Hey Allen, ive got an old Hitachi 1080p 42 inch (Argos) from around 15 years ago. The old girl is still going strong. Old CFL technology. The picture is perfect. Warm and welcoming. It would be poetic justice if it didn't turn on today. But i think not. They made TV's better back then.

Good fix, and you don't even have to take all those screws out.

That's an interesting diagnostic process. When testing is it ok to just plug one strip in for testing the backlight? Or will it overvolt the single strip and blow all the leds? Or does the TV know there's only a few LEDs on that single strip by sensing the current draw and adjust the voltage accordingly?

I had similar "don't forget to plug that back in" issues at a repair cafe. One of the volunteers brought in a mahoosive HP laserjet, with a sheet of A4 wrapped around the fuser. After getting in I said "remind me to plug that great big obvious connector back in". She laughed. I got the paper out (oddly the only place it doesn't detect a paper jam) and reassembled. Unfortunately, fully reassembled.
I went to do a test print. Motor error. Even after making a point of it at the time hoping it'd stick in my mind...
Cue another 15 minutes of wrestling with plastic clips, but ultimately none were broken and the printer worked.

You can easy break off that pin inside the screw with a flat screwdriver or something similar, so you can use a normal torx screwdriver ...

A small Bristol spline wrench works on the non-pin n the middle security screws. If it is the pin type, a pinch & small hammer readily snaps the pin off. Problem solved.

Another oldie saved with a new diode.
Re HDMI issues, the newer Hisense models use their own VIDAA o/s
and it can cause issues with not handshaking with connected devices.
Despite firmware updates the the problem persits.
My advice is to avoid this brand.

I'm looking for a new TV for 4K Xbox gaming. Hisense is not on my radar. My old Hitachi 42 is great but the text on the new Xbox Series X games can be hard to read.
