i don’t think people have raved about the makeup enough, personally. so often makeup in games is like the blockiest eyeliner or war paint. which is fine if that’s what you want but i want to be yassified af!
The decorative body and face scars are definitely meant as some sort of ritual scarification-type thing. Could be used for religious or cultural purposes, or just because it looks badass, I guess. EDIT: The Human, Warrior, romancing Harding thing is exactly what I'm doing for my first playthrough. How did you know?! 🤣
sorry to keep commenting, but the human, dwarf, and elf hair is just so amazing! I am going to be shaking my Rook about in the CC for like 7 hours straight.
I do find it *very* strange that most of the scar options are decorative scarification designs and not, like, healed wounds. I've never seen a character creator do that, and for good reason, because why would you? It reminds me of how bad the scars were in Andromeda and how most of them were these huge energy burns across Ryder's face rather than anything simple and subtle.
I was originally going to play a Qunari, but after watching this video I'm definitely choosing Elf or Human. That long, curly hair option is gorgeous. Definitely doing that! 😅 Thanks for the coverage. I watched the whole video. Good stuff 👍
I so hope they give us at least a couple of extra days with the character creator before they launch the game so I can really take my time designing my Rook before I play the game.
I agree, the scars is the part I am disappointed with the most. My inky has a very specific mouth scar which I won't be able to recreate now. It'll feel a bit odd having her without it
Not only listening to you talk but also enjoying you talk about having social anxiety at the event. I've never related to a content creator harder in my life😂
I'm so torn between what to make first . A Qunari Grey Warden, A Dwarven warden , or a humane Trevinter Mage . All Three sound so fun and I have a different personality for all three. Love your videos, your love for Dragon Age is obvious in every video I've seen you do.
you could try doing what i do. chose which one to start with by which romance you think each one would go for. so whoever you want to romance, go with the Rook they’d probably be most attracted to💀💀
I am not usually one to make dwarf characters but these dwarves are kind of sick. might have to make my first Canon dwarf character for a DA playthrough.
I totally get how you felt at the party/event. I would hope that BioWare and EA know how many of us are introverts, have social anxiety, are ND, etc., etc. I hope you're not torturing yourself over anything. I appreciate you taking one for the team. Great point about fandom =/= the mainstream, too. I'm really glad to see the character creator in action and to know that we can change things almost immediately, too.
Good to know about the lips! My character has a cleft lip scar, which ik I won't be able to make in the cc, but I want to get as close as I can. My inquisitor is also in her 50s, she's an Adaar. I'm excited I get to give her a curly hairstyle now, like I've always drawn her with. So stoked for this game. Used your code for my preorder!
your commentary is so real! I would love to have the opportunity to go to one of the early events.. but then I remember that talking to people is hard, and I just want to play Dragon Age
I would've preferred the sliders for the curves to be be more generous for the simple reason that I like to self insert in RPGs in general and create an MC who looks like me and plenty of us women have more pronounced curves than the A/B/C cups most RPG CCs provide us with so that's slightly disappointing for me personally! (Bg3 is a recent example of very limited body types). I adore the hair though, it looks SO good they really nailed it! To be clear this slider thing won't deter me from playing in the least and it's absolutely not a deal breaker but it would be nice to have more body types be included when the slider is right there! Hopefully the mods fix that at some point but regardless I will be happy if DAV delivers on the lore, the story, companion relationships and world building and it seems like it will so I'm choosing to look on the bright side lol like I've been wanting this for more than a decade and I'm super excited!
Might have to wait a while then. I've heard from some community forums that Veilguard uses the Frostbite engine. Unfortunately, games using this engine are notorious for being non-mod friendly. ☹️
@@imjungs00 Oh that sucks :/ thanks for letting me know. My first playthrough is usually always unmodded but maybe by the time I get around to my second or third a workaround could be found. Here's to hoping anyway!
I would've loved an option to give my character a bigger bust, but it's probably not possible because of the animations, especially romance animations. Like, imagine your character giving Harding a nice hug, and she sinks through her boobs lol. Still, it kinda sucks not to have that representation. I wonder how the difference in possible heights and waist/shoulder sizes would affect the animations too.
I have a habit of makin female leads so you’re makin me wanna use #39 the more I look at it😅…42 is pretty good too lol.. but 51 that’s spot on for the character I’m looking to create👌🏽
7:30 yes there’s a very weird subset of people on twitter who loose their mind every time a female model in a game doesn’t look exactly like an anime girl 😂
Omg the crying of "so i guess women cant be feminine 😢" and it will be on a video featuring a very feminine looking rook. Or one with Harding or Neve. Those people are so broken by anime and p*rn. They've never seen a real woman before.
