Same, I was just using fiends as target practice with the special marksmen carbine named American Pride I think it’s called, but anyway I killed him and moved on without even looting him
pirates have been romanticized and dumbed down to a point where I saw a pirate themed kids show where it said "remeber kids, real pirates never steal!" and that's about 90% of what it means to be a pirate.
They were theives, murderers and rapists who attacked settlements and cargo ships. They killed family's and raped children. Pirates were one of the most destructive, degenerative sets of people to ever exist and are now seen as a joke.

All of them are satisfying to kill, but the way they wrote Cook Cook made me hate him so much. Whenever I replay NV, once I get good enough weapons, I always do the quest to kill those sick fucks. Man there aren't many games I have played that made me hate an enemy so much

Cook Cook and the Fiends are the reason as to why I LOVED slaughtering the raiders in Nuka World and everywhere else pretty much. They deserve no pity and no remorse.
"Myes, we'll take over the settlements..." "...That precious little farm run by ghouls is equipped with 4 missile turrets and God knows how many laser turrets. It has 138 defense. I've seen Raiders in full power armor get shredded in seconds. Would've been faster if they didn't run for cover."
people don’t really like Nuka World but I relished walking into nuka world, seeing the ‘decorations’ (mutilated bodies) that the raiders chose, deeming them as not fit for living, and proceeding to insert multiple MIRVs into their rectums
I like to let the raids take the parks and when Nuka world is all captured and good, I decimate the raiders and shred them to pieces. More dead raiders is always good.
It makes me think about how controversial or intense it must've been to make this a legitimate quest or not. Obsidion goes far beyond what Bethesda would that's for sure.
I'm a rape survivor myself, and it was still a relatively fresh experience for me around the time I started playing fallout new vegas. It was very difficult to play through this part of the game, the way it was portrayed made me feel like I was reliving my own experience. Seeing Betsy act the way she did didn't exactly help me feel better either. However, I played on. I got Betsy help, I killed all the friends, and I especially took my time with Cook Cook. Even with his abhorrent reputation, I didn't feel fear when I confronted him. Killing Cook Cook for the first time was easily one of the most satisfying parts of the game for me, hands down. Putting him down was a coping mechanism in a way. That maybe there will be some kind of justice for what happened to me someday, like there was justice for Betsy and Sarah. Betsy having the ability to get help also persuaded me to get help. Seeing Ten Of Spades reminded me of how my family blamed themselves for "letting me go through that pain" when it wasn't entirely their fault. The thing about the Courier is that they're an outsider in all of this. These quests are entirely optional and there's no requirement to do them to complete the game in any capacity. The Courier's only true incentive is the caps they can earn as a result of this. The fact that the Courier can go deeper than surface level mercenary work and truly bring these people justice and the help they need makes me genuinely happy. Even in a post apocalypse, compassion can still be abundant. But yeah, I'm done going off on a tangent here. This game made me realize that it's okay to be hurt and seek help for what happened to me. Betsy is a more important character than Obsidian ever even realized. Props to them for this absolutely amazing story.
That's why I like New Vegas so much, it's a lot deeper and stays away from stereotypes than what Bethesda has done so far. I'm glad this game helped you too.
I prefer seeing realism in a game, no matter how dark and gritty it may be, as just as there is good, there is evil, and everything in between, and that's what I like to see in my stories, whether it be a movie, a game, or whatever, because it means the creators were not afraid of showing both sides of the coin.
this so much, it just ruins the immersion in a apocalyptic world when the bad guys will murder steal and everything in between but somehow both the good and bad guys agree that rape is a no no but skinning and eating a man alive see that is okay nudity is a no no...
@@ElementVoidX It all depends on how they rationalize their actions. I can see someone saying "I do this bad thing, but I think this other thing is bad, therefore I'm a good person because I don't do the other thing." It all comes down to how they can accept their own actions. Some can accept that they are a bad person. Others have to rationalize their decisions away to maintain their own sense of self.
Reminds me of the time I tried to use the Rangefinder on him. Failed 3 times but the last attempt ended with him becoming a pile of ash from a direct hit from the solar beam.

