- This was the 3rd flight with the new Vector in my Skyhunter, after a couple of flights to get it set up and dialed in. I'm very impressed with it! I can honestly say that's pretty much all the best features of all my other OSDs, rolled into one, plus a lot more... and I haven't even gotten into everything it can do yet... lol Not to mention the price, it's cheaper than my previous favorite (RVOSD). What's not to like?! .

Here's some affiliate links to the video gear I use from Ready Made R/C:
1.3GHz video transmitters (I use 200, 400, 800, and 1500mW on various planes) goo.gl/Mhq6TW
I recommend this receiver to go with them. I use an older Racewood type they used to sell, but these are supposed to be at least as good with the same Comtech tuners in them. Apparently Racewood is no longer in business, so here's what replaced them: goo.gl/xC2RLx
I use this 8dbi Patch Antenna, it has been my go-to antenna for a long time now, for years! lol I've been out more then 10 miles using one of these and the 800mW vtx listed above: goo.gl/hGmcNS
On the transmitter side, the stock dipoles that come with them work pretty good together with that patch, but if you want slightly better performance and less weight/drag, consider these: goo.gl/CPuFGf
You have your own runway in your back yard. Now that cool.
Great job, just got done building my skyhunter and putting a vector in it.
Cool, they make a good combo! Best plane with the best OSD... lol
used to havea full sized vector. never got my throttle working with RTH. its been a few years. i just bought a used micro ETV. i cant wait to get working on it soon
cool!
Cool as hell!
Cool video. I don't know how you getting that video quality with the Japan dvr,I have the same dvr and is not even close. Good luck.
Nice Flight! I've been thinking about getting one, I think you just persuaded me to get a Vector! So much info, looks like a great system!
is a really great one. As long you set it up right you will be fine. And will have no problem. I have been wanting one for so long and my wife got me one the last week.
Great video..... I like your display setup with the Vector OSD... Thanks for sharing
That was awsome bonifidepirate that's the setup I'm drifting towards. Still flying my phantom 1
nice........AGAIN.....every vid u do is great....thanks
Great flight. This is one of the few videos I will watch agian. I have the Vector in a mini sky hunter and absolutely love it!
Just bought an Eagle Tree Vector, can hardly wait! Nice flight man!
I got the rvosd from rangevideo v6, you said you like it better, the Eagle Tree Vector, now this Eagle have flight by wire like the RVOSD? thanks.
Can you tell me what your motor/prop combo is? You pull so little amps when cruising. I have the same plane and I'm running a 3548 900kv with a 12x8 master aircrew glow prop for less amp draw. Wot is 40amps while cruise is about 11.5-13 amps. Thanks for your help
I am tempted by the Eagle Tree Vector. Can it do autonomous way point flying like the APM/Pixhawk? Does it have comparable ground station software? Thanks!
It can do RTH and hold(loiter) is not truely atonomous like the APM/Pixhawk but it does a great job
the ET antenna tracker (electronics) are only 75.00 add a pan/tilt, antenna and 2 servo's and you can get real long range
great flying,nice runway
How do you like it compared to the RVOSD? I think the layout/text is better on the RVOSD.
Personally I think I like the Vector better. You can customize the layout all you want. Download the Vector software from ET's website and poke around in there. There's a TON of things to change to get it to look and behave just the way you want it to.
That is just awesome! Very very cool! I'm nearly done getting all the electronics for my first FPV plane. I'll have to go without an OSD, for now, due the cost of them....all in good time. Great video man! That was a fun ride!!!
May I ask you a question? When using Vector for Skyhunter, which kind of tail do I have to choose? Traditional fixed wing ? or V-tail?
Skyhunter has an elavator and no rudder. So its tail is not "traditional" nor "V-tail". I am afraid that wrong setting causes a crash.
Set it up as conventional, it will work the elevator as a normal tail, there's just no rudder. It flies fine without rudder, in fact I'm not even sure the Vector uses rudder to navigate. Don't set it up as a V-tail, that uses mixing on elevator and rudder channel, and would likely cause problems with the elevator.
