A holes like Maitland were real, just look at state in UK today, years of "enlightenment" has turned England into a foreign country, something that 50 years ago was never imaginable.

1993,I went to England in the 90s decade for holidays from 1991 ,I was 10 And I never knew this Show .I began to watch it in 2022 from Series 23 .
Maitland was a whopper
That's putting it mildly...This show produced some great characters, but there was plenty of useless fillers too - Maitland is very much the latter.

This was around 1993, right ? £15.00 for a bottle of whiskey sounds pretty steep back then !
Should of never arrested that shopkeeper !The guy wouldn't have to retaliate if there was a deterant .
