I have no clue why the MTA in NYC doesn't do what septa did for the MFL as far as replacing the trackway from wood to concrete and direct fixation.

Funny thing is it seems like the MFL operates at a higher travel speed than SEPTA regional rail.
It certainly does seem that way, probably because the MFL makes a lot more noise/cars shake around more.
It's amazing what a different vibe the two ends of the line have. And it's too bad they renovated the last few stations on the west side. I remember as a boy the 1920s style design of those last stations.
33:07 I never understood why the rails are connected like that. its the only line I seen that has that weird layout.
True, the only thing I think it could be is a provision for an X interlocking.

What speed these trains do between stations that are far away from each other? 55 MPH? 75?
Between 30th and 15th Street, 50-60 MPH. Between Spring Garden and Girard, probably 40-50 MPH. I never measured the speeds there so I'm just estimating
