Hello, I’m so happy I found this Channel.
Just started doing maintenance on this filter.
I was completely at a lost, this video helped a lot.
I also saw that Hidrospin filter. Looks nice.
    Thank you!

Wonderful DIY video, although you can also try to:
    1. Remove the MPV O-ring gasket to prevent damage while putting new sand media.
    2. Always check the laterals and make sure every individual strainer are tightly attached, clean and in good condition.
    3. Try using a sand scooper at least up to half of the sand media bag before directly pouring to prevent weight tension in the
sand filter lid lining and body as it may also cause damage and inflict injury to your back, better safe than sorry...
    4. Always apply lubricants (eg Vaseline etc) to all O-ring gasket and facing to prolong its life and secure a better sealing.
    5. Cantabric sand filters are better kept shaded as it is more prone to UV damage compare to Aster or Vesubio models.
    Thanks and more power ^_^

If i follow this procedure with my cantabric filter and put the valve into 'rinse' mode, the water is just going to the drain instead of going through the bottom outlet of the filter.....

Very enjoyable and a good watch if you can actually get into the thing. I have an inherited, and no doubt quite old, Astral Pool Cantabric Sand Filter with a top assembly and serial number 15B047697 but I cannot shift the locking collar to get the valve off to replace the sand in the filter. I have washed it down and have now applied some WD40 in the hope it may loosen it up. I have tried tapping the lugs gently via a block of wood but no sign of shifting. I dread hitting it hard with a hammer as if damaged it will probably be difficult if not impossible to get a spare. Any and all sensible suggestions on how to remove the collar will be welcome.

Useful video - thanks ! Same principles for side mounted valve, too.

Yes it is almost the same, but on a side mounted MPV you will be removing the top lid cover instead...