@@inkygreenwho cares about real woman? Even real women want to have big asses and breast or why do you think beauty surgery exist? On the other hand bioware includes top surgery scars so why not including breast implants then? What a joke bioware and you people are.
@@ducky36F right? 😂 Neve is gorgeous and very feminine looking. Harding's slight redesign from Inquisition made her look more feminine to me too. Or at least softer. And ive seen alot of rooks that are very clearly going for a feminine appearance. But nothing can convince those people that these characters are feminine or what realistic women look like. Wait til people inform them that women can also look masculine or androgynous and STILL be women (in games and irl). They couldn't handle it.
The first Qunari Rook I make will definitely be a male Grey Warden (because we’ve never had one, to my knowledge), not sure about class yet (either warrior or mage) & will romance either Taash, Harding or Bellara.
OMG YES! a fellow Qunari rook 🥰i agree with all ur points about Qunari's cc. Iam also disappointed on the number/ types of hairs for qunari I feel that there isn't enough long hair or hair with fringes... And looking at some of the other races long hair ( looking at tht long curly hair🥲 ) I feel they could have added some of those in. From a game developer pov, it might be because of the horns 😭 to avoid clipping. Despite all tht, i trust my cas sim skills to bring something satisfactory to myself .🤣 Cant wait!!! 25 more days to go!
The fact that Harding (my favorite ginger dwarf!😍🥰) is FINALLY romancable, makes it the canon romance for me. I dont mind the action combat either. Just hope theres some nice post game content or NG+ etc. I just pre ordered the "rooks coffer edition" with the physical copy on ps5 from gamestop Canada. This game is my main focus and game of the rest of 2024. October 31st cant come soon enough!!! 😭🙏 Btw thats the cutest little censor bar ive ever seen. Lol😂😅
With the presets/heads, I'll be curious to see how different we can make the faces look if we switch up the three heads that the slider is using to generate. Most of the faces I've seen so far seem pretty angular, but most of the CC footage I've seen so far keeps the three heads that whatever preset they clicked on were using, so it will be interesting to see what the other 30 (I think?) heads to pick from offer.
You can make the faces look completely different. I've seen some that look like amalgamations of pure body horror. I don't remember what video it was from, unfortunately. It seems you can do a lot with the face but body sliders are super limited for some reason.
@@lordfickle8900 the fact that we have body sliders is a huge leap. The limitations are likely there to preserve animation qualities and armor fitting. We didnt have body sliders at all in the past 3 games. And games like baldurs gate 3 also didnt have body customization. I know its disappointing that the limits dont go far enough. But the general reactions being so negative about it doesnt make sense when this is the first time we have ever gotten body sliders in the first place
@@inkygreen Hey I'm not complaining, I'm just stating the facts lol. Compared to other games like Dragon's Dogma 2, the body sliders are definitely limited but I'm not as bothered by it like some people are. I'm just happy I can finally make an elf that isn't a humanoid twig like in Inquisition.
@@lordfickle8900 i know you're not. I meant the general reactions have been. Lots of people complaining specifically about the boob and butt sliders. Because some people cant stop being horny for like 5 minutes to use their critical thinking brain.
Not just highlighter, but there are blush/highlighter combos, basically shiny blushes lol. Some call them blush toppers, they tend to be darker than your typical highlighter. Some brands mash names together, like a bronzer/blush combined together has been called a blonzer, etc.
I don't understand why BioWare is not allowing you to show Inquisitor customizations, since it is the same character creator as the main character? What's up with that?
I think it's a business thing- IGN was allowed to talk more about it, so I assume they have the early access rights to talk about it and we dont? I really don't know though.
This is the moment I became one of the real ones. FD I'm also working with my back turned, and so I need to know when to turn and look. My GF thinks you're a teacher based on listening. She is a teacher, it's like a quickening
Damn, it's me, the human warrior who romanced Cassandra, I'm the statistic. (Probably won't be romancing Harding, though, Neve is calling to me too strongly.)
Oh boy, you yelling at your headphones that they “aren’t even that old!” made me really laugh out loud. And yes I am in fact listening to you talk the whole time, and I do really like your content. So. :P Edit: also you should know that you only managed to censor one of the two titty shots we got 😂
It's called a cupid's bow, that little dip on the upper lip. Not sure what the scientific term is or if there is one 😂 anyway thanks for the video 😊 also no Dragon Age character has ever had big boobs, never. They should not be complaining this much about it. Ppl loved the CC in Bg3 & that game wasn't as extensive as this.
