Dear GOD. Van Richten is my favorite non-guest NPC, he makes Paultin so much better. This episode was super serious, fantastic job Nate and Anna! You played so well!
I like Van Richten, but I also enjoy Paultin trying to kill him. It’s more realistic
Best episode of DCA by far! Great roleplay on Nate and Anna's part and Chris definitely proves that he was an amazing DM! BTW. Jared and Holly's reactions were priceless too!
Fuuuuuuuck, man. I've always felt like DCA was a fun series, but this is the first time I felt serious feels on the level of what I've felt in Critical Role . I don't know if it's Perkins' fairly light handling of PC and NPC death (not a criticism, it's just a stylistic choice), but I never felt invested when the characters were at risk before. But Anna's rping around the ritual and Evelyn saying goodbye to everyone... like, DUDE. Top notch RP. Seriously. Amazing job.

My god, i know a lot of us here have been watching since ep 1, and I have to say, I think overall, this is the best episode in the entire series! Everyone role played amazingly. I know some people give Nate a bad rap for his roleplay in previous eps but he was absolutely incredible here.
All this, and no real combat ever even ensued. THAT'S some good fucking D&D! Props to the #WaffleCrew !

Get your tissues ready folks, this one made me cry SEVERAL times. Some of the best roleplaying I've ever seen in a D&D stream, this will go down in history as a game changer in this beloved series of ours.

This was a truly splendid and full of feels episode, wth is wrong with someone expressing how much they enjoyed it, how much it moved them, and then trying to warn others that it might do the same to them? I for one, concur that it was definitely a game changer, 10/10 roleplaying, would watch again. In fact rewatching rn.

Best episode of season 2.Chris once again proves why he is a legendary dm with an amazing twist ending.Evelen the padalin of sun had so many touching moments.I cried all the tears.A very special moment with paultin.
can't wait to see how the waffle crew gets out of this new situation in episode 53
And he foreshadowed it so well with the hint in the beginning that the toy maker was inspired by Evelyn's beauty and crafting the new construct in her image.

this episode gave me nightmares last night like I was not okay
It's kind of sad to see Diath becoming slowly embittered to the group's antics. I mean, he was always the straight man of the group, but this last tragedy in ironslagg seems to have been his breaking point and he seems utterly numb. Jared is an amazing role-player, I must say. He really brings Diath to life, even how he sinks into himself.

One of my absolute favourite episodes due to Paultin and Evelyn. I'm finding later episodes hard to watch as it feels like my heart is breaking. Paultin is a dark mirror and if he truly has feelings for Evelyn he needs to become the light that he should be and open up to her.
I have never shipped anything as hard as I do Paultin and Evelyn and Dice Camera Action is my favourite DnD stream. All credit and love to the Waffle Crew for being so brilliant. #WaffleFam.

BEST EPISODE YET! Lots of emotion and cinematic scenes that really bring the story to life. During Paultin and Evelyn's talk on the cliff you could actually see the scene play out from Paultin's "ahem" to the kiss. And Nate's nat 20 though!

After all the ... intensity that is this episode. Nate screaming "What a creep!" amused me GREATLY. Like... yes. Absolutely. The dwarf is pretty creepy. But boy howdy does that pale in the comparison of this trip...

Might I just say I just watched this episode live and I'm here again because it was probably my favorite episode I've watched of dca or maybe even just d&d in general. I love everyone's role playing in this and everything about it just keeps you captivated the whole time

I wonder if they felt the same emotion we as the viewers felt at the time, or if it 'hit' them when/if they watched it after the live stream. I was drained after it, especially when Evelyn was giving her stuff away.

So I started watching these in order a few weeks ago and I'm finally caught up. This adventure has been amazing, Chris. You are a creative individual to turn these campaigns into something very personal for the players. I am a new DM instructing a game for new players and you have given me so much insight into what I can actually do outside of the boxed text and in my own stories.
Can't wait for next week!

Finally catching up on the last few episodes I've missed and holy shit the range of emotions I just felt. This episode was lit.
This was an amazing episode, probably the best so far. All the players and Chris did such an excellent job.

This episode was truly amazing. The combat encounters went so overlong that I actually forgot how great their roleplaying was.
We need more of this and less going headfirst against an entire fire giant clan.

I love the character dynamics in this episode and the transition to other things. But also, WHAT?!
My CoS party had Van richten and dorus dad as NPC companions, and Ezmereldas wagon blew up, and after a few rounds, our sorcerer casted ice knife and killed van richten and the priest with one ice knife on accident
I started watching this series pretty late (2018) but I've seen pictures of Anna with her weird wide smile makeup for a while now and haven't been really sure what was up. Finally I have that "spoiler" explained. Perkins you crafty SOB.
Awesome episode with some amazing roleplaying, DM-ing and plot twists.
