      This is pretty much often in use. In Germany cable's of the railroad system are tagged with different DNA sprays to mark them and help fighting cable thieves, because the DNAs can tell about where and when it was stolen and if other cables were stored together e.g. in a truck.

    Just a quick recognition from a person who works in biotechnology.
    0:53 This is a small tube that has a variable range of use. From storing primers (for Polymerase Chain Reaction - To amplify DNA materials to billions of copies) to Probe (for Real-time PCR)
    1:24 That's a text file that contains DNA information. You amplify the DNA to billion of copies then you can send your DNA/RNA sequences to Sequencing Company then a file with A, C, G, T will be sent back to you.
    2:03 That's LightCycler® 96 Real-time PCR machine which can do the Real-time PCR. This is the best one you can get on the pharmaceutical markets since this one can do both DNA amplification (like normal PCR) but at the same time, it can let you know the concentration of the viruses that your blood, organ samples contain.

    I am starting to get terrified about the things scientists and machines can and will be able to do sooner rather than later. It looks a lot like every other horror dystopian sci fi movie ever. Our own lives are starting to look a lot like a dystopian movie honestly. Stephen Hawking himself said we should be more worried about humans and AI than a meteorite hitting Earth or any other natural disaster destroying our planet. He was right. Jeez.

      ARN I conclude that from reading books written by smarter people than you and me who really know what’s going on behind the scenes while we eat pizza on our sofas. And putting info on DNA is strange in itself to say the least, for what reason would you want to implant info on DNA? Unless you are right, they want to edit people’s dna how they please (it could be to help people or not). That’s just the beginning. I also have worked at some point writing articles and researching about new technological advances that are being done in the world as we speak. Things most people know nothing about, yet. Some things are cool, some are terrifying. People always say, it’s just technology. Yeah it is, until it falls in the wrong hands.

    • @azul-t6m
      @azul-t6m 4 года назад +3

      12345678abracadabra Yes, and about the Internet. They were not wrong. You can clearly see the effects of things like social media on people’s mental health nowadays. And that is without counting the dark web, the things we don’t see which are much bigger by a lot than what we see. I grew up in a time where there were no phones, no internet, no nothing. We played outside, we entertained ourselves with our imagination, we were not connected 24/7 but we didn’t need it, and yes we didn’t have access to all the knowledge in the world like we have now (which is the only positive aspect of it all), but that is not even helpful anymore because we are being overwhelmed by billions of data and new info every second. We can’t just focus on one thing anymore.
      Kids right now are 100% dependents of electronics, they don’t know how to search info on a dictionary or Encyclopedia, or read a normal map if they get lost, or fix stuff at home without going online to find how to do it, some kids have lost the ability to properly write papers (some adults too), they have basic gramatical and typographical errors. Every answer is online now so why bother to learn anything that may not look useful now but may be at some point? They will have problems in the future with that if electronics go to shit for some reason.
      Also lots of people find hard to focus on doing one thing at a time, finishing tasks, watching a 2 hour movie, ending a video game, studying, heck reading books has become harder (it has happened to me and I’ve been reading books most of my life). Mentally most people were healthier back then, I can tell you that.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like if/most likely when we'll find a way to make computer work on dna in the same way that it works now with the RAM memory made of silicon, we will have computers even more powerful and efficient than quantum computers, which everyone are trying to develop now. Quantum computer will be able to work with 3 states, unlike the computers we have today which have 0 or 1, and that's why it should be much faster in its calculations than the normal computer. But DNA can work with 4 states! Just think about the possibilities!

    So convert the series to be able to store in DNA then you convert it back in the span of a few years? So the DNA can store the series for thousands of years? Who got high enough to think of this?

    I wonder if in the future, if (or probably when) we do start building computers based on DNA, if we'll simply double up the four sets of base pairs so that two are 1 and two are 0, or if we'll implement a quaternary (base 4) computing system. Quaternary would increase the complexity substantially, but I figure it may allow for far more powerful systems. I suppose technically we may be able to go beyond base 4 since there are more than 4 possible base pairs, just that it's 4 that are used in the DNA in biological life (on Earth).