There was Isabella but she is more the exception of course than the rule. They have a realistic reason for not pushing the sliders more. It will mess up the armors fitting and animations. The fact that they still pushed to add any body customization at all is huge.
@@inkygreen as someone who is extremely blessed in the chest her's weren't that big to me (slightly above average) but I'll agree it's an exception because they were bigger than the majority.
As someone likely starting with a human warrior romancing Harding, I feel rather called out. 😅😂 Seriously though, thanks for the video. While there are little quibbles, this does look like a really advanced and fun creator. I just hope that I can get my Qunari Inquisitor right with this.
The comment/reasoning about the chest and glute size being more noticeable in armor actually makes sense to me, its possible they're using a somewhat different body model for the underwear/nude model of Rook
i will probably also just chose a bob for the first round haha, keeping it real. oh i'm definitely listening to you ramble for the whole hour haha. i've been trying to avoid spoilery info, yet if i don't get like a daily DAV fix i get anxious so, this works thanks Caitie! I'm not a game dev, but it seems like keeping the scars from inquisition would have been pretty easy, adding more obviously. though i guess you can move those around...i kinda liked the ability to move them around.
Those qunari hair options are upsetting to me i would have loved if they had just given us an option to have different fringes on each of those hairstyles as having a fringe seems to go a long way to covering up that excessively large forehead. I also really dont like how smooth everything is. Other than that good video.
can not wait to play with this my self, I already know I wanna make a Qunari mage Rook, but will likely play with all the races first just to see what they all look like.
Great video, thanks 🥳💜 Even though I think there are a lot of good things in this CC - I do think Bioware hyped this creator a bit much. The hair is awesome and lashes and top surgery scars, but some basic things like highlights for the hair are missing (?), cannot choose a separate mouth (and eyes?) can’t mirror the scars or choose their exact placement, no piercings, cannot customise teeth? I also sincerely hope that the skin tones get fixed. It is odd that they’re locked into a preset rather than just making the selection the same for everyone. It’s an extra step for those who want to make a darker toned Rook. Like you said, this is still the preview build so hopefully they have some stuff added in the final build and/or have plans to upgrade and patch the CC after release. Again, great coverage and thanks for sharing it with us🥳💜
Aaaaah, watching the hairstyles section, and just style after style of just 'no, no, no - heeeellll no' and then, 57 - FINALLY! A short, somewhat messy hair. My silly frost mage elf Inquisitor and my 'me' Inquisitor from another world state sighed with relief. They both had the short messy hair in Inquisition and I was dreading not being able to recreate that - 57 isn't exact, but it definitely fits the style, especially after 10 years! (Still unsure what my main world state will use - female dwarf with long hair =_=)
As a guy who romanced Cassandra and will probably be a human warrior romancing Harding, I am unsure if I should be offended or not for getting called out like that lol
i enjoy lisening to you, even if its not about anything thats happening in the video, but personality wise, we are the same, i just dont make videos, i watch them XD
"The Inquisitor customization is the exact same as Rook's" - oh noooo IDK what I'm going to do, I've kind of always just made my characters look as much like me as possible, and relied on the fact that they're in different games to give them different overall looks. Like my "me" Warden is an elf but she looks very different from Inquisition elves and they've never had to appear in a game together. and Hawke is human so she ends up different. (OK Yes I'm not an elf in real life, except IN MY MIND) But it's going to be hard for me to differentiate my Inquisitor and Rook if I go into the character creator with no plan on how to differentiate them. They're gonna end up like the spiderman meme. I mean I GUESS I could play Rook as something other than an elf, but I have to be self-aware... that's not likely. I'll try to age my Inquisitor up but, as you say, options for that are gonna be kinda limited.
@@SmartySkirt Haha good idea! I'm now elaborating on a backstory where my Inquisitor's dad was a twin and the twin turned out a mage so he moved to another clan at some point, they both had kids, clans haven't been roaming the same parts for a while so they just never met. I can make this work!
I think the most popular hairstyle is going to be 36, the bun with the long bang on the left side. I've seen several videos of people where they end up choosing it, and it's just a really nice, all encompassing hairstyle, it's practical but flowy, has that uniqueness and character to it. You have it on your character at 43:30 and it just looks great, and it does on almost every single character we've seen people make so far.
