FINALLY! A reactor recognizes the BRILLIANCE of the Christopher Walken/Dennis Hopper scene! Way to go Dawn! It's one of moviedom's greatest scenes, with two of its greatest actors.

    • @randallwilliamson3838
      @randallwilliamson3838 4 месяца назад +8

yeah, but in most reactor's defense, the subject matter is touchy enough that I think it effects their ability to understand how utterly fantastic that scene is. It is absolutely one of the greatest scenes ever filmed. I watched the movie around the time of release and you could enjoy it without feeling like it made you some type of way if you enjoyed it.

@@randallwilliamson3838 If a reactor doesn't react honestly, I'm not very interested in their reaction. It is after all, just fiction. And I've seen several people just have no reaction at all to that scene because they were scared of what others might say about them. That's disingenuous. We can love a movie or a scene even though it has bad words, bad actions or bad people in it.

I'm assuming you haven't driven an older car. The reason you see people mimic drving like that in older movie is because in older cars the steering was much different than in more recently made cars. I have a 1969 Oldsmobile , & it takes just over 6 full turns to go from all the way right to all the way left, and vice versa. Newer cars do the same in about half that. So what that means is that driving an older car down the road, you have to constantly adjust it back and forth to keep it going in a straight line. For another example, to make a turn in an older car, you might have to turn the wheel almost 3 full turns, where with a newer car it might only take one turn to do the same thing.
Drive for awhile in an older car and then switch right away to a newer one you'll see the difference very quickly. If you're not careful you could easily get in an accident. I hope that clears up for you why they do that.

I don't know much about the pain from a bullet, so aside from the penetration of ones skin, or even the shrapnel dispersing inside oneself (if that is the type of bullet used vs it stays intact), what did make me understand a bit about what actors are portraying in that moment that did convince me to not look into it any more than I could have, lol, is this... the temperature of a fired bullet can be up to 500°F. So it's not so much a hot potato that bounces between your hands before you throw it away that you feel, it's a hot nugget lodged inside of you that you can't get rid of and is searing the flesh it's in contact with.

    Wee bit of trivia:
In the original script (also filmed), Clarence dies in the shootout, and Alabama takes up crime. In the original script for Reservoir Dogs, Mr. White reveals, in his flashback scene, that he is partnered up with her. I've seen a lot of reactors ask if Walken is Blue Lou. Nope. Blue Lou is Samuel L Jackson. Walken played Vincenzo Coccotti. Anyway, pure brill as always, Dawn, cheers!

Finally, we've been waiting forever for this movie to be on your channel because we knew you would be blown away by it.
I know you like to know some interesting things about these movies, so here's a few fun facts for you.
    1. The director is Tony Scott, the brother of the legendary director Ridley Scott.
    2. The part of Alabama was originally supposed to be played by Joan Cusack ( John Cusack's sister ), and then bounced over to Drew Barrymore, but eventually was given to Patricia Arquette. ( Sister in law of Countney Cox from FRIENDS )
    3. The opening scene in the theater finished with a theater usher walking down the aisle with a guard dog yelling at the customers to leave. The usher was played by Jack Black. But in the final edit the scene was left out of the movie because of time constraints.
    4. The mere mention of Elvis Presley was the only concession allowed by the Presley family estate. The producers were served a cease and desist order by Presley attorneys, not to use any of his actual music or his likeness. This is why you never actually see Elvis's face in any of the scenes where Christian Slater is talking to Val Kilmer in the bathroom. The idea that he's talking to Elvis's ghost is simply implied there.
    5. Some of the props that Gary Oldman used to bring Drexel's look together were actually the props he used on Brahm Stoker's Dracula. Namely, the fake colored contacts in his eye. The dreadlocks were created by the same costume designer who made his wigs that he used on Dracula too.
    6. Originally, he wrote True Romance in 1984, and filmed it and starred in the role of Clarence. The original version was titled " My Best Friend's Birthday".
    7. True Romance was supposed to be Tarantino s directorial debut movie, but he sold the script to Tony Scott and he focused on Reservoir Dogs instead.
    8. The idea you spoke about on this video reaction about how you thought maybe the whole story was a dream that Clarence had or a hallucination was actually a real idea that Tarantino had for this movie. But he felt the script was much too long to fit in one movie. So he split it in two parts ( kinda like how split Kill Bill in two parts ) and instead he used the crazy violent dream concept for another script he wrote, and sold it to Oliver Stone. You might have seen that movie, it's called Natural Born Killers. Tarantino absolutely hated the changes that Stone made to the script, so he completely disowned any connections to that movie. Seriously, to this day, interviewers are prewarmed NOT to ask him about it. ,
    9. Val Kilmer desperately tried to get Tony Scott to cast him in the lead role of Clarence. But rumors have it that he had issues with Kilmer when they worked together on Top Gun, and he was turned away from the lead and it was given to Slater instead.
    10. The movie is a cult favorite movie lovers and critics despite it being a massive failure financially. After costing $12.6 million to make, it barely earned $12.5 million globally, so in the end it turned a profit of less than a hundred grand.
    11. The role of Clarence was originally supposed to be played by the star of Revenge of the Nerds, Robert Caradine.
He turned it down. ( Whatta dumbass 😂 )
    12. The original ending had a tragic ending, Clarence died in the shootout and Alabama flees to Cancun, Mexico by herself and is pregnant with Clarence s baby and has to raise him as a widow.
I have many more facts, but that's all I have time for right now. Have a good day! ☺️
