Empress as usual great reaction to a great song..Paul McCartney was the bass guitarist for The BEATLES and one of there song writers still great after The Beatles....McCartney wrote this song in response to drug laws that criminalized him and his friends (including fellow "bands on the run" Eagles and Byrds). "We're not criminals," he explained. "We just would rather do this than hit the booze - which had been a traditional way to do it. We felt that this was a better move."
It was 1972 Paul McCartney had a brand new group called the wings. And he was trying to go back on the road and saying live. And the first time since 1966 he was gonna go back on the road and sing live.. Paul McCartney wings was literally Was a band on the run.
Paul went on location to record this album and most band members didn’t show so it was him playing most of the instruments with Denny Lane on acoustic guitar and Linda McCartney ( Paul’s wife) on keyboards! He was also robbed by knife point while at the location! Check out the story for more details!
Love all of Paul's work with the Beatles & solo with Wings. I had so many of his records. "Band On The Run" is one of the best. But so many other great songs such as "Jet", Live & Let Die", "Listen To What The Man Said", "Silly Love Songs", "Let 'Em In", "My Love", "Helen Wheels", "Let Me Roll It", "Junior's Farm", "Maybe I'm Amazed", "Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey", "Venus & Mars/Rock Show", "Mull Of Kintyre", "With A Little Luck" etc.
This is one my favorite songs by Wings, mainly because of the journey it takes the listener on... & Sir Pauly's voice along w/ the early harmonies. Loving your expressions & surprised faces at the song's changes.
Love Paul McCartney. He was the first artist I ever listened to when I was a kid, after listening to childrens songs. Love your reaction also. So natural. You are a very sexy and attractive woman Empress! 😊❤ God bless you.
To add to what others have said... the song is full of allusions to: the legal break-up of the Beatles, ongoing at the time ("if we ever get out of here" echoes what George Harrison said at one of their bitter legal meetings); the actual break-up of Paul's then current band Wings which occurred at the 11th hour just as they were about to fly to Lagos to record this album (guitarist Henry McCullough and drummer Denny Seiwell bailed out at the last minute - the "rabbits on the run" - leaving just Paul with his wife Linda and Denny laine - Paul said f*** them, we're going to make an album they'll be sorry they missed, and he did); "the rains exploded with a mighty crash as we fell into the sun" is a terrific poetic description of descending in their small plane towards Lagos, Nigeria, for the first time, and the thundery weather which was the backdrop to the recording of the album. There's a lot packed into this, not just musically, but lyrically too. Great composition.
😎Good morning 🌄Love your reaction and that smile. it makes my day. "As we fell into the sun' and "The 1st one said to the 2nd one there". Are a couple of my all time favorites lyrics. Every time I see a litter of puppies , I hear the Lyrics - Poppies Poppies Poppies - From the song - Existential Blues - Echoing in my head. The Beatles were banned in Israel and nearly banned in the Philippines and the the US. I seem to remember one specifically of them being banned for drugs.
Great reaction as usual. The album topped the charts twice! Paul has said this may not just be a break out of prison but could also be a band on tour. And it was recorded in your country.
Another good reaction to a brilliant song, so many things to recommend for Paul McCartney. With transitioning, a great one is "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey". Also in the All the Best album is "Let em In" which someone else recommended; "Live and Let Die" from the James Bond film and a fun one from that album is "Say Say Say" which also features Michael Jackson! I really love "Hope of Deliverance" which features lovely guitar playing as well as his excellent vocals.
The B side - Nineteen hundred and eighty five is an AWESOME song too. Linda is very underrated - the critics were very cruel to her. Denny Laine is a genius!
While in Nigeria Paul, and his wife Linda, hung out with Fela Kuti, and Ginger Baker (drummer from Cream) and smoked the strongest weed he had ever tried.
I have a request you'd love. I've given a few before you liked, I'm sure about this one. Hero, by Mariah Carey and Luciano Pavarotti. Thank you as always

Spot on! "Getting Closer" is another classic that you hardly hear about. It used to be a FM staple.
I love his transitions too ! You should hear his song Live & Let Die

Silly Love Songs &
Goodnight Tonight. ❤️❤️❤️
You should listen to his other song called ( Mull of Kintyre )
FYI, Paul McCartney recorded this song in Lagos, Nigeria in 1973.
While in Nigeria Paul, and his wife Linda, hung out with Fela Kuti, and Ginger Baker (drummer from Cream) and smoked the strongest weed he had ever tried.
