    Hey. So I see there is quite some activity on this video, which is very nice. Unfortunately I had quite a lot of things to do since the release of the video and when recording part 3 I ran into some issues which caused me to spend 2 days on a panorama. Part 4 is recorded as well, but also took quite some time.
    However part 2 is recorded completely and I plan on releasing it in June. Stay tuned!

    Hello Tobías, greetings from Colombia. The Hugin software is extremely complicated and confusing. I've used several other panorama softwares but, although some are simpler, they don't have the possibilities of Hugin. Again, being such a complex software, you have explained the basics in an extremely simple and clear way, with a very clear English. It will be now much more easy to use Hugin. I will download and follow your other videos so I can learn much more. By the way, I prefer film photography in general and I have two panoramic cameras, the Widelux F7 and the Russian Kompakt both excellent. However, I do uappreciate the conveniences of digital so now with your videos I will be able to get beautiful panoramas with my Nikon D3200. Keep up the good work and all the very best EDUARDO

    I have been looking for a good Hugin tutorial for a long long time and I think I have found it at last. I hope in the next video you explain how to stitch a 3D panorama (rows and columns) because that is what I am mainly interested in. Thanks again.

    I have just successfully created a 3 photo panorama , all shot on a tripod. The end result was successful in Hugin, after reviewing the finished product . However onced saved and reviewed in Windows 11 , the result was a miss alignment on the first 2 photos of the panorama , which did not show up in Hugins in the end product. What could have caused this ; any thoughts???

    Can we stitch the videos directly instead of images? Given that the camera is still in both videos we are trying to stitch? Thanks

    Hi Tobias, many thanks for your great explanation on stitching. Please how much overlap should there be in the images to be stitched together for the best seamless output?

    Friend. Does this soft make only panoramas or can I use it to stitch photos like a mosaic. For example, I shoot 4 photos of the moon (4 quarters), two on the bottom and two on top.
    I need to join them to make a full moon. I know I can make it making two panoramas and a third joining the first two, but if the soft manages joining also on top would be easier thanks

    • @tobiaswatzl320

      You can do that, but you have to choose a different panoramic projection or a very small Field of View. Maybe it is necessary to add control points manually, if there is not enough structure for Hugin to detect.

    Hi. I frequently photograph long buildings but I would like the finished panorama to show a rectilinear roof line as opposed to the curved roof line normally produced. Can I do this using Hugin. If so, how ?

    When I click 'load images' I get a pop up box that asks me to enter values for HFOV, Focal Length and Focal Length Multiplier. None of this was covered in the video.

      Hi. Hugin needs some metadata like lens, camera and so on in order to be able to stitch a panorama. Usually Hugin should autodetect all of that parameters, but it seems your images are lacking the metadata. Did you maybe edit the images in another software before? Make sure that the images have the corresponding EXIF metadata and then everything should work automatically.

    Hi Tobias, thanx for Your great tutorial. Do You think, hugin stitchings can replace an ultra wide lens?

    • @tobiaswatzl320
      @tobiaswatzl320  4 года назад +1

      Hi, I think that depends on the context. In some cases I create panoramas which have a larger field of view than what any wide angle lens could produce. Also the resolution is much higher than that of a normal photo
      However the downside is you cannot take photos of moving objects. Also stitching photos which have parallax effects are hard to stitch (e.g. a tram wire or fence in the foreground, which moves relative to the background between images). In other words the panorama subject should be some distance away, which makes it difficult for close quarter. It's definitely possible, but a lot harder.
      My tip: just try it out and find out where you fail to get good results and think if a wide angle lens might be a better choice for such situations.

    Hi Tobias - I am having real problems with a series of photos (3 sets of 5 horizontal portrait) I took of a building using a 35mm lens on a full frame camera. Its similar to what you alluded to it as with ‘fences’ in the foreground, but Hugin seems to have problems aligning all the window frames, drainpipes, door surrounds and so on. No amount of adding extra control points or vertical lines seems to help. I wonder whether this is simply a parallax effect or whether I am simply missing a trick with the settings that I am not aware of. As you are aware of alignment problems are there any tips you can recommend for me to try out? Hugin comes across as an expert user tool but sadly lacking the knowledge base to make it more accessible.

    • @tobiaswatzl320
      @tobiaswatzl320  3 года назад

      Hi Roger,
      from what you describe it sounds like you are really hitting a limitation with Hugin there, due to parallax effects.
      As for expert mode: I also could not find any good documentation, but I usually just use trial and error. Sometimes I too have to admit defeat and accept that some panos will still have artifacts.
      Hope this helps you.
      Tobi

      @@tobiaswatzl320 Thank you for your reply, Tobias. Yes, I’ve concluded its almost certainly a parallax problem, but its useful to know the limitations of the software. I suspect the answer is a panoramic tripod head for subjects like the ‘nearby’ building I was photographing and to keep the ‘freehand’ work to landscapes. I might also experiment with longer range lenses. But when it works, I admit the results are amazing! Regards. R

    Thank you for this. The current tutorial on the site is out of date, so this is GREAT. Can you explain the options on the Output Parameters screen at 14:30 please?
    Liked and Subscribed!

    • @tobiaswatzl320
      @tobiaswatzl320  4 года назад

      Sure. Basically the other two options are if you are shooting HDR panoramas. In that case you will have multiple images for each position with different exposure. E.g. one dark, one normal, one bright. Then Hugin can either automatically align them or create stacks. The advantage is that you can get more even lighting than just with a single photo. I.e. bright areas are less overexposed and dark areas less underexposed.
