    • @mrcaos999
      @mrcaos999 2 года назад +2

      Medina struggles on first play trough though. As you likely not have the gold to buy many idems and she is also very slow at first.
      She falls flat combared to Gaele and her "revive" skill or Cordelia, later who can provide the most potent healing as long as she not moves.
      On my pov Medina's strengh was more the Option to actual having some attack option while the other healers are just healers.
      My lis:
      1: Anna, having base 2 turns is just very strong and she is also one of the quicked units. Her ultimate also helps to set up kills on stronger enemies, as it cuts away all def/res.
      2: Maxwell, same reason as you. He is just a very good unit overall
      3: Achibald, i mean this sniper really is one of the strongest range damage dealer you get and he can fight from save range.
      4: Hughette, flying archer that can reach every place and can become a auto canon for one turn is also very good. And her two dbuffs are also helpful most of the time.
      5: Benedict, dancer that can give two turns. Fun
      6: Cordelia, she is the most powerful healer. As long as she can stay in one place her high TP cost also never matter. (besides she can increase max hp of units!)
      7: Frederica, she may only knows fire magic. But she can reach very high damage numbers and each kill refreshes her tp. (and its not hard to kill with her). Her ultimate is also a very strong Aoe if you manage to set it up properly.
      8: Serenoa, he is one of the most reliable close combat units you get. There is no reason to not use him!
      9: Erador, He is a tank and does tank stuff. And he does it very good.
      10: Piccoletta, her overall skills are not very good. However her "clon" skill is very useful. As her clon pulls aggro and is able to pick up items. So she basicly can create a free tank to distract enemys.

    • @rpg_haven
      @rpg_haven 2 года назад +6

      Anna starts out as the best unit in the game, but by chapter 10 or so, I often don't field her. She's not nearly as useful as many of the other units and certainly not enough to be worth deploying on most maps. In this game, units should be either doing LOTS of damage, or playing a key support role on every turn. Anna does neither. I can never justify using her over one of my mages, one of my strong physical damage dealers, or a great support unit like Medina.
      Lategame maps aren't big enough for Anna to be of much use, on hard mode anyway. (Every unit is fantastic on Normal and below.)

      @jpbo98 2 года назад +11

      @@rpg_haven I mostly agree, but I what I usually do is either use her ability to hide to mess with the AI and cheese maps or use her double ability to take advantage of follow up attacks and technically give someone else with high attack multiple hits. Also if she gets Benedict’s double attack she ends up doing 4 actions in one turn giving her really good adaptability overall.
      She isn’t the BEST unit, but she is my favorite gameplay wise to use; always great to have and doesn’t completely break the game

    • @XenithShadow

      @@rpg_haven Since she auto wins every map in which you can kill the healers (assuming no extra failure conditions such as dont lose X, or win in X turns). She does struggle in the later smaller maps where she can't easily get the the back line to kill them. She auto win non healer maps as when no units are visible the enemies will just stand around and with no healers to heal them anna can chip them down slowly. She would have to eat alot of healing items when killing enemies with melle counter though. She can also do intresting effects with items due to her permanent double action. Examples include oil into fire gem.
      I am curious who your valuing over anna. I'm guessing a 4th mage? or a 4th archer depending on recruits.

    • @Zeik56
      @Zeik56 2 года назад +5

      Anna was the only unit I never wanted to take off my team, except occasionally when grinding exp, because she was almost always my strongest and most leveled unit. Her damage output wasn't necessarily the highest, but she has so much utility. She's great at setting up follow up attacks, which in most cases makes up her lower base damage. She can pretty reliably cc enemies with sleep. Traverse heights to reach places most non-flyings can't. Cover makes her effectively invulnerable in most scenarios. Her ult does very solid damage and lowers def/mdef to kill tough enemies quicker. And her double actions means she can reliably take advantage of items to buff/debuff or heal or even throw out some magic items without feeling like I was wasting her turn.
      Anna, Erador, and Geena/Medina were consistently the cornerstone of winning almost every battle in the game for me.