Thank you for talking about RTS and hypersexuality via trauma. It's important for people to recognize those symptoms when someone they love goes through trauma like that.
At the beginning of the video, when he said “story’s like this need to be told.” All I could think of was Piper saying “I’d rather know an ugly truth then a sweet lie.”
Which is why she is an actually decent person. While everyone else would rather take the sugar coated version, Piper stays real with everyone, and that's why she is so disliked.
I was thinking about doing it honestly... but too lazy to find a flamer I didnt sell.. anddd I mean I killed him with plasma rifle, I mean it can count right? I mean it makes your body melt atleast...
As a survivor of rape when I played this side quest. It made me feel stronger. I'm also glad the Fallout made it a thing even if people don't like talking about it.
@@Dime_time333 what do you mean rape is subjective are you talking about the storyline are you talking about the actual thing that happened. Because as far as I know subjective means based on influence or by personal feelings so either you saying it's a kink. Or that you say that I deserve that which I was five when it happened. That a five year old was so sexual to this older 35 year old man that I deserve to be raped. Is that what you're saying Luke cuz that's what it sounds like to me and that's disgusting.
Honestly cook cook is one of the few in game carecters I go out of my way to kill in ever single playthrough even if I'm roleplaying a pure evil carecter
Unfortunately you missed 1 dialog with bounty hunter who spied cook-cook in camp McCarran about the bandit, when we ask him why he won't take cook-cook out he says "I don't want to sacrifice my butthole"
They heavily tax citizens, aggressively expand their territory and make deals with groups only to go back on their word later. Add to that a lot of the higher ups seem to have their own personal agendas and problems with corruption.
They're realistic because they're not perfect, but I think the right way to go would be solving their problems with excessive bureaucracy and corruption while expanding on the positive things they have going on for them. Not just dismissing them as another corrupt faction and tossing them to the side, "throwing the baby out with the bathwater", so to speak. That's why I like the ending in which Chief Hanlon goes on to pursue a career in politics and starts working to fix the corruption from within as senator of Redding.
Too bad Caesar's Legion is always portrait as the bad guys. If you join Caesar, everyone will think you're bad, you'll be the villain of the story if you join Legion, an anti-hero at best. The game tries so hard to make you avoid joining Legion, which is a damn shame because I like Caesar's line of thought. He crucifies chem-pushers and criminals like the Fiends, I out one out of his misery, should have let him live tortured. Caesar might seem harsh, but he's what the Mojave needs
I don't usually comment, but I noticed you overlooked a few things about Cook-Cook. In addition to his other crimes its also heavily implied he is into bestiality. Cut dialogue has him talk affectionately about his pet brahmin Queenie and if the player kills her during the battle he will rage out and murder his own raiders. The fact that he is mentioned having a horrible smell is another big clue, not to mention the possibility of him being a cannibal as well. Its been a while since I played NV but I'm pretty sure you can find human flesh near his camp. I might be mistaken though. His unwillingness to butcher Queenie may also indicate that a lot of his meals are made from humans. Anyway, I'm glad I killed the sick piece of crap with a Holy Hand Grenade on my Wild Wasteland file.
I know that many of them are, but I don't think its ever confirmed that they all are. Again, its been a while so I may be mistaken. Is there a terminal entry or something somewhere that mentions this? New Vegas was a big game so its easy to overlook stuff like that. Thanks.
Right, but I don't see how this means all of the fiends are cannibals. Just because Cook-Cook rapes or burns everything he can find doesn't mean they all do. They all do drugs and most attack on sight but I don't remember ever finding any evidence all of them eat human flesh. Some of them probably do, but I think most are so out of their minds on chems that they just keep attacking until they OD or get shot without much thought about things like food or shelter.
Great content as always Oxhorn. New Vegas truly was not afraid to let the player get their hands dirty and see the dark, ugly side of humanity. I think most game devs are too afraid to get this "adult" in their games nowadays, which is a real shame. As horrifying as this story is, that's part of what makes it great. New Vegas and the world of Fallout is a dark, dangerous place without laws. In such a world, of course characters like these Fiends and Cook-Cook would exist. Thanks for reminding me how amazing New Vegas is.
The Wanderer Obsidian was great at showing how fucked the world was, even in The Strip, pretty much the safest place in the world, still had horrible shit going on
