I've been cutting coil springs for about ten years or so. My first mod on my SCT was to lower it by cutting the coils. Everybody told me, "You can't do that"...well, it works.
I just had mine apart yesterday going to oil filled...wish I would have remembered to do this then. Oh well, thanks for the reminder. Definitely the way to go with the K5. I like that lower ride height
Man. Can’t wait to get this into my garage and start playing with it. Thanks for the heads up on the free mod. Was probably my only complaint with the stance of this rig is that it sits to high, but that sorts it out with added benefit of lower cg as well and a much better overall scale look👌
Heck yeah I appreciate this tip, I will probably be doing the same to my orange and white one, I have different plans for my black one. Arrival time is supposed to be May 8
Appreciate info. Got the brown and yellow on the way. It's looked vintage to me that's what made me choose that color. All of them looks awesome though. May even get more the other body colors too. Thing looks amazing.
I’ve been playing with my format too. In my last couple of videos I also moved the crawling to the beginning. The other thing I’ve noticed, shorter format (4-6) min tend to have better retention .
good mod, for those that dont have shock pliers you can slide the spring down, grip the plastic body and unscrew the top, then use a m1.6 to remove the shock shaft. keep up the great videos!
At least in the 1/10 scale, jconcepts does some killer Baja pro x sort of tire(tusk) Whenever you see some in stock, grab em up. They are one of the best tires I've ever used.
I did somewhat. They are on the merch site. Being made and shipped by whoever fourthwall uses. Unfortunately they are more expensive than I wanted them to be but I honestly priced them as low as they would even allow 😆
hello, i just want to say your videos are awesome, especially the camera work, i just got a fms k5 yesterday and i went to make a little video, it was a disaster, i take notes form watching yours haha. i was wondering if there is mods or upgrades to help with the noise the fms comes stock with lol i love the k5 blazer, it's so good, but my animals hate the noise it makes so i cant play indoors with it as much as i want yet, i was hoping there was some way to make it less loud somehow
Love the free mod videos, the K5 with the small drop and that wheel/tire combo looks awesome. Bonus points for the footage with your son wearing the 2FM RC t-shirt. What weight oil are you running in your stock shocks? same weight front/back?
I appreciate it. Running 10wt oil front and rear atm. Could probably go up a bit with it since the hard body gives more weight up top. It seems to do pretty well though.
Awesome video, my K5 has been shipped. When the shock unloads and the spring doesn't take up the whole "range" of the shock, does the short spring find it's place again and not get all caught up in the shock components, I wonder how long can you do this before the springs deform, have you done this on anything you're still running?
How you travelling with it. Have you added a bunch of brass at it yet? Im struggling to overcome this heavy body. Everything else I have outcrawls this thing and leaves it for dead. My scx24’s and traxxas included only thing this thing has going for it right now is how cool it looks. Or is it just me?
yo 2fm rc got a question for ya bud. what do you think about puttin the 27% overdrive on the front AND the rear of the trx4m with crawler gears to keep that low speed but give it a tiny bit more speed on the top end? kind of a work around to get around the super slow gear ratio since they wont make a good gear set inbetween the crawler and the stock gears
It can be done. I’ve put the Trx4m axles on an scx24 transmission so you do do it easily with these. You just have to make a driveshaft work because the output shaft on the Trx4m driveshaft is larger than the ones on the fcx or scx. So you either have to drill out an scx/fcx driveshaft or find one that the splines will match the half you attach to the Trx4m axle. Then just sort the links out because they’ll have to be changed I would say just due to the different mounting points.
after i watch this i'm gonna go try and see if there is any k5 blazer body STL files , maybe i can 3d print bodies cuz i already snapped off both mirrors in like the first 3 roll overs so that was a bummer, or maybe i should 3d print the mirrors lol

Exactly it’s kinda goofy how tall it is. Also I want to race it around the house more of a basher
Heck yeah I appreciate this tip, I will probably be doing the same to my orange and white one, I have different plans for my black one. Arrival time is supposed to be May 8
Did they already ship them?
Super simple 👍 thanks
I'm still waiting for my one to arrive.
That is giving me lots of time to plan all my mods😎
Absolutely the way to go for lowering. I did it the same way with all my FCX24‘s but cut off also the rear springs.
Appreciate info. Got the brown and yellow on the way. It's looked vintage to me that's what made me choose that color. All of them looks awesome though. May even get more the other body colors too. Thing looks amazing.

