  • UPDATE:
    ===============================================================================
    Hey everyone! So, I foolishly created my original RUclips channel using my school email which is soon to be deleted by my school to make room for the new students. RUclips had also updated their guidelines for accounts marked as under 18 so I was therefore unable to upload or even comment on RUclips videos with that account. Sorry for the confusion I may have created by uploading all my videos here. I couldn't figure out how to move them over so I guess I'll just start over here! I hope you still enjoy my videos :)
    Unfortunately, the old description has been lost to time :/
    Btw, happy New Years everyone!

      Yeah, I definitely plan to. But this piece is super hard so I want to make sure I get right next time

    I wonder to know how to practice 0:46 to make it sounds smoothly

    • @CharlesMaPiano
      @CharlesMaPiano  Год назад +1

      Animenz's 2020 version was a bit disconnected but his 2013 one was very smooth. It's just a scale so if you play it over and over again slowly you should be able to nail it.
      This recording is pretty bad since I messed up the software settings so I recorded it in mono :(

    Really good stuff! Many consider this to be Animenz's hardest arrangement (including myself), so being able to play it to this level is definitely something to be proud of. The trills starting at 3:43 are really something else. May I ask how long you worked on this piece for?

      Thank you for the comment :)
      I also agree that this is his hardest since it combined musicality and technique meanwhile unravel is mostly just technique.
      I learnt this piece all the way back in 2020, I think around August and then recorded it in early February 2021 so that's around 6 months. But, I also had final exams in November - December where I took a little break from piano so I guess it's around *4 months spent practicing* . I don't think I was really ready for that piece and this was only the second time I used my new mics so there's still a lot of room to improve.

    I stumbled across your channel recently and have been binging all your covers, you’re an extremely talented pianist and I think it’s be cool if you streamed your practice process when learning new pieces or even made a video on it.

      Thanks! I've considered streaming my practicing but I usually only practice for ~1hr and it's a bit all over the place haha. May consider it when I get more subs though!

    Maybe it's just the microphone you're using, the microphone position, or the echo, but I think it would have been better if there was a clearer/louder sound coming from the steinway. But overall the performance was great, I liked the smooth scales :)

    • @CharlesMaPiano

      I think I accidentally set the track to mono and the mic position wasn't that good as well. I also tried to set the volume a bit lower to hide the pedal and una corda pedal noise since this piano is so noisy but that made it too quiet. This is a re-upload so I'm not sure where the original file is unfortunately. Thanks for the comment though! I'll try re-record this piece with the experience I have now :)
      Oh btw, the mics are a pair of Neumann KM184 (cardioid). They seem like solid mics so I think I'm the one to blame. Do you have an opinion on them?

    • @kelvinwarrior5895
      @kelvinwarrior5895 2 года назад +2

      @@CharlesMaPiano From what I read Animenz also uses a Neumann KM184, I've never recorded audio before so I wouldn't know but I think that's a solid mic. Otherwise I think it's just a matter of messing around with the audio until you hit the sweet spot.

      @@CharlesMaPiano Sorry, after listening to your Oregairu cover I think it was just the positioning in this video that made it sound softer
