  • Just wow!!
Clients Ann and Dan have done a stellar job of maintaining this installation that we installed last November.
It held up through the winter with only minor damage to some of the aloes and a few random small things rotted.
Be sure to watch to the end to see a before photo!

Laura, I am in China, I love watching your videos. Most Chinese people don’t own their own garden, a semi open air balcony is a luxury. And that’s how most of chinese succulent lovers in China keep their plants, in small pots in the balcony. Your creativity, various plants and big space to design the tapestry always amaze me. That’s something I cannot imagine that would happen to me.

Ann and her husband are a testament to your great work, Laura. Their care and attention to their garden Is so evident. Congratulations to California gardeners who are recognizing the need for a change in their environment and lifestyle due to water shortage and restrictions. Succulents are absolutely the today and the future and they make the most beautiful garden. The State of California should have Hannah in some public service commercials (well paid, of course) to educate gardeners to a brighter future...in my very humble opinion. Enjoy some vaca time after your next installation.

It's really her signature style of staging plants that makes the gardens look so lush. She really has an eye for what areas should be blown out and what areas to restrain and go with specimens spaced further apart.

The cool thing about this is. You don't have to choose one or the other. You can have your cake and eat it too enjoying the best of both worlds. These succulent gardens especially these ones Laura does are amazing for front yards with looking great while being low maintenance and low on water. So you can have a really nice looking presentable front yard that you don't have to really work on much at all.
Or even the reverse, since succulents are great in smaller areas. Some locations backyards are much smaller than front yards so you may want it in your backyard instead. They make great low maintenance container gardens for those areas. You can make it look really cool with different sized fancy pots with tall narrow succulents in those small backyards. Those small backyards in desert areas many people just end up not even using them since they can be so ugly it's hard to know what to do. Like a 70% UV mesh and cool succulent pots and a nice tabled sitting area for those small backyards to make it usable and just have a fan and you are set. I've seen it done in Vegas and it's really practical and makes it a usable enjoyable area instead of "death valley" lol.

The sedum apple snaps looks great with mint truffles. Also your recent update of the coral reef in UTC area reminded me.. when I’m at a loss for designs, the best combos are sometimes things that look similar. Those guys have all their snake plants together, and I never knew how great that could look. Sansevieria Moonlight (or moonshine), Trifasciata and cylindrica look so good together. Throw some laurentii and starfish in too lol
