Honestly I’d love a remake of the first two (three if you count both 2s) persona games in the style of the later entries. While the old style has its charms and followers, I think it’s clear modern games sell MUCH better, and have a broader appeal. Plus, the stories are absolutely fascinating, and I’d love for Altus to go back and play with them now that they have better tools with which to tell them.
I would appreciate if they updated the combat to be more streamlined as it is in the modern Persona games, but that's probably the only thing I'd ask for: trying to squeeze in social links and social stats probably wouldn't fit them (granted, I haven't played much of them, so take my argument with a pinch of salt). But yeah, it would be cool if they re-released the PS1 trilogy on modern systems. Would at least be nice to have an official way to play P2:IS on a TV outside of Japan
@@aionicthunder Yeah, you're right. The social sim elements don't work in P1/2. For one, there's no filler between story bits so you can't have any time between them to focus on improving your relationship with one specific character. Second, the games take place over the course of a few days, and you can't stretch it out to a year without seriously buggering the whole game.
Outside of remaking the combat more digestible for people who either don't like to play JRPGs/don't have the time for them and also making the game entirely 3D (which could ironically be a detriment since the game had a lot of demons not found in other entries or that they don't even have a design or artwork to go off of for a 3D model, hence creating even more busywork) I honestly can't say that trying to make them any more modern than that would be a good idea. Hell with mainline SMT constantly gaining more and more sales with every main numbered entry released it essentially shows that Atlus can spend less time making a JRPG with bloat and poor pacing shoved into it all over the place due to a gimmicky progression system (with way too much devtime spent on it for what we get!), and instead just make a standard JRPG experience with a quality story and satisfying turn based gameplay which would still make a good return on profits that justifies the time spent making the product. Especially now since SMTV has laid the groundwork presumably for for more games made in UE4. But I'd honestly prefer for Atlus to put something like the Summoner or Survivor spinoffs in the limelight again instead of just hyperfocusing on Persona.
If Atlus remade them, then they should make the gameplay more towards mainline style than modern Persona. Also, keep the five party members battle system, each party member with multiple personas(no such thing as wild card exclusivity for the mc), demons, NOT shadows, DEMONS; also demon negotiations(with a dark humor as in mainline, for example like how it is in P1), demon spell cards for creating new personas in the velvet room, NO dating simulator and NO social links(since there's a demon invation and possibly the end of the world going on during the story of each game, there's no time for ice cream dates).