Oh, thank you very much. I have just ordered Vector and Skyhunter.
Very Nice! I love my Vector.
Great flying and video. Really enjoyed it. Thanks, liked and subscribed to your channel for more great videos Thanks ✈️😊
Thanks!
That would be awesome for air to combat!
Can you change some settings in flite? Like rth height and some tune settings?
Yes if you enable the option to access menus in flight. Or you can lock it so you can't enter the menus in flight to avoid any accidental changes. Look in the current manual on page 37, "5.4.4 Accessing Menus during Flight" eagletreesystems.com/Manuals/vector.pdf
That is so Awesome man, looks like a lotta Fun (-;
This is amazing
That was great! The Vector seems flawless. I was about to pull the trigger on an RVOSD but now I'm not so sure. Damn!
+TripleThreatRC get the vector, the rvosd is nice, but the vector is better :)
+eastcoast78
Hey Mike, I got the Vector a while ago (it's still in the box) but now I see they've come out with a new V2 GPS unit. Any thoughts on that? Is it a "must have" before I install the Vector in the SkyWalker?
Cheers, Bob
+TripleThreatRC Don't sweat it! I've had no issues with the GPS on my Vectors thus far, they lock fast and accurate. I've sure the new one will show some benefits with position hold on a quad, stuff like that where accuracy is critical. Even so, the original GPS on my quad with a vector holds very well. I would almost guarantee you won't see a huge difference on a fixed wing plane, other than the numbers... ;)
+bonafidepirate
I feel much better now, thanks very much. That's one of the issues with slowly gathering the components for a new plane. By the time you're got everything you need and are ready to start the build, half the stuff you've purchased is obsolete already! Thanks again from a big fan, your channel rocks!
Can I hook this to an ezuhf receiver? If so, can you show how you connect all the wires? Awsome demonstration
ha esa altatud deberia monitorear la air band frencuency. local,,,, for trafic..., nice video.......
Eagle tree vector is the best!! I love it. You whent above the 80% rule with your battery ;)
Looks nice, love that f-16 style AHI ladder. I was a bit concerned that the RTH was going to park the plane in your window, we're you concerned?
Nah, I'd tested RTH a few times on the previous two flights... lol It's set to fly home at 500ft, then when it gets 1500ft out, it starts dropping to 300ft to circle a waypoint just south of my runway. It's works great!
I wonder is these are the "drones" pilot see and report. 5000+ Ft? WOW!
Awesome
I have had the Eagle tree osd pro and I was so tired of it. It was so hard to learn and read the manual, and still I can not set up the return to home. It was very badly made and setup. But this one I have to admit I am very impressed and now that I own a AT. from them I think I will get this too...
what is your video frequency & directional antenna?
It surely isn't 5.8 ghz, LOL :) I'm sure he's using 1.3 ghz for video. As for antennas, the best for range is the VAS 1.3 ghz Crosshair or the Pepperbox.
+Ishfaaq Jhaumeer 1258 for video, linear antennas. I've tried circular antennas and found that linear is far better at this frequency for long range, provided you're not dealing with multipath. I use a FPV-Pro dipole on the transmitter and a 8dbi patch from RMRC on the receiver.
Did water ever condense con your lens?
The pan/tilt system you've got on the camera is awesome. Is that a custom job?
Great video. Talk a little bit about your setup. Video TX/RX frequency (1.2, 5.8) ? Wich type of antennas for Video RX and TX are you using? Radio Control is OpenLRS, EzUHF, DragonLink... ???
That is some private runway!
Great video, man what video frequency, VTX and VRX are you using? Solid signal throughout...
Great pix man, what DVR are you using.
The more different OSD's I use, I like the FVOSD less.
Anxious to see more from you
Way kool man
It's the FPV-Japan DVR, same as all the others that look just like it. (Foxtech, RMRC, Hobbywireless, etc. Most shops sell them now)
Nice telemetry
Eagle Tree Vector for me then
eagle tree should offer a radiation sensor so we can see if background radioactivity is in the atmosphere..
BAD ASS!!!!!!!