The best part about New Vegas is that darker themes aren't used for pure shock value. Most games today gandle mature topics with grace of an enraged supermutant, they milk them for advertising and hype and shove them in your face just so people can say "Wew lads that's a real MATURE game with GREY MORALITY and SERIOUS themes". New Vegas doesn't shy from showing what exactly would happen if corrupted bureaucratic nation were to clash with a horde of fanatical neo-tribals that try to mimic the Hollywood version of Rome in post-apocalyptic wasteland near a city-state that exists solely on gambling, drugs and whores. Spoilers: nothing good happens. But at the same time this game isn't a pure horrorshow, dark things aren't the focus of the story or the main feature. They're here because that what would happen in Fallout universe, because evil characters aren't Saturday morning villians, they really do a lot of fucked up shit. Fiends are showed exacty for what they are - dangerous insane monsters who barely even register what is going on around them because of the drugs they constantly use. But in grand scheme of things Feinds are ultimately inconsequential - because they are crazy junkies, you know. Sexual assaults and rape treated as FUCKED-UP THINGS(tm). No shock value, no in-your-face "look at how grimdark we are!!1". These things are just kind of inevitable in world of Fallout, and therefore threated as any other disgusting shit (cannibalism, torture, you name it): it is there, it is bad, there are physical and psychological consequences for victims, and only complete degenerates do that. You can help people, you can ignore them. If Fallout was made by Bioware I bet there would be huge hype for DARK BACKSTORIES and MATURE THEMES. New Vegas is kinda like "Well, yeah, this happens. You really shoud've expected that." As a sidenote, this approach does make playing an evil character in Fallout games actually feel bad. Because you do really, really bad things. Things, like No-bark Noonan said, "even your own ma couldn't forgive."
This is something F4 was missing. Fallout 3 and New Vegas did a really damn good job showing the darker sides of the wasteland while also showing the weirdness I love(d) about the series.
Don't confuse that with the new Wolfenstein, stay away from it unless you like mindless shooters that play it extremely safe(even then I'd reccomend Doom over it or even CoD). The older ones are good, like what the user above me is talking about but The New Collosus is terrible and is one of the most forced, all over the place games I've ever played..though the voice acting and soundtrack is top notch. I made a huge mistake in listening to it's reviews so I was expecting something along the lines of Dishonored or Bioshock in terms of quality and ended up with some shit like release day No Man's Sky (without it's latest patches).
I wish we could recruit 10 of spades as a temporary companion, it could be an interesting way to go and brutalize cook-cook, a little bit of a redemption story, as in "i'll work to avenge the friend i could not protect"
its been said before..... especially during the end of nazi germany..... forcing germans to walk through a concentration camp/ genocide remnants .... watch the nuremburg trials film proof prosecution evidence
@@PaulRudd1941 Nice argument. Doesn't change the fact that the Nuremburg confessions were brought about through the use of extreme torture, (specifically testicle crushing) and cannot be seen as legitimate evidence.
It is good, many of his Fallout 4 videos are "amazing", but they are slowly starting to average out at "good" as he goes through more and more of the lore and begins reaching a little more. A fresh set of material is a nice change. He should obviously keep making Fallout 4 content as long as it's interesting to both us and himself, but a change in flavour every now and again is great.
I know, it's awful. I had to reload a previous save after she just exploded, and I ended up quickloading about five times to keep them from bursting into pieces.
When I usually shoot enemies in the arms and legs even with bloody mess they don't fully explode, It has to be a head or torso shot to do such a thing I think, it also could be just because I didn't completely cripple the limb when I killed them.
Funny story: I went on a fiend genocide and killed Cook Cook before I even knew about his story. For some reason I don’t remember him being too difficult. I then randomly found these women with the dialogue option telling them about Cook Cook being dead and didn’t even know what I was talking about.
@@prodrigon5156 Depends, would you consider crucifying a rapist cruel? The one thing I dislike is, lack of proper punishment, this isn't about dominance, but simply locking someone in jail, is not as terrifying a message, as outright disabling someone for stealing something. It's cruel, but it gives the message that crime is unforgivable, and strikes fear into those who want to commit crimes. If you're honest, you're safe now, aren't you?
@@AmadisLFE The fuck? Honestly, those excessive commas and no periods make the never ending phrase very ambiguous. Are you telling it's okay to dismember AND torture criminals? Or that rapists are different, thus warranting punishment which would be too harsh for other crimes? Also, are you implying the other commentator is safe because of that sort of punishment? Or that him being safe means he wouldn't understand? Anyways, a punishment must fit the crime and circumstances. Rape and other _Malun in se_ crimes are tough to punish fittingly, but it's important to not go overboard on the mindset of punishing others. Not trying to insult you, but your focus on punishment with your mention of fear and domination being factors, or your denying of domination being one, make you sound a bit immature on this matter. After all, human psychology is really complex and our society's own complexity just amplifies it. So, to focus simply on punishing is a half measure, fear isn't enough to control people effectively. Any real politician would tell you that from Sumer to today, except the autocrats with the intent of abusing violence. To be simple, you must use a carrot as well as a stick. People need rewards as well as punishments, they need to vent out their frustrations and sate desires. For more, see Maslow's Scale, Freud and Jung's respective anthologies, Freire and Foucault's works, any good book on management and administration or justice systems and whatever else you can get your hands on about these matters.
