Rwanda was given more the $400 million by the former UK government as part of the controversial Migration Deal. The new British government has scrapped the deal, and was hoping to get at least a partial refund. Rwanda has set the record straight. It has no intention to return the British money. The migrant housing it built will be going to Rwandan citizens instead.

By all accounts Rwanda has improved a great deal since the genocide, so there are probably much worse places now that the UK is spending more money in aid to.
