    The new Alert has already been making an impact in my games. It’s awesome. Technically it’s not as powerful as the old version, but I like that it scales over time now and the swap feature is great for teamwork.

      I find myself wanting Alert and Magic Initiate Wizard for Find Familiar to have almost advantage on each initiative since it rolls and you can swap.

    They did really good job with balancing the feats in the new phb as there is only a couple feats that I would never consider taking to any character, and those are mostly origin feats.

    I've struggled between Crafter or Alert, flavor vs mechanics, on an Order Cleric. I figured, it does not matter whether I went first or last, although it would be better IF I did move first to get those reaction attacks before player's first turn. So I passed on Alert & picked up Crafter with buying a house/land with a 20% discount.
    Now its between Chef & Warcaster at 4th level...

    • @TheDungeonMastersTome
      @TheDungeonMastersTome  2 дня назад +2

      Remember the real power with alert is making sure the right person goes first, not just you going first. It can allow some really cool combos. But you should highly consider warcaster

    The Lucky feat has been nerfed and does only work before the roll now (you displayed the feat correctly on screen, but narrated the 2014 version). Still a great feat though.

    Musician is a cool feat, but it could have been way less tailored towards bards. Reflavouring is fine and all, but it still gives You like 3 instrument proficiencies that You may not want to be part of Your character. You can also pretend like You don’t have them, but it kind of ends up being a feelsbad thing. If it gave You a choice between persuasion proficiency and the instruments it would’ve been way better. It becomes even worse in the context of playing without custom backgrounds where its one of Your only 2 background choices for a classic paladin, but I would rather not play without custom ones.

    • @TheDungeonMastersTome
      @TheDungeonMastersTome  2 дня назад +2

      I agree that it is way too flavored for bard.

    • @DrenosNDragons
      @DrenosNDragons 2 дня назад +1

      @@sketchyfox7368 It is Bard coded, but you can work around it. A Satyr has musical undertones and an Oath of the Ancients Paladin is all about spreading the light and enjoying music and merriment.
      At the end of the day it’s an origin, a background that you left behind. It’s who you were before. Maybe you were in a band and make a deal with a devil to be the best guitarist in the world but once you had that Pact Magic you got bigger ambitions.

      @@DrenosNDragonsthis is a really good example of how origin feats can help your roleplaying

    • @sketchyfox7368
      @sketchyfox7368 2 дня назад +1

      @@DrenosNDragons Well, that right there is the problem. Musician, in the inspiration giving sense, is mechanically the perfect feat for someone that wishes to roleplay a leader-type character. Think a retired army officer and the like. But You have to either do some awkward reflavoring, or twist Your character backstory to now fit in with the way how the feat is bard coded for any character that is not a bard. Your only option for if You do not wish to deal with that baggage is to take the inspiring leader feat, which is a general feat and the existence of which in the context of musician is kind of redundant and hilarious because it does not actually let You give anyone an inspiration, so it does not feel nearly as cool or fitting.
      No other origin feat has this kind of problem. Personally, I’d replace musician with inspiring leader as an origin feat, making it function identically to how musician hands out inspirations now, but letting You choose between an instrument proficiency, performance or persuasion. It fits a lot more character concepts this way, and fits the text it has right now that specifically talks about how You can inspire others through “A speech, a song or dance”.

    • @DrenosNDragons
      @DrenosNDragons 2 дня назад +2

      @@sketchyfox7368 I hear you. I like Inspiring Leader, it’s a good feat, but it would be nice if it did what Musician does. Musician could be a general feat and do what Inspiring Leader does. And then give Chef some better scaling and make that an origin feat. That’s something anyone could pick up from their background. No class coding.

    Wait, ther's a way to get TWO epic boons? How?

    • @TheDungeonMastersTome
      @TheDungeonMastersTome  2 дня назад +2

      You can use the wish spell to exchange one feat for another and if you’re level 19 or 20 you can get boons by doing so.
      The next way is by stacking your multi class level ups so that you get a feat at 19 and 20.
      One example would be if you’re warlock 11 and paladin 7 - level up and take warlock 12 for your first epic boon. Then at next level up take paladin 8 which also gives you a feat to pick your second epic boon.
      There are many ways to multiclass that allow you to do this and since the only requirement to take an epic boon is being at least level 19 - it’s entirely legal