Pretty Sarah is voiced by Peri Gilpin, who played Roz in Frasier :) She also voiced a few other characters in NV. I love her voice acting and she was amazing on Frasier, one of my favorite characters on that show. Great lady
The Fallout universe needs to have more REAL life situations. We need plots and characters we can literally hate, hunt and put down & feel good about it. I gotta say, Im loving the way your doing this video. Its like a walk through, Roll player, investigative reporter. You should do this like a fallout investigator and crime documentary producer.
Rhino L-V I don't know if you play it on PC, or have played the mod before, New Vegas Bounties is somewhat like that, the sequel to it is a little more in depth (imo) because with some of the bounties you have to find notes or clues to where they are.
No, I'm trying to learn how on my own but I'm not getting anywhere. It sucks because I have some incredible ideas that would blow the fallout community away. I'm looking for someone to work with in a writing & idea role, as I'd probably drive someone insane if they were trying to teach me moding. I was part of a larger group as a writer, but they gone on Hiatus until summer.
If I had any technical know how I would be happy to help, but I haven't gotten too much into modding besides installing them due to my lack of an actual desktop, and not having the time to do sit down and learn how to code, 3D model, script etc.
This whole video legit sums up every revenge movie ever. "Could you find out what happened to X" "Sure" *10 Minutes Later* "Oh my GODS I have to get Revenge." "WHERE IS FRANCIS."
Hard to believe that this game is what set the bar for me in terms of an RPG. Sadly no other game has come close to this masterpiece that obsidian created.
Armin Witcher 3 is a hell of a game. New Vegas will still always be my favorite RPG, likely favorite game too, of all time, but W3 certainly comes close. Great quests and world/lore with a lot of hard choices.
I camped out on a ridge with Boone just north of Cook-Cook's hideout. I got low to the ground and watched through my binoculars till nightfall came. Five fiends including the rapist, and three brahmin. I pulled out my silenced .308 and shot the cows dead hoping one of them was his precious Queenie. Almost immediately I began hearing screems from inside the ruined buildings as flames began spewing from the windows. He hadn't noticed us yet and was in a frenzy killing fiends wildly. An explosion erupted that was big enough to send chunks of Queenie all the way to my feet as the sounds of battle finally began to die down. A couple fireballs from an incinerator flew from the building and a spray of flames caught a fleeing fiend, and then it was over. After a couple of minutes we began to creep towards the base, charred body parts lining the dirt at we stalked forward. We reached the ruined building and peaked through the window. There stood Cook-Cook, surrounded by corpses. He limped over to one of the bodies, clearly wounded, and stared at the ground mourning the loss of his Queenie. I crawled through the window, drew my silenced .45 pistol, and fired a round into the dirt by his feet. He turned around quickly, savage anger showing from behind his helmet. And before he could even grab his incinerator I put three rounds in his chest and dropped him to the ground. I then ripped his welding mask off and removed his head. The only left to do before I turned in the bounty was to throw his ass on the fire so there could be nothing left of him to speak of. For Betsy.
Love how gaming gives little stories like this. I just happened upon Cook-Cook on accident walking towards a Ranger Outpost (fuck that codes quest), so no such luck here.
Looking back at this makes me wanna cry. I rarely, if ever, see a trauma response similar to mine represented in media. I hypersexualized myself as a way to deal with trauma. It kinda made me wonder for a while if my trauma was even valid. Was I faking it? This quest was in the back of my mind for a while, I never truly forgot it, but...I think I needed to see it again. It kinda makes me feel better, and being able to actually help her in the end...it means a lot to me
I still think that, I'm still broken, I mentally over sexualize everything 😔 im also an introvert who stays inside a lot so i can't act on it. I hope you got past it 😊 P.s. I agree with you on every aspect of your comment thank you for letting me know I'm not alone
I was also raped, it was an awful experience. Not to mention I was only nine, i often got upset when speaking to others and even harmed myself during therapy. When I was in therapy i was given a stuffed cat and she was my best friend, she helped me through sleep. They tried to get me to type out my experience but within two months they got a measly two sentences out of me, I couldn't handle it. Now i'm going to go play fallout new vegas and screw over some fiends.

