For those commenting on the spelling of mourning.
    Morning - early day
Mourning - period of grief or grieving
    It was intentional

One of the greatest episodes on Chicago Med. It dealt with an issue that is often overlooked but very common, much more so than some random rare disease or terrorist threat. Not only that, it showed how different people deal with the fallout, and all were unique and touching, true to their characters. All in all, excellently done, while educating viewers on many important notions! Congrats to all the writers and staff!

This hit hard. A number of years back a work colleague decided to take the same way out, and I was one of the first responders, but all I could do was offer him some dignity by shielding him from gawking eyes until the Ambulance arrived. That was not the worse part though, that came later at the Coroners Court, coming faced to face with a grief struck Sister and having no answers to give. To this day we don't know why, and not knowing is such a bitter pill to swallow.

This scene seriously drives the humanity in this show, other than just showing drama or typical medical scenes it really shows what a death in the workplace can do to others, especially a suicide in an environment where people are meant to walk out the door healthy again. It really drives home the fact if these doctors are ok and mentally well, a superb ending with Reese taking that step and asking that simple “how are you feeling?” to Dr Charles 👏

      @xxrabbitsnipezxx5794 4 года назад +39

Dr Charles knows everything when it comes to the mind which makes me believe he's just as distraught as everyone else, if not even more so. Dr Reese learned that it's their jobs as doctors to realize their mistakes and learn from it to make sure it doesn't happen again, this is a mentality most experienced doctors like Rhodes as well as Charles have and yet, this makes it even harder for Dr Charles as he's mentioned that he's seen this situation several times before but once again he wasn't able to stop it.

Being a doctor is not just all smiles and treating patients. Its your whole life. The stress, the anxiety, it is a burden a real burden. If anything goes wrong, A doctor has to be prepared to disclose it to the attendants and family and be ready for there reaction. Some will understand while some will blame you and even resort to violence. I remember the first time I had to deal with death, my patient was a case of anemia but ended up passing away due ro cardiac arrest. I remember how was I was while doing CPR when she coded. I remember all the eyes on me. I remember, how my whole body was shaking and how I was going to tear up any moment but I had to be strong because I am a doctor. It took me a whole month to come out of this shock but I couldn't take a break. Kudos to all the healthcare workers, doctors, nurses and even paramedic staff to have a heart of lion while dealing with stressful situation.

This show is written by very gifted authors. The fact that they let the character choose his working place for his suicide. The fact that they let him choose the place where his co-workers - and presumably some of them his friends - had to find him. Did the character choose the place where he felt the most at home / or at a loss / is a streak of revenge in it? This clip doesn’t show a farewell letter so we don’t know.
Suicide is the extremest form of aggressive behavior towards oneself. Most suicidal people don’t want to die but rather they don’t want to continue their life the way it is going at that point. And they see no alternative, their view has narrowed to the extreme, death seems to be the only option.

My favourite thing about this episode was how *everyone* reacted differently. Not just the clichés of nonstop crying, angry outbursts, shutting down or throwing themselves into work. There were other, more subtle reactions, and I loved it.
I've lost three grandparents now. One I was too young to really remember, but the other two... My response to death has always been a bit psychopathic in my mind, because I have no reaction. I don't especially feel anything, or cry or shout or anything. I know how I'm *meant* to feel, but I just... don't. I'd be at the funeral, or I'd see something in some way related, and the tears wouldn't stop pouring. But as soon as I'm away from it again, it's like "out of sight, out of mind". This episode really helped me know that that's okay. That I'm not a freak or cold or heartless, just that I don't have a cliché reaction, and that's okay too.

I think the worst part is that usually in falling suicides, if they survive, they recall how they changed their mine about dying around halfway down.

Honestly this is the kind of thing that has dissuaded me from ever trying suicide again, even just through acting the pain and trauma of losing someone you know to a suicide you never saw coming is terrifying, and I couldnt do that to the people i love. Not at all putting shame on those who have done so, I hope they rest in peace. Just in a weird way I appreciate the representation

Please remember that yoour life as well as others is special. If you throw that away that's selfish.
For example, there is a reason why in my religion Islam, suicide is strictly prohibited. We are put on this earth to be tested and we all are tested in many different ways. Some ppl are tested with fear, with hunger, poverty, riches, being alone and so on. God (Allah SWT in Arabic) States "God does not Burdon a soul more than he could handle". That's why suicide is Haram or prohibited :) Have a wonderful day 💟

P.S. I’m so sorry if I offended you in anyway - I was only trying to help (in a minuscule way). But PLEASE let me know if I said the wrong thing... it will only help us to better help and understand others who have experienced something similar.
P.P.S. I have Complex PTSD (however not from a situation at all similar to yours) and many other mental illnesses. I have also attempted suicide multiple times. I just wanted you to know that so you know that I somewhat ‘get it’ I suppose...

It hurts you even more when you worked with the person but you weren’t close with them. You start to feel guilty that you could’ve done something but didn’t. You now what that shows. That you have humanity. You have feelings. It’s not wrong to blame yourself because you couldn’t possibly have known what was going to happen. The worst thing you can do is beat yourself up over it. The best thing to do is mourn and honour the broken and fallen

No matter who you are or what you do, you deserve happiness in your life . Even when life seems painful, there’s beauty in it. Search for help, talk to someone. If nobody who you know is listening, there are millions of people out here on earth, there must be at least somebody who must feel like you and made it through. You being here is a miracle and everyday is a new opportunity. Don’t give up, you can do it.
