Jeez, we got Game of Thrones on Retro Rebuild now, thought I tuned the wrong channel! Sure that's a metric adjustable spanner bro but not argueing with the Viva King
Nice one Viva King 😂 In all seriousness, don't ever worry that what you're doing is or isn't interesting enough. The majority of us that watch videos like this are VERY easily pleased, and even changing the wheel nuts will make us watch solidly for at least ten minutes! 😂 You're doing a great job mate, and it's fantastic to see a lovely piece of motoring history slowly but consistently come back to life again. It's all the little jobs that make the difference. And I tell ya what... considering that engine is almost half a century old, it purrs like a Swiss watch...so you must be doing something right! Keep up the fantastic work mate; the videos are always great fun to watch 👍 - Steve
Thank you mate, appreciate it, I'm just tidying it up for now but I think it would make a great vid respraying it in a future vid once I get moved and get another project car 👍
I was out in the garage fixing my car, but I came in to have a cuppa and made the fatal mistake of opening up the laptop and found you had posted another video. Sod the caffeine, I've now had my Viva fix for the week! Great as always!
Others have said this about how they would be out on the driveway doing little bits and bobs! This reminds me of when my Dad would buy a car cheap and we would spend the weekends fettling, changing parts, sorting little niggles out. He bought a 4 x door Viva in the early 90's, worn out mechanically but the body was perfect! Something that has been bugging me recently is every viva I see, appears to be riding high on its wheels... but the one my Dad had I swear it was lowered a bit? the memory of this made think the car had this certain look about it.
Sounds like great memories mate, the springs I've used on mine I've used to lower the viva but it did sit quite low anyway when i got it , I know people used to heat the springs up to compress them back in the day to lower them because mine hadn't been cut maybe someone did that👍
See what you're doing with the crown there, very timely.😅 Seeing you do up the driveshaft bolts brought back memories of when i was seventeen, working with a mechanic. He got me to undo the propshaft bolts on a blue HC Viva. One of the spanners slipped, hitting me in the eye. I can still see the stars... Anyway, another great one, bro.
The viva king. Undoubtedly. Having seen the coronation yesterday, and with most of the flypast abandoned due to the weather. The balcony party should have been treated to a yellow viva drive past. That would have Been total justification for all the work you have put in.
Your vids will never get boring cos its like hangin round with yer best mate doin stuff .. Halfords , they have a 2 tier pricing policy. If you can get hold of a trade card they offer amazing prices on par with the best motor factors. If youre a mere mortal however they're expensive as. With some very unjustifiable prices . Which is why they're known as halfrauds in a lot of places Wonder will the viva go faster now its got triumph GT parts on it 😁 Keep on being you. Cheers.. P.s don't put lucas oil treatment in a turbo diesel. It starves them of oil.
Old engine oil is ideal to brush on or spray on the rusty parts after wirebrushing the underside chassis , saves taking it to the recycling area. So now you have one of those universal imperial spanners there's no stopping you now 😃. Viva the king 👍
Hi Steve , thanks for showing the IMPERIAL adjustable spanner , been looking for one for many years and wow you have one 👌🏻 but I found another guy online selling them at £75 each 🤔 sure you can’t match that price or lower 😁😉. You find most Halfords stores next to Greggs, McDonald’s, KFC etc because they are all in cahoots to keep us all chubby & happy in our Retro Work , suits me lol 😂.
Hi Steve, Love your video’s and content. I’m from Jarrow but been living in Perth Western Australian for 24 years. I tune in to get my North East fix and love your enthusiasm. You motivate me 👍. I count my blessings now as remember working out in the rain on the drive on my 1968 MK 3 Spitfire when I was 18. I now have a 1974 Jensen Healey which shares your Viva’s front suspension. BTW I reckon the 2nd Lethal Weapon and Plant of the Apes movies were better than the 1st 🤔. Keep up the good work. Cheers Carl
Nice work as ever. I would have advised changing the washer on the oil sump bolt while you were at it. Oil filter OK ? The car sounds really sweet now and I love the immediate start.
Thank you mate, i havent found any sump washers on my searches, but it's not leaking from there so it's good for now 😁 I've just changed the oil filter not so long a go I've only been round the block on it, me too mate, when it's a bit colder she normally takes a couple of turns, but at the minute she's starting on the button 👍
I personally use metric adjustable spanner’s, I’ve got the full set 😮lol 😊 Ps……that oil change definitely made a difference, the engine sounds nicer to me . Pps…..you’re going to have to make a video on cleaning the interior 😅

Your videos make sense to me, but that could be that I am as daft as you haha.
You're right, that Lucas oil treatment is really good stuff but don't put too much in if you already have good oil pressure as it can send it through the roof and you then risk blown oil seals, leaks etc - just don't ask me how I know!
