a lot weaker than the original motor, it was a certified 46k miles motor, then the balance shaft broke, and messed up my crank, I bought anither motor, it felt a bit powerful than the 2nd motor... but not quite as the first one... then my timing jumped out of nowhere on the freeway, got my pistons and valves fucked, found out the oil pump also wear out completely, and 3rd motor was also a certified 50k miles... bought aNOOther one, a 135k miles just to keep the car as my old daily driver (At this point I was racing an FD RX7 that my uncle gave to me before he passed away)... and the car hasn't failed or anything, I just keep doing stuff to keep it reliable... it's like this QR25 motors are not the same, they also sounded a little different from each other, similar but different, sentras are weird man, and is just the motor, everything else is bulletproof
It might also depend on where it was put together. I would assume that your first qr25 motor was assembled and put together in Japan which is always better. Your other engines could've been from US assembly which is not as good as is in Japan. But I could be wrong u know lol
Spec Vs are famous for making Honda boys cry but wow, didn't think I would see the day when it would anger the fanbase of the live rear axle killing machines known as Mustangs.
That sentra is NOT stock and is a 6 speed. The Gt was clearly stock and not only that, it was also an automatic transmission. Listen to it shift near the end of the video. Spec V's are no joke. They are quick little cars and weight about 800 pounds less than the mustang gt in this video.
I don't know why everyone is so surprised..... A bolt on/tune B15 Spec can go low 14's easily on a street tire, a stock 2V GT is high 14's with a decent driver. (Sounds like this one wasn't) The QR25 is still not as great a motor as the Honda K series but it does make some good low end TQ.
It all Depends on where your running. 99-04 GTs with a decent 60ft (good launch) do see low 14s where I live now because the elevation is only a few hundred feet above sea level. When I was living up north though, 14.80s and even 15.0 for Automstic cars was the norm. Elevation really kills power; my cousins LS2 GTO goes 12.40s here in MD but ran consistant 13.0x when he was in CO for a work event and went to the track.
not sure about the spec v hitting low 14's on full bolt on. I had a 2005 spec v ser with Fujita Cai, Megan header, apex ws2 exhaust, hfc, unorthodox pulleys, jwt balance shaft removal. I kept up with HR 350z but I know it's high 14s or very low 15s. a spec v running low 14 has to be cammed or boosted
That sentra only has headers on..which isn't doing much for it performance wise other than sound. This is a near stock Spec-V... I know, i roll with him.

Ace E. you need a hug or something....my spec v sits at 186whp and shits on gts thats all i can tell you, and alot of those civics you beat on are most likely new to driving stick or just suck at driving. hell there are spec v's shitting on Evo's if you wanna go there...a spec v with the same Whp as a mustang GT is 3X faster than a mustang GT explain that? now i cant speak for the newer spec v's because even i have shit on them, i have owned a 02 , 05 and now have a 2003 spec v and i know 100% the new models seem \ feel slower then my 03. anyone can paste google search posts its not impressive, we can leave it at this since i can tell you are going to be ' THAT GUY '...spec v's are fast, mustang gt's are decent considering if any honda \ nissan came out the factory with 300+hp like mustang gt's, they would be doubling the track times....dot dot dot... dot... dot....

+jake w well since the gold 18's got slick as onions thanks to the new motor and boost so I threw on this set we had in the shop, they had basically brand new tires so I ran em till new rubber came in for the 18's. They're factory wheels so nothing special anyways lol

I mean really great gas mileage, 4 door so I can haul around the kids, and with a press of a couple of buttons, can drag some Mustang and camaro's asses!