Man I love the way the hardbody scratches. It looks really good unlike the traxxas hardbodies.

Yep! I have oil in mine so I didn’t wanna go that route lol
I did the same thing when I got my Smasher V2. I took 3 coils off to add a little bit of sag, mostly for looks. This thing is a beast though.
The driving in the beginning probably keeps new viewers attention better too!
Great simple free mod bro. I'm still digging the factory set-up for now. Aluminum shock upgrade will be an upgrade down the road, I'm sure.
Awesome man. I have these same wheel and tyre combo ready for when I receive my K5.
Awesome job so far course is looking great, Yep I’m here watching three hours later I guess
Rig looks good, I can’t wait to get mine, I have a pile of parts to go on! I’m likin the new mountain too great video.
That last run was pretty sweet......and I like to hear you say oil and coil lol
cool new look, RC with great adventure, always good videos bro👍👍😃
Earned a sub!!! Mines in the mail and will be here Saturday I can't wait
Really appreciate that! Hope you love it!
Great video can't wait till my K5 gets here!
Heck yeah! I can’t wait to start seeing some mods people do and the different builds out there.
Just hoot nine for Christmas. I will be adding this mod TO-NITE! Liked & Subbed.
Thanks! 👊🏾
Really appreciate it! Hope it works well!
My man. I love it, one day I'll be there with you my friend
My plans are to scale mine out. Interior, inner fenders,SSD slot mags, scale locking hubs, and some detailing to make that K5 body pop.
Leave it alone! That's the perfect stance.
The most elegant mods are often the simplest. Here I was expecting you to add a taller shock tower. Lol
Lol nope! I prefer cutting over adding 😆
Yes I like this new format ! Keep up the great content 💯

You've got one of the best micro RC channels
Really appreciate that!
Great video man !
Really appreciate it!
Super helpful. Can’t wait to get mine. Should be here soon! Did you ever get your stickers set up?
I did somewhat. They are on the merch site. Being made and shipped by whoever fourthwall uses. Unfortunately they are more expensive than I wanted them to be but I honestly priced them as low as they would even allow 😆

Been waiting for another video 🎉 awesome man
Great option I’m gonna be looking into maybe a different chassis for better shock mounting locations to lower it down
You're the best, for sure!
Great video, like the format

I thought they shipped out may 11th?
@Jack Higgins mine had a shipping label last Friday, it's at OHare Airport of all places now
I love my FCX18 LC80 no cutting needed.
You are always enjoyable, ilggy

Which brass portal weights Are those I see you have brass on all four corners
Those are these Samix weights. Expensive but good weight to them.

How did you get the Rc4wd stamped beadlocks to fit this rig?
after i watch this i'm gonna go try and see if there is any k5 blazer body STL files , maybe i can 3d print bodies cuz i already snapped off both mirrors in like the first 3 roll overs so that was a bummer, or maybe i should 3d print the mirrors lol
Also the optimal way to lower a 1992 Chrysler LeBaron.
(Dont) ask me how I know, lol
Lol nice!
What will not told do you use to get in between the lug nut bolts on these steelies I can't find nothing small enough
What wheels are those with the swampers?
Have you greased the portal axles?
I’m pretty sure I just fried my esc in my fcx24 do you know of a esc I can put in it that I can use my stock transmitter
👍
Doesn't it rub now???
Do a comp with someone else in that spot!!
Once I get more of it done I definitely plan to do some local fun comps out here!
And film it please.