    Keep in mind, I've only played hard mode so far
    Characters I loved using are:
    Erador - Provoking healers is funny as shit
    Piccoletta - Decoy has the best mobility in the game. Sure it's a bit costly, but with Julio or Medina it's pretty constant. Also buffing the decoy with Bulwark is funny too
    Cordelia - Regen on any tank is really good. Especially paired with a Regen ring.
    Hughette - Sights set is so fucking cool and is the coolest move in the game. Paired with her passive, insult to injury, and crit rings/bracelets/amulets let's her pump out some massive damage. Also blind is a broken status effect
    Anna - perfect for taking down pesky healers and mages as those are the only things she can deal damage to in hard mode. She can dodge pretty consistently

    • @rpg_haven
      @rpg_haven 2 года назад +3

      Both Piccolette and Anna kind of suck on hard mode, at least in the later chapters. Anna's... fine, but she's a waste of a slot when what you really need on Hard mode is is damage output. Same with Piccoletta-distracting enemies is nice, but it's better to just kill them.
      Also, dodging in this game is too inconsistent to be worth it. It ain't like Fire Emblem.

    I know she’s not the best, but Picoletta is such an interesting character for me. A circus character is not a super rare concept, and neither is the decoy(even though it’s still fun and great). What makes her really fun and fascinating is that she’s a damage item based character which I think is something very interesting. I really like the range of characters in this game both in what they bring in combat and the diversity of people in age and background. I think it’s something fire emblem should take notes on.

    Decimal is my favorite to use. The combo with the Obsidian Anklet is fun, for one. Hitting things from across the map is intrinsically satisfying, especially getting a lucky OHKO with 5s. Landing 4s in combination with some ice patches slows enemies down almost to a stop. 7s are unreliable, but really funny to just pop someone across the map.
    Hitting enemies seems to aggro them (although TS AI is funky so idk), which makes Decimal a selective lure as much as an AOE damage dealer.
    But nothing compares to his use on the bridge maps. First, hitting enemies across the closed gates is possible and fun. But more impressive, despite what it might seem, archers can't hit you at the base of the ladders going down to the water. Decimal can deal over 1000 damage in a single blow, spread across 8 or more enemies at once, and that's just silly.

  • @allyrose9494

    Anna was easily my fave to use, there’s something SO satisfying about being able to attack 2 times per turn, plus I love thief styled classes in general so that helps. There are people who don't like farming or take it as a challenge to not overly farm for resources. We then prefer to invest our coins first on permanent weapon upgrades. Playing this way, it's not until very late NG+ that you have enough disposable currency to throw items around to consistently use her and lionel unless you really just focus resources on a small group of units to have a larger cash pool. There are units ranked lower in tier lists just coz they don't fit a player's style but are still perfectly good units, then there are units that totally cannot be used unless a player has a certain style. If you don't farm at all in optional battles, medina cannot be used for more than a battle or two.

    • @ancientspark375
      @ancientspark375 2 года назад

      @@pul0y In those cases, it's better to just make that specification known at the beginning of the tier list. No grind/low money runs are entirely different than other metas not only with regards to money intensive characters, but the fact that it's less worthwhile to use ANY character with overly conditional uses due to lower XP and being unable to pool weapon upgrades.
      People just assume grind heavy playstyles for normal tier lists because there's nothing in the game that stops you from doing so (unlike in a lot of FEs where it's not really intended, but more a consequence of being able to hit a boss with regenerating health repeatedly). TS arguably makes grinding more intended than a lot of other strategy RPGs even because its balancing is much more strict around it (harder XP clamping in particular and very obvious "this is what level you should be").

      @pul0y 2 года назад

      @@ancientspark375 that's why in my actual comment to the video and not a reply, I did state that I am waiting for a listing with the qualifiers he mentioned at the beginning. Here I am just trying to elucidate to some how their fave unit wouldn't be liked by a certain group of people beyond basically assuming that they are all stupid people who don't know how to play. And tbh, this game doesn't make grinding = farming. You can grind much faster if you do not farm at all and just use your highest level map, spam your turn order shenanigans, and then retreat. Hell, most farming protocols do not use grinding maps at all as most would use rapid clear mental battles to farm which aren't at all efficient grinding maps.

    While trying for the Golden Route, I did the map where you fought Avlora in Wolffort, and despite only having Milo left with about 10+ enemies, I managed to cheese it by jumping to the roof while recharging my TP and then Tempting the enemies.
    I got her 1st between the 4 optional characters and I would lie if I said I didn't choose based on the fact that the game seemed to hint towards which path allowed me to keep her, I mean, just look at her >_>

      I love Milo, too. While tempt is awesome and shouldn't be underrated, neither should her defenses-she's a monster. I like putting the Resurrection Ring on her so she just never dies. It seems like she _should_ be a frail unit due to how great temptation is, but nope, she's a wall.