How fallout should be. Sounds rough to say, but the wasteland itself isn't all fun and games. Its just Dark, true and raw. Why? Well first of all because the creators had this vision of the game from the Get-go. Don't believe me? Watch ''A Boy and his Dog'' its a post apocalyptic flick, that is where the creators got most of their inspiration from.
As a male who spent the last 8.5 years being mentally abused by the mother of my kids this story line hit me hard. I have never found this storyline in over 400 hours of game play even though I have killed cook cook. I'm glad games have these types of stories in them I wish more would loom at the effects of rape and abuse on not only women but also men and what it does to those who have it done to them. Even now 6 months later from getting out of the relationship I still have not come to terms of it and there is no where to turn to (at least that I can find) in the UK for a male who gas been abused. Now I am not looking for sympathy or for likes I want people to realise that abuse is abuse and can happen to men or women by men or women abuse is not a gender thing it is an individual thing. Yes I wish there was help for me but more importantly I wish there was help for all victims of abuse male and female alike. Sorry I have gone on and on and probably made no sense at all. Keep up the great videos and if there are more like this please I beg you do them.

I suffer from PTSD due to a massively traumatic car accident I suffered last year. I won’t go into detail but I was in a wheel chair for 6 months and had to under go very intense physical therapy and seeing this video by you and the compassion and care you take to explain how people sometimes won’t understand the subtle changes a persons psyche and personality will undergo after such a traumatic event and how you don’t short change it or make light of it I very much appreciate it you’ve definitely earned a sub for always putting out such great content
As a fellow sufferer to PTSD, my heart goes out to you. I wish you the best, and I'm happy to hear, regardless that you're a stranger, that you've made it out alive and relatively well. Please, keep moving forward the stronger person you've become.
This is the first video I have seen from you, and I thought it was fascinating and incredibly well done. Your approach on the topic was respectful, you took the time to follow each thread, and you brought valuable insight to the story. I'd love to see some more Fallout: New Vegas lore videos. I'm about to start the first video in the series (sorry, RUclips recommended me backwards) - but I wanted to make sure I left some positive feedback first.
Same here. You get it, friend. You love Fallout like I love Fallout. I've seen tons of Fallout videos, and I really thought there was nothing left worth seeing, now I truly cannot wait to see your whole Lore series entire! Smart, thoughtful, real... Oxhorn adds positive Karma to our world too. Thank you.
+Remani You have way more speech options then just 4 and also they are just so much more in depth and feel so much more fleshed out. Also you feel like your choices actually make a difference instead of so many times in fo4 where no matter what you say the person will go aggro on you or there is only 1 outcome to a quest. Pretty much every quest in fallout NV has like 3 or 4 endings. The amount of replay-ability far exceeds the 5 times iv replayed FOV4. Iv played through NV over 20 times and iv completely 100 percented it with achievements. I could honeslty go on and on and on about how great NV is. I have to say though that FO4 improved in how the guns handled and aimed as-well as the settlement mode was pretty cool.
Damn... I killed Cook Cook by an almost random encounter. I remember the unusual name, and how you could take his head. I really thought nothing of it at the time, but now I'm super glad I slaughtered him
It’s hard for a game to make me genuinely hate a character. I wish there was an option to sell them off to one of their regular customers or the legion to be put on a cross.
I remember my first encounter with cook-cook. I thought he was just a slightly tougher version of a fiend, and so I just melted him into a pile of ash with a laser rifle, since I was busy trying to join the BoS and get that T-45 power drip
This was honestly a great topic and elaboration on this depiction of such an awful thing. There wasn't any shaming of Betsy or her post-traumatic stress and the victims and survivors were actually treated with respect; it unfortunately says quite a bit about the youtube platform that I was expecting otherwise. These lore vids seem so thoughtful and mature, it's very refreshing.
Just remember: most Internet comment sections are the equivalent of real life public bathrooms. You can put whatever you want, whenever you want, nobody knows the real identity of who put it there and most times they are so expensive to be removed that they just stay there. If you look at the paitings and messages on the walls of a public bathroom, sometimes you find something funny, sometimes something creative, but most times, you just get immature people putting the first thing that comes into their minds, or people been mean and thinking they are being funny for doing so. And don't forget the "I wanna f*uck the waitress" messages.
You know. If you kill cook cook priced Brahman he goes insane and tries to kill everything around him. I love sniping it from stealth and watching him kill his fellows.
Fallout 3s look told you, Disneyland? Are you sure you've played it? Or been to Disneyland, cause last I checked green nuclear ash covered skys didn't cover Disneyland. Also I didn't know people put others into slavery until they turned into Trogs or died just because they didn't want to hurt their kid.
i mean they sugar coated a lot of stuff in fo3 and 4, where as in the originals and new vegas you had more stuff like what oxhorn is talking about here. they shied away from this stuff, or merely alluded to it with out really directly referencing it. so yes less mad max more disney's version of the apocalypse.
+Necro Zealous I don't think that's the reason. lol Bethesda's Fallout is more marketed towards children. That's probably the reason. I know everyone always likes to blame the SJWs but I don't think they have that much influence.
I don't know if it's because I'm a woman that this quest hit me personally (because let's face it, in a post-apocalyptic society, r*pe is a major fear/danger for us women). But, I can say, going into Cook-cook's camp and lighting up the b*stard using a female courier was immensely satisfying. There are some evils in the world represented in NV so well that actually completing the mission makes you feel like you just made the world a little safer for everyone.
@@mish375 one thing I like abour Betsy is despite how her trauma effected her behavior she never took it out on 10 of Spades (her partner) yet he blames himself for getting knocked unconscious when she took a chance on the new guy and he believes he let her down. Yet she doesn't blame him and can control her attitude. Even when you kill Cook-Cook she said the idea of her imagining killing him herself brought her some peace and shes mad you took that from her but she is self aware enough that you did a good thing and tells you as much and to leave before she sinks into her "bitchy attitude" in the heat of the moment. and the worst part is, THIS quest is too simple. Dermont practically tells you with no real work needed that he's involved and all you need to do is search his room. and you somehow magically know he has one despite it not being told to you. which is not to say its a major flaw, but goes to show the major weakness in bethesda. when even the simple and straightforward quest is too complicated. with that said Fallout 4 still has its merits, and in my opinion, has the "walking simulator" part of Fallout nailed down. the world is alive, the raiders feel like people (if bad people in most cases.) the upgrade in combat features was something that was needed (not very immersive to have 15 fiends with pipes charge you.) I just wish it had kept better quests if it had it easily would've been the best fallout game to date. (though I still would've preferred new vegas. I much more enjoy being a cowboy than a vault dweller. though that's up to preference.)
