- Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Tori Amos began writing her memoir Resistance by asking: “Can we out-create the destructiveness that is all around us?” Over her prolific career, Amos has used music to resist the power structures she sees at work in such tumultuous events as 9/11, #MeToo, and the climate crisis. Believing that music is a form of activism and a cure for what she deems (inter)national trauma, Amos crafts personal lyrics that serve as political anthems. Join Amos and Senior Writer at the A.V. Club Katie Rife for a live stream conversation on how we can channel the hope and courage of music-making for our time.

I wonder if Tori knows about archetypal astrology and how much she is aware of her own natal birth chart archetypes. Her Sun is in Leo (Apollo, Helius, Hercules), her Moon is in Libra (Aphrodite, Venus....Santa from ADP), and her Rising Sign is Scorpio (Hades, Pluto). Her Sun is in the 9th house (love of travel, philosophy, higher learning, dogmas, etc.) Her music is awesome and every song is a journey. Her music take us to the far reaches of the galaxy. What a treat! Can't wait for her new record!

Tori Amos is amazing, but I did not care much for the interviewer. She lost me during her awkward pause after Tori disclosed the pain of having lost her mother and best friend, Beanie, and how she fumbled trying to contextualize Tori's point about empathy. I just felt like she had no idea of the love and intimacy Tori shared with those two beautiful people and it's disappointing it wasn't handled with a little more insight and tact.
I love Tori Amos.
