      Hi - I subbed for the alt. liv. spaces and the sailing too. I was so glad to see a recent vid - was wondering ‘bout FLORB and hope all is well - whichever way the wind blows. I really enjoy the aesthetic of this truck and all FLORB videos / channel in general. The videos are very well done and highlight v. well done and creative spaces. Also, I like the (low volume?) music selections that accompany the tours and think they complement /add to the mood. But I see another commenter wishing for no music. I just watched again just for that- I can see how it can be a bit distracting and overpowering the speaker - maybe the music could be a little lower volume - that and/or without music during the talking would be fine too. I really like FLORB videos in general though. Happy Holidays FLORB and subscribers! 🎄☃️🍾

      Way better in what sense? It's big, but it's not practical. Even the owner says he's worried when he drives it around - because of its size it seems to serve as a stationary home. Basically a tiny home on wheels.

      Im almost finished building a similar over cab truck to be my home, compared to a van its much cheaper to buy and build, easier to build, much bigger and better longevity. Sure if you want to travel a lot then get a van but for full time living it is better in every way, . Surprised more ppl haven't gone this direction.

    • @jedics1
      @jedics1 4 года назад +3

      @richtea78 There is a point where small is to small, unless all you do is eat and sleep and then spend the rest of your day outside then a van is doable but if your confined to being home like most of us are now then a truck is a much better solution for living in rather than living out of like a van...Like you said circumstances but if you know what those are then a truck is objectively more practical.

    When we were in Berlin in 1993..we went to a UK military auction..they were pulling out..and we bought one of those Bedfords for 2500DMs..it was mint..my mate Gary was invited onto a base for spare parts...and he drove the truck with no ID onto the base..whilst there..as he got the stuff..he saw a huge red carpet..whats that for..the squaddie said..Oh..thats for the Queen..shes coming to close the base..Im out of a job..You can have it..so Gary threw it in the back of the truck..and it was used to insulate his box on another truck. His partner Kath Tox (RIP) drove it to Africa from Berlin and sold it for heaps in Nigeria..just her..her daughter and a pit bull.

    I watch so many of these videos and this is the first one I've seen where I truly loved the aesthetic of the inside. The Chesterfield sofa and vintage additions throughout are amazing.

    In the 1940s my grandparents, my mother and her sister - then teenagers - drove from the UK across the Sahara to South Africa in a 3-ton 4WD 29hp ex-Army Chevrolet signals truck they fitted out with 4 bunk beds, cupboards, water tanks and radio. A newspaper clipping dated April 1947 shows they were the 2nd group of 'overland immigrants' to reach SA that week. Took my family 3 months. A different spin on Vanlife! 😀

    I have seen a lot of RVs and a lot of buses and a lot of veins and I have to say you are the first person that has the most amazing ideas with instead of going out and in especially in the United States when they when they get snowed out and a lot of people go from outside inside their vehicles outside and they get all wet and everything. You just open a floor hatch and retrieve whatever you have to get that is an amazing man! I'm have the bed comes down so you can have living room space but also a bed OMG! And you have a full size shower that you can sit down in my heart goes out to you! I can't wait to see what you can do with a bus! God bless

    I have mot'd a Bedford motorhome a few times. One of them was completely hidden by the canvas cover and could only be seen as a motorhome when the tailgate was dropped and the sheet raised to expose a front door. I have tested loads of coaches converted to motorhome and stock car carriers as well as ladies hairdressers for film companies. I love them! I've even tested a Tate and Lyle sugar tanker that was converted into a motorhome towed by its original tractor unit when I worked for The vehicle Inspectorate,VOSA,DVSA.

    A Bedford from 1988?......my husband could've driven it! We came home from Germany in 1992 when he retired after 22 years. It would be interesting to find the Regt or Corp it came from and take it back to show the new generation of squaddies what it is today. The reason why the design didn't change for all those decades was the principal "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". These and the old Stalwarts were the workhorses of the British Army. They carried anything and everything that the axles could stand. One of our (many) married quarters was on camp and I remember waking up in winter to the sound of these starting in the cold. They sounded like yowling bears with laryngitis. Oh happy days!

    The over cab trucks don't get used for motor home/van conversions much for some reason but its a better platform in every way unless you plan to do a lot of travelling in it then their bad fuel economy lets them down. Classic build bro! Like it. Enjoy. Beer handle and wood hatch were the stand out cool features for me (among many others!)

    The lights are rubbish... you've got a great command of the English language! I like the build - the truck itself looks pretty simple to repair if you had to.

    Love truck build outs. Definitely want to see more of these. Kinda makes me want to make my own in a rococo/victorian grandma style.