Right. My take-away is: Chose the Rook preset with the nicest mouth and fix the rest 😂
Yeah, that's pretty much how I'm going to start, haha!
So the standard DA plan, love it.

i don’t think people have raved about the makeup enough, personally. so often makeup in games is like the blockiest eyeliner or war paint. which is fine if that’s what you want but i want to be yassified af!
Such a missed opportunity not to add earrings and piercings in CC😢
It'll feel a bit odd having her without it
I don’t get how they could leave that out but include top surgery scars…
@@Tate_THG
Fucking leave, no one wants you here. Shoo shoo, git!
@@Tate_THG ?
@@Tate_THGincluding scars for trans people or people with breast cancer isn't the issue mon ami. You're bringing up an irrelevant point.
my inquisitor also had some very deep prominent scars on her cheek and it'll be sad that that she won't have that in this game.
im gonna choose the longest hair there is and as darkest purple that there is
58 minutes, oh my what a treat! ❤
58 minutes of bliss
Looks like there's no option for Qunari without horns? Guess my Inquisitor will have grown some since the last game 😂
Not only listening to you talk but also enjoying you talk about having social anxiety at the event. I've never related to a content creator harder in my life😂
This was great footage and narration. Don't be so hard on yourself! Thanks for doing this!
Thanks for doing this, I just love seeing character creation videos.
I'm so torn between what to make first . A Qunari Grey Warden, A Dwarven warden , or a humane Trevinter Mage . All Three sound so fun and I have a different personality for all three. Love your videos, your love for Dragon Age is obvious in every video I've seen you do.
you could try doing what i do. chose which one to start with by which romance you think each one would go for. so whoever you want to romance, go with the Rook they’d probably be most attracted to💀💀
I’m going to play a Qunari Mage Warden, an Elf Mage Mournwatch, and a Dwarf Rogue Crow
I'm really glad to see the character creator in action and to know that we can change things almost immediately, too.
perfect end to the video 😂
Thanks for posting this Caitie! It’s helped me envision a little more what I want my first Rook to look like! ❤
I love the dark circles!!! My Lavellan is soooooo going to have those😂
Dwarf gent should get a Pantene commercial with the super-long hair.
your commentary is so real! I would love to have the opportunity to go to one of the early events.. but then I remember that talking to people is hard, and I just want to play Dragon Age
I absolutely love your nervous laughter throughout the entire video😭Every-time you laughed I laughed with you😂Definitely subbing to you.
Ghil your laugh makes me so happy
(whistles innocently in having my canon inky be a human warrior who romanced Cass...) 😅

HOW 😭
@@phoenixwolf6779 haha- due to video schedules I needed to release this today, but I had it unlisted for a few days to help people with a few things!
What you said about the shape of the mouth and presets might be the most useful advice about this character creation. Thank you, I'll keep it in mind!
@@ranar.582 Anytime. Hope you enjoy yourself!
@@imjungs00 Thank you 😊 you too!
For the hair clipping threw the ears, as I understood, you can adjust the scalp to correct it :)
I have a habit of makin female leads so you’re makin me wanna use #39 the more I look at it😅…42 is pretty good too lol.. but 51 that’s spot on for the character I’m looking to create👌🏽
I'm thoroughly enjoying the video, voiceover and all! 😂
@@inkygreen even towards the end of the video where Catie is messing with the elf you can see it won’t be hard to do. And heck, Neve is right there 😂
@@ducky36F right? 😂 Neve is gorgeous and very feminine looking. Harding's slight redesign from Inquisition made her look more feminine to me too. Or at least softer. And ive seen alot of rooks that are very clearly going for a feminine appearance. But nothing can convince those people that these characters are feminine or what realistic women look like. Wait til people inform them that women can also look masculine or androgynous and STILL be women (in games and irl). They couldn't handle it.
@@inkygreen I wonder why. Maybe because these days what you broken people consider a "real woman" is a man.
The first Qunari Rook I make will definitely be a male Grey Warden (because we’ve never had one, to my knowledge), not sure about class yet (either warrior or mage) & will romance either Taash, Harding or Bellara.
I'm a simple man. I see a 1hr CC video and I upvote.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY DRAGON AGE DOGMA FEMALES ARE CUTE BUT NOT DRAGON AGE FEMALES
OMG YES! a fellow Qunari rook 🥰i agree with all ur points about Qunari's cc. Iam also disappointed on the number/ types of hairs for qunari
I feel that there isn't enough long hair or hair with fringes...