    I'm on chapter 10 so this might change later on, but right now, my main team is: Serenoa, Roland, Anna, Hughette, Frederica, Geela, Narve, Corentin, Benedict, and Hossabarra. It's a good combination of physical and magical damage plus healers. I like mages who can also function as healers too, which is why I used Narve rather than Ezana. If I can have 11, then I'll add Erador back into the main team, since I've been keeping him up to par thanks to the grinding at the camp base. Hopefully the game will give more unit slots, because 10 isn't very much to use. But I'm definitely enjoying the game thus far. 14 hours in by chapter 10.

      Ehhhh, one extra action for 3 TP cost (it's not actually 2 turns, since you waste the turn you cast it)? Might as well just use Benedict, who can pay 3 TP to give one extra action to _any_ unit, not just Trish, or Medina, who only needs 2 TP to do the same thing.
      Trish sucks.

    Medina is a beast. I suspect she probably won't get used by too many first-run players as you'll be strapped for cash and resources without doing an absurd level of farming, and by the end you'll likely have access to at least two magical-based healers who are less costly. But I've played enough strategy RPGs to know that chemist/apothecary types very frequently outdo your more conventional healers, but man if you give Medina a full pantry she's just absurd.
    Jens is kind of an unsung hero of my playthrough. There aren't too many instances where he's really useful but when he is he is heaven sent. He completely changed the flow of those touchy bridge fights with the twins. Early on in one I managed to throw one of them off the battlefield and basically remove them from the fight while I handled the other one. He turned an arduous map into one I was doing victory laps around.

Frederica's tp on kill with the Blazing Chains buffs means she can basically attack every turn even without Medina or Julio being a tp battery for her and I just love hopping around the map with Trish plus fire arrows. Thankfully she really is amazing unit and she does decent damage when necessary, can heal twice in one turn, can rcover tp twice in one turn, can poison enemies and make aaly turn come faster. There is simply no reason not to use her.

    Flanagan is one of the best units in the game with his weapon skill that reduces all damage to units surrounding him, you can literally just bait enemies into your mage's that surround him, he can even attack with aerial assault and return to tanking for them, i like to have tp batteries like Medina in there to keep the mages killing, Decimal seems to do very well in that group as well as he will constantly be able to use his abilities while being tanky himself

  • @Apolleh

    In terms of characters not mentioned here, I think my votes would go to Trish and Giovanna
    Trish may not be as powerful as Archibald, but don't under estimate Act Twice. She can easily run in, take a shot, take another shot, then run away to safety without worry. She essentially gets 4 turns at the cost of 1 turn to reactivate
    Giovanna I fully admit is very situational and suffers greatly when many maps lack non-rocky terrain, but I just find her fun to use. Her ridiculous movement def helps her TP hungry skills with Terrain Trekker, and said skills hit HARD. She's just honestly a fun character to play with.

    I've found some units are way better in this game depending on if you are in New Game+, on a first play through on Normal, or are on a first play through on Hard. On my first play through on hard, going for the Golden Ending, Julio was absolutely indispensable. Being able to use him to enable Benedict's Now!! is super clutch in the first Avlora map if you are trying to avoid setting the houses on fire. He also supports Corentin a lot in the early game enabling Ice Wall to always be up when I needed it to be. Medina replaces him later on with TP Physick but until you can unlock it for her as well as get your money up to pay for all her items, Julio is stupid levels of clutch.

    I would have expected Narve to make it onto the list if Ezana was too. I consider then relative in usefulness.
    And I agree with Medina at the top. When I first got her, she wasn't exactly contributing very much because due to her lack of decent damage, and poison pallet honestly didn't help with anything significant. And then she got fast acting medicine and TP physic and all of a sudden she was like getting a Generation of Miracles onto your basketball team!!

    • @Faerghast

      its a great passive but he does struggle early to keep his TP in check since his aptitudes are relatively costly. It also requires set-up for ice terrain, but yeah its definitely a great option

      @@Faerghast I do agree with him being not so good before he gets that ability, but I don't think setting ice terrain is a problem. Frederica's skill that gives +1 TP after a kill also lets her not need a TP battery, without having to stand on special terrain. Corentin's skill is _worse_ than hers, not better.

      Everyone who says Quahaug is the best character doesn't understand the game's mechanics. You shouldn't ever need Quahaug, and while he IS great, he takes up a slot that could be used for a damage-dealer instead. He's overrated.