I mean, it is okay. It honestly isn't anything special. A lot of people see it through nostalgia glasses. I played it without the nostalgia involved and honestly it is just...okay...probably wouldn't play it again. Not saying anything is wrong with nostalgia, I am sure I have some nostalgic bias on some weird as hell stuff.
@@JustKelso1993 I assume you mean Fallout 2? I say that, loving the story built and game giving you nostalgia is different. I agree with you though. Nostalgia makes some people a little biased, I ignore that, unless they start calling names and shit.
@@AmadisLFE No, New Vegas. I never really liked it. It isn't an awful game, just, couldn't really tell you why I disliked it, just did. Almost wouldn't even say I disliked it I suppose, I enjoyed it while playing it but never had any desire to touch it again. And that is a good way to live.
I’m not normally a person to watch narration videos but I love how your story telling voice just pulls me in and listen to the stories I’ve done but in a seemingly new way. Thanks and I’ll be watching more in the future
I always loved how New Vegas could handle subjects this dark so well, and not only that, (don't take this the wrong way) make it morbidly hilarious in some specific quests. The pitch-black humor that Fallout is practically known for is entirely missing in Fallout 4. That's... probably a big factor in why it feels so lifeless. It's devoid of any heart or soul. Too... sanitized.
@salty sailor I clearly have never played it? I've played it twice actually. and no your still wrong it is sanitized. Atleast more sanitized than the other fallouts. it should be darker.
@salty sailor Fallout 4 is just made for the mainstream gamers. You can’t be evil. Just an asshole, let me know when you can actually Nuke a town like in New Vegas or fallout 3 just to start. Fallout 4 had the gunplay. But that’s about it.
Watching and playing this mission over recently, I noticed when you use a certain speech option with 10 of Spades he not only speaks perfectly but with a very different tone. It made me wonder if he knows more then he is letting on, there is no supporting evidence that I know of but the way he spoke suggested that he may be faking his speech impediment. We only knew the man through a short couple of quests too. I'm not saying he helped Cook Cook, but I've seen situations where something like this happened and a bystander was involved. A fight is much easier to break up then a rape, it's terrifying in fact. Why would Cook Cook just leave? Pretty Sarah should be proof enough that nobody walks away from Cook Cook without a few burns, however Betsy did. Perhaps I'm reading too much into this but it's possible that 10 of Spades may have witnessed or been present when the act was committed but was to afraid to intervene. Betsy may even be covering for this by altering her story for fear of getting 10 of Spades in trouble. Lastly, I don't remember the exact name, but a form of survivors guilt can result in someone faking an injury or illness to make themselves feel less responsible. His stutter could simply be the result of that incident heck even if he did get knocked out it's still possible, something about the tone and sudden lack of stuttering makes me believe he saw more then he lets on. I will also say that I suffered from a speech impediment when I was little, nothing bad happened and sometimes if I concentrated I could say lines perfectly, useually this took so much focus, that inflection and tone would be lost. Perhaps he has always had this issue, maybe he didn't or maybe a voice actor just got a little lost with the dialogue. I'm just saying it all seems a little suspicious.
You are a very intelligent person, and this is a very interesting in depth theory, I remember thinking similar things when I talked to most of 1st recon, I remember thinking that it was strange 1st recon wouldn’t help with cook cook
After watching this video, I fully understand that what people meant when they say "Fallout 4 Dialogue System is shit!". Yes, look all these choices in older Fallout.
+Probably A Schizophrenic : Actually send "telepathically messages" is better than give PC a voice in a RPG game, is more immersive for the rol And yes, everybody know "Fallout 4 is funny and nice to play", Fallout 4 has a loot of nice stuff, but is a "bad" RPG and a terrible Fallout
Actually, I'm happy about voice acting in Fallout 4. Voice actor (actress) made a good job at impressions, anger or sadness on my opinion. BUT, if you cut a lot of choices just because it's hard to record a lot of voice; then it is bad. I think thats why we had a few options in Fallout 4. They couldn't record hundreds of thousands question / sentence. Thats hard. But just text, yea, that should be easy. And other thing, I still think that new Fallout (if they do another) should include voice acting. But, When you press (Y) or you know, question button; there should be at least 5 question with SPECIAL values that determines if you will be succeed or not.
I managed to convince Betsy that seeking help for her trauma was nothing different than getting help for a wound or a broken bone, using my skills and a magazine: I happened to find Violet before starting the quest by exploring the area, When I went for Cook-Cook the fiends were swarming and I had Boone and ED-E as companions, not even sure who of us killed him but his head stayed intact. Driver Nephi was a bit tricky but I made sure to stay out of range of his club. I haven't done anything about the slavers but I will look into that.
I'm not an NCR guy. I used to be when I played the game when I was younger but as I've grown up I've totally become more of a Yes Man / House type player. However there are still so many NCR characters who I can't not help. The Fiends are so evil, I have to kill them. Knowing they are still out there, senselessly committing these monstrous acts actually fucks me up.Theres one thing Betsy says that I'm in the total opposite of, she feels bad for killing some fiends but not Legion, but at least to me the Legion people you kill believe in what they are fighting for. The fiends have nothing they believe in, just pleasure at the expense of others.
Lee Everett actually, the legion soldiers come from conquered tribes, cesar either leaves no survivors or takes some of them for his damn legion, wich means most of the legion are brainwashed, so i kind think its a bit more sad to kill legion boys...
They are nihilists. They believe in nothing. Still, would've have been insanely evil to kill Motor Runner, Duke and the rest of the higher ups before taking control of the Fiends and using them to take over New Vegas. For some reason I've always wanted to do that or establish a Narco Empire as the Great Khans while clearing out House and NCR.
minutemen soldier Not even for pleasure? That's fucking cold. If they got some sorta kick outta it I would just consider them psychopaths and not evil, but killing and raping not to satisfy a bloodlust like the forged, not to steal your shit like raiders, not for a strategic location like a gunner, but just because they feel like it?

