Great video. Had my eye on a direct 4x4 canopy for sometime, just couldn’t source the mounting brackets for my bongo with an after market pop top. So now you have got me thinking.
If you have the factory AFT there are brackets on the market already that fit that canopy (from campervan culuture). I've been impressed with the quality of the canopy so far. I use it in my latest video ruclips.net/video/og5njJq7_BI/видео.htmlsi=EKWQr-yPL2x4FgOf Cheers 👍
Really nice brackets, so hard to find things for the Bongos! I’ve had my tin top for 9 years now, drove to South West Spain from Berkshire, also went to Brittany with friends. Apart from the fuel consumption I can’t fault it (2l petrol) Maybe open an EBay shop selling the brackets??👌🏻
Thanks! I often wonder how much extra weight is added with these aftermarket roofs, I bet you get better fuel consumption than mine! Good call on the Ebay shop, I need to get making a few to have in stock to sell on places like that. Cheers 👍
Thanks for video. Just wished her indoors didn't see the video. I think we may need to buy some brackets from you. But won't know for certain until we have had our adventure in Derbyshire next week etc. Cheers from old George and Jane 😅
Hi George, your Bongo has the original AFT roof so you should have a few choices of already existing brackets that are out on the market already (my brackets are only for aftermarket roofs), plus those other brackets will be the clamp on version so much easier to install. Thanks!
Hi There, Great Video..... I've been wrestling with trying to get brackets for a Fiamma F45S 2.6M Awning to fit my Bongo - with aftermarket pop top which sits in the gutter as yours does.. Their own brackets (which are bolt onto the gutter T3 / Bongo type) do not fit the bill as they easily block the path of the aftermarket top's path when it comes down to sit in the gutter. The Fiamma awning has a slot running all the way along its length at the top back, which needs to be used for any brackets to slot up into, so the thickness of any bracket would need to take into account the thickness of the slot.. my question is can/could you provide your brackets to fit the Fiamma F45S Awning, taking into account they need their top to fit into the slot ... Any information wod be greatly appreciated...
Hi , love some the the idea’s you have come away with over the last wee while ,love your new canopy set up. I see you mention about the aftermarket pop top , do you know if your 4x4 canopy fits onto the Mazda original pop top with the motorised motor , I have a 1996 original . Many thanks , keep clips coming 👍👍👍
Hi and thanks for the kind words :) there is a bracket already out there that is designed for the original pop top to fit these canopies. They are on the campervan culture website here - campervanculture.com/shop/cvc-produced-awning-mounting-brackets-for-mazda-bongo-fits-arb-style-awnings/ I hope that helps!! Cheers 👍
@@VantasticIdeas thank you , ans ouch , just clicked the link 😄😄 boy are they expensive , 😚 I wonder if they know us bongo drivers like things cheap 😂😂😂
@@ScottGoody71 Yep, very costly!! but very well made. If we just had tintops with roof racks, the brackets that came with the awning would work perfectly, ahh well :)
Hi Gordon, there's a bracket designed specifically for the AFT roof Bongo for these canopies from a company called campervan culture. It's quite pricey, but looks superb quality - campervanculture.com/shop/cvc-produced-awning-mounting-brackets-for-mazda-bongo-fits-arb-style-awnings/ Also there is a guy on the facebook group called Dave Westgarth that does brackets for AFT roofs, but I don't know if his fits these style of canopies? worth checking with him. I would happily develop a bracket myself for AFT roofs if I had access to a van with and AFT roof. Cheers!
Hi, it's 2.5m x 2.5m. Do you have the same roof as mine? Drop me an email about the brackets before ordering so I can just make sure they are correct for you - info@vantasticideas.co.uk
Brilliant job well done great idea
Thanks 👍