What setup (as far as electronics) are in this, and how did you get the camera to move around? I'm thinking of putting one of these setups together. Thanks, and awesome video!
Great video pirate :)
Mine's just coming in, to put on a brand new Skywalker X8 wing. I'm also currently using RVOSD (on a X5 wing).
One of the things that bothers me with RVOSD (and the fact I'm flight the X5 which isn't very stable may contribute to this) is that switching between the various stabilized modes require going through in-flight menus, and also that 'heading hold' mode allows no stick inputs except for throttle.
With the Vector in 2DH mode - does it still let you use the AIL/ELE stick to control the plane (when not centered) e.g. to change altitude or heading?
Your video signal looks rock solid!! What video setup are you using?
I love watching this come from 'miles away' and circling the field. Isn't it possible to have the computer land it, too? (Or have there been mishaps?)
Great cloudrun! What DVR have you used, in your G.S, to capture the footage?
what tx/rx? Been working with multirotors, but this range is awesome
Great video !
What servos/setup are you using for the pan/tilt ?
Niiiiice!!!
nice flight what camera are you using.
Hello, please tell me what Vx and Tx are you using and base station setup
How much time did it take to set up the Eagle Tree , I down loaded the software and look around a lot and found that many items on there menu I did not understand and they did not explain it very good. I do not like how then have the RTH set up on the left stick it should be on a Switch. I am interested but I am not sure I would be able to set it up.
Mate how have you got your flight mode and sub mode switches setup?
One 3 pos switch and one 2 pos switch?
Hey pal I'm one of your subscribers and I have a question that I believe you will know. Will the eagle eyes system give me a pan and tilt capability to a Tbs ground station? I'm running a micro vector. Thanks
I'm not familiar with the TBS Ground Station. The Eagle Eyes is basically a diversity controller with inputs for two video receivers, a video splitter with multiple video outputs (3 or 4, I forget), and antenna tracker. It receives telemetry from the Vector to know where to point to antenna, and drives two servos to point it there.
the trottle is well managed rth mode with the wind?
how mode you use during the flight, 2d hold?, 3dh work great?
I really impressed you RTH experience. Although I tried different setups I could not have a reliable and stable RTH set up.
Could you pls send me your setup file, so I can try your one. Thanks
sup bonafide, quick question, using a eflite apprentice and I'm use to the safe feature, but when I installed the vector its really unstable , does the et vector self corrects if self like the safe rx does and if so what mode would that be and what gains are you using. thanks man
Hi, I installed the eagle Tree Vector on my Eflite Apprentice S 15 E and it works flawlessly... Use the 2D no hold and it will fly level all by itself when you let go of the sticks... I use the Sbus single cable connection to an EZ-UHF 8 channel receiver with diversity on the plane and the EZ-UHF JR Module plugged into a Turnigy 9XR Pro... It works perfectly, you just have to do your research and program/set it all up properly...
+Rodney S Ohh and I use the stock gains on the Eagle Tree, never touched them. I DOD have to dial in about 90% expo on the 9XR Pro to mimic the controls while using SAFE... The control surfaces on the Apprentice are HUGE and doesn't take much to mover her, perhaps that is your problem...
I noticed that when it circled the Home position, it was actually 400 feet to the South in front of your runway....Did you set that in the Vectors GUI?
Yes, I set a waypoint out in the field south of me, and selected the option to use waypoint 1 as home in the software. The idea is that if it ever needs to fly home and circle on it's own until the battery dies (if I were to lose control indefinitely) it will land out there in the open field instead of possibly in the trees/bayou around the house... ;)
bonafidepirate Good idea, I thought so...:) Im going backwards myself, I decided over Winter to play with the APM Mini PRO Autopilot and Minim OSD...Its fun learning about it and its really cheap to buy now....I rather like the Arduplane OSD and how you can put OSD features where you want them...Its surprising what its capable of too....:)....Oh, and the SH did well, 4000 feet in 7 minutes was it..?...LOL.
what camera were you using?
Please, No more Fast Forward, I'm enjoying the flight too much. Thank You.