Thank you for sharing your story

I prefer seeing realism in a game, no matter how dark and gritty it may be, as just as there is good, there is evil, and everything in between, and that's what I like to see in my stories, whether it be a movie, a game, or whatever, because it means the creators were not afraid of showing both sides of the coin.

One thing you'll learn about the NCR, they aren't exactly the good guys. They try, but like any government, they make a lot of mistakes.
They heavily tax citizens, aggressively expand their territory and make deals with groups only to go back on their word later. Add to that a lot of the higher ups seem to have their own personal agendas and problems with corruption.
Martiellmo least theyre better than the holier than thou minutemen
They're realistic because they're not perfect, but I think the right way to go would be solving their problems with excessive bureaucracy and corruption while expanding on the positive things they have going on for them. Not just dismissing them as another corrupt faction and tossing them to the side, "throwing the baby out with the bathwater", so to speak. That's why I like the ending in which Chief Hanlon goes on to pursue a career in politics and starts working to fix the corruption from within as senator of Redding.
Martiellmo Ave True to Caesar
Too bad Caesar's Legion is always portrait as the bad guys. If you join Caesar, everyone will think you're bad, you'll be the villain of the story if you join Legion, an anti-hero at best. The game tries so hard to make you avoid joining Legion, which is a damn shame because I like Caesar's line of thought. He crucifies chem-pushers and criminals like the Fiends, I out one out of his misery, should have let him live tortured. Caesar might seem harsh, but he's what the Mojave needs

Cook Cook giving psychological assistance to the young children of the Mojave
Zombie Reaper All the Fiends are cannibals.
Some of them probably do, but I think most are so out of their minds on chems that they just keep attacking until they OD or get shot without much thought about things like food or shelter.
the human flesh is in violet trailer. i think she gives it to her dog
Cook cook is a cannibal it’s confirmed just look into his cut dialogue. I don’t think that matters though because the player can also become a canibal
The Wanderer Obsidian was great at showing how fucked the world was, even in The Strip, pretty much the safest place in the world, still had horrible shit going on
Rex a hotel cooking up human meat how ravishing
You really shoud've expected that."
As a sidenote, this approach does make playing an evil character in Fallout games actually feel bad.

Make him stutter with fury as he's bashing cook cooks face in with the but of his rifle.

Blazerider 13 agree
Blazerider 13 true
It is good, many of his Fallout 4 videos are "amazing", but they are slowly starting to average out at "good" as he goes through more and more of the lore and begins reaching a little more. A fresh set of material is a nice change. He should obviously keep making Fallout 4 content as long as it's interesting to both us and himself, but a change in flavour every now and again is great.
Oxhorn please do a video of vault 22 please
I am happy from it as well.
Bloody mess screwed me with Violet but hell, slaying these bastards was fun, the pay was just extra.
I know, it's awful. I had to reload a previous save after she just exploded, and I ended up quickloading about five times to keep them from bursting into pieces.
Connor Tyler That's why in those cases, you have to shoot them in the arms or legs, makes it take longer buy its what ya gotta do.
Evan Delrio bloody mess can complicate this; a limb shot causes the head and the rest of the limbs to explode. xD

You people are cruel 😂😂😂😂
@@prodrigon5156 Depends, would you consider crucifying a rapist cruel? The one thing I dislike is, lack of proper punishment, this isn't about dominance, but simply locking someone in jail, is not as terrifying a message, as outright disabling someone for stealing something. It's cruel, but it gives the message that crime is unforgivable, and strikes fear into those who want to commit crimes. If you're honest, you're safe now, aren't you?
@@AmadisLFE
The fuck?