25 more days to go!
thank you for using the fat slider, haven't seen many other creators touching it at all
The fact that Harding (my favorite ginger dwarf!😍🥰) is FINALLY romancable, makes it the canon romance for me. 😭🙏
Btw thats the cutest little censor bar ive ever seen.
@@lordfickle8900 thanks! this makes me ever more excited as someone who loves to make eldritch horrors in RPGs
RUclipsr Kala Elizabeth was able to show the Inquisitor.
@@sonnenblumefrau2048 Oh man I love her art!
This is the moment I became one of the real ones. FD I'm also working with my back turned, and so I need to know when to turn and look. My GF thinks you're a teacher based on listening. She is a teacher, it's like a quickening
I love the character creation!! Thank You for Video.
I wish they put more bangs in, the hairs that have them look very good!
The scars is my biggest disappointment, because my Inquisitor's scars were so prominent and I feel essential to her look.
So. :P
Edit: also you should know that you only managed to censor one of the two titty shots we got 😂
Wow I will be spending hours in this. Nice job
I wish there was more long tied or braided hairs for the Qunari
It's called a cupid's bow, that little dip on the upper lip. Not sure what the scientific term is or if there is one 😂 anyway thanks for the video 😊 also no Dragon Age character has ever had big boobs, never. They should not be complaining this much about it. Ppl loved the CC in Bg3 & that game wasn't as extensive as this.
There was Isabella but she is more the exception of course than the rule. They have a realistic reason for not pushing the sliders more. It will mess up the armors fitting and animations. The fact that they still pushed to add any body customization at all is huge.
@@inkygreen as someone who is extremely blessed in the chest her's weren't that big to me (slightly above average) but I'll agree it's an exception because they were bigger than the majority.
imagine running and fighting with big boobs
As someone likely starting with a human warrior romancing Harding, I feel rather called out. 😅😂
Seriously though, thanks for the video.
I would watch an hour of you rambling just for your infectious laugh.
20:50 I know what you're talking about exactly! My "chipmunk" inquisitor sends her regards
i will probably also just chose a bob for the first round haha, keeping it real. oh i'm definitely listening to you ramble for the whole hour haha. i've been trying to avoid spoilery info, yet if i don't get like a daily DAV fix i get anxious so, this works thanks Caitie!
I'm not a game dev, but it seems like keeping the scars from inquisition would have been pretty easy, adding more obviously. though i guess you can move those around...i kinda liked the ability to move them around.
I am hesitant to pick any super long hair styles because I know something will always clip
I cannot wait to get my hands on this CC oh my days
Bioware pls
Early cc release and my life is yours
Yooooo Monster Factory call out! I should have known you were a woman of good taste.
don't worry, gaming twt is really weird about female characters not looking feminine, lol
Great video, thanks 🥳💜
Even though I think there are a lot of good things in this CC - I do think Bioware hyped this creator a bit much.
Are there any piercing options? I don't remember seeing any in CC-videos...
Sadly no :(
That Cassandra romance artist - I wonder if it was me you’ve seen hahahaha. (Though I only used to post in tumblr)
Anyway, thanks for this video!
I'm wondering when you would post your content. This is dope!
I wish the content creator code worked on steam, the EA App seems very extraneous
(OK Yes I'm not an elf in real life, except IN MY MIND)
But it's going to be hard for me to differentiate my Inquisitor and Rook if I go into the character creator with no plan on how to differentiate them. They're gonna end up like the spiderman meme.
I mean I GUESS I could play Rook as something other than an elf, but I have to be self-aware... that's not likely. I'll try to age my Inquisitor up but, as you say, options for that are gonna be kinda limited.
Just pretend your elf is the inquisitor’s younger cousin I guess? 😅
I wonder if they’ll actually give us cc before launch
Oh this looks good 👌
Idk why but the moment I saw all the characters walk forward instantly I was like "Oh yeah, we are so back."
"Human Women romancing Harding" I never been called out so hard in my life.
Thanks for doing more female characters in character creation, I wanted to see more possibilities when making a female character as a woman ❤
Hey. Love the video thx for showing every hairstyle🙏🏼 but a question can we change the hairstyle while playing the game?
Yes, there will be a vendor where you can change your appearance later :) (called black emporeum)
@designlover945 didn't they say the mirror is in the Lighthouse?
@@designlover945 thank you:) good to know
@@zahierabaloch8118 That could be, I just heard that you can change your appearance very early on.
The elf you're sampling in the character creator looks like Angelina Jolie. :)
