In hostel we Physics students were listening to the commentary. When the command module entered the atmosphere the connection was cut. It took longer than the usual time to re-establish connection, & we were waiting with anxiety. When the connection re-established there was jubilation & we were very happy. James Lovel became our hero, because he was also an astronaut in The Appollo 8 mission, which took humans for the first time around moon's orbit.👍

Just a small info… Crossing the van allen radiation belts poses a challenge for humans due to the intense levels of radiation. This is the current situation, how it was possible in 1968,1969?