Great lady
Ah, that's why she sounds familiar. I couldn't place where I'd heard her before.
Damn, I'm on PC so I'll give them both a shot.
Have you modded before?
No, I'm trying to learn how on my own but I'm not getting anywhere. It sucks because I have some incredible ideas that would blow the fallout community away. I'm looking for someone to work with in a writing & idea role, as I'd probably drive someone insane if they were trying to teach me moding. I was part of a larger group as a writer, but they gone on Hiatus until summer.
If I had any technical know how I would be happy to help, but I haven't gotten too much into modding besides installing them due to my lack of an actual desktop, and not having the time to do sit down and learn how to code, 3D model, script etc.

What about KOTOR? Morrowind? These games blow NV out of the water as far as the RPG experience goes.
Armin Witcher 3 is a hell of a game. New Vegas will still always be my favorite RPG, likely favorite game too, of all time, but W3 certainly comes close. Great quests and world/lore with a lot of hard choices.

Yeah i have seen my friend play it on steam.
For Betsy.
That... Is... Awesome.
Love how gaming gives little stories like this. I just happened upon Cook-Cook on accident walking towards a Ranger Outpost (fuck that codes quest), so no such luck here.

There is a reason why it's not like this anymore, and that's because *clears throat* THEY CANT MAKE IT LIKE THIS ANYMORE

And don't forget the "I wanna f*uck the waitress" messages.

well, bethesda's fallouts have been more disneyland, where as new vegas and the original 2 were more mad max.

As someone who rolls a female courier and does Betsy's quest, fighting Cook-Cook is the most intense and yet rewarding boss battle I have ever done.

Even when you kill Cook-Cook she said the idea of her imagining killing him herself brought her some peace and shes mad you took that from her but she is self aware enough that you did a good thing and tells you as much and to leave before she sinks into her "bitchy attitude" in the heat of the moment.

Fallout 4 would be like
"Shit this is too hard. just make Cook-Cook just a generic bad guy with a flamethrower and a simple 'go kill this guy' quest"
Elyna Lilyarel that's the thing with fallout 4 there's no story around where you go
Elyna Lilyarel I love Fallout 4 but sadly that is indeed what would happen.
Fallout 4 felt very dumbed down.
and the worst part is, THIS quest is too simple.

The pitch-black humor that Fallout is practically known for is entirely missing in Fallout 4. That's... probably a big factor in why it feels so lifeless. It's devoid of any heart or soul. Too... sanitized.
It is too sanitized. you are right.
@salty sailor no your wrong

Huh, I always wondered why Cook Cook's head was lootable.
After watching this video, I fully understand that what people meant when they say "Fallout 4 Dialogue System is shit!". Yes, look all these choices in older Fallout.
İlkercan Karakuyulu ah dude... if you've only played fallout 4 then I feel sorry for you, you have to play this game...
ChilieConCarnage07 i played fallout 3 before starting fallout 4. but then i realise that i had to play nv instead of fallout 3. sorry about myself :(
Yeah, but in Fo4 the combat isn't garbage and you don't telepathically send people messages.
+Probably A Schizophrenic : Actually send "telepathically messages" is better than give PC a voice in a RPG game, is more immersive for the rol
And yes, everybody know "Fallout 4 is funny and nice to play", Fallout 4 has a loot of nice stuff, but is a "bad" RPG and a terrible Fallout
Take a shot every time he says "Betty" instead of "Betsy"
This dude really said Camp Mclarren at one point xD Like the NCR are building race cars to defeat the legion.
“But it’s really hard to romanticize evil when you see the impact evil has on people”
I managed to convince Betsy that seeking help for her trauma was nothing different than getting help for a wound or a broken bone, using my skills and a magazine:
I happened to find Violet before starting the quest by exploring the area,
When I went for Cook-Cook the fiends were swarming and I had Boone and ED-E as companions, not even sure who of us killed him but his head stayed intact.
Driver Nephi was a bit tricky but I made sure to stay out of range of his club.
I haven't done anything about the slavers but I will look into that.
It’s a shame they had to cut out Cook-cook’s dialogue lines. Those were great.
Julkke WHERE DO I FIND THEM?!
look em up online. You can also download a mod to turn them on. but you'll need another mod to make the fiends non-hostile and able to talk to
Xanran Doto thank you
I'm not an NCR guy.
Lee Everett
"Evil" means doing evil things without reason. Not even for pleasure. Just no reason.
The Internet Police thats what fiends do...
minutemen soldier
Not even for pleasure? That's fucking cold. If they got some sorta kick outta it I would just consider them psychopaths and not evil, but killing and raping not to satisfy a bloodlust like the forged, not to steal your shit like raiders, not for a strategic location like a gunner, but just because they feel like it?
I’ve just started this compilation of Oxhorn’s New Vegas and I hope in future episodes he starts speaking out his character dialogue again. Especially with Ulysses. His dialogue is still epic to this day.
