When Djokovic got emotional & gutted seeing him with his fam.. when Nadal broke down in tears the entire time… omg this has to be one of the biggest if not the greatest moment in tennis history. Keep in mind Nadal had a pregnant wife who's about to give birth and he still made it just for Federer's day cos he knows it's arguably bigger
Another great moment was the 100th anniversary of the Wimbledon Centre Court a few months earlier, where John McEnroe and Sue Barker welcomed top of the winners of Wimbledon by the number of titles they got. 1st the people wh won it once, then 2 times... till 6, and then, no one with 7 (Sampras didn't come), and they said: "oh yes, we got someone with 8 titles, Rogeeeeer Federeeeeer", and he entered under the biggest mass hysteria ever, applauded by the crowd and Edberg, McEnroe, Rod Laver, Nadal, Djoko, Hingis, Hale, Kerber, Billie Jean King, Venus, Kvitova, Evert, Borg..... if u didn't watch the video, it's a MUST.
Some of those players on the team were born AFTER Roger turned pro. So, they have never known professional tennis without Roger Federer in it. It’s kind of crazy to think about that.

there is no other sport where the three undisputed greatest players of all time peaked and grew together, clashing against each other alone in the arena
Didn’t realize how close Fed and Rafa are. Rafa crying for him. This is beautiful. Tennis will never be the same without the big 3. Fed gone then next to go is Rafa and Joker after.
Courier is the perfect interviewer for this. Never shifts focus to himself when he does his interviews. You almost forgot about him, which is what happens when great interviewers do their job. And what a player he once was, Jim, king of the mountain for a short while, took tennis to a new level with his modern game. I will never forget the RG-final with Agassi, that's when my lifelong love for tennis begun. So many great champions that has come and go since then. And of course, Federer is the most elegant player ever. No one will ever play the game with such a grace as he did. Happy retirement.
game will never be the same without this absolute legend. what a player on and off the court. Will never forget this tennis legend. Seeing the next gen players coming through emotional at his retirement just shows the complete respect they have, they know their sport lost an absolute legend in the game that day. massive respect RF titles and slams aside you were the PEOPLES GOAT!
From my childhood I love to watch Tennis and I understand Tennis because of Roger Federer. All time greatest player of tennis history. Many will come and go but this name will never be forgotten for a lifetime. Miss you Roger ❤❤
The Federer retirement came at the worst time for me. Struggling with my beautiful girlfriend, struggling with myself... And then my idol, my lifetime hero, retires. I cried like i've done it before, for him and maybe for all toghether. It was the perfect occasion to let go the emotions... I ll be forever missing him. Thank you mr. Federer, you still are my source of inspiration, and thank you for everything. Grazie mille ❤
The passion that Federer brings to the game. It’s not just another sport. This is the love a legend, athlete that did above and beyond to achieve one of the greatest to play the game! I don’t watch tennis much but this guy here is a legend. Congrats Roger and enjoy your life!
If there's one moment that can make me tear up like a small child it's Federer's retirement.. Especially when Ellie started singing "Burn" and he started embracing his family.. I freaking lose it every single time.. I was showing this to a friend of mine and I choked up, he was shocked... Yeah that's how much this man had an impact on me. Forever the greatest ❤️❤️❤️ RF👑
I don't know about anybody else, but i like and admire all three of them equally and, when it comes to who is the GOAT,i think that the GOAT of tennis has three heads : Roger,Rafa and Nole...and this comes from a huge Nole fan... :)))
That's a great call! I have always been a Roger fan but I respect all 3 of them and put all of them as the GOATs because there a lot of factors that matter in the head to head matches like the difference in their prime time, the surface and that's why I think these 3 should all be counted as the best ever because I don't see that ever happen again and we should appreciate it as well as we should be happy to watch Rafa and Novak until we can no matter who we are supporting most!
Exactly this. I always found it shortsighted the disdain some stupid fans have for the other 2 legends. People are just dumb by nature unfortunately. I have tried to cherish every moment of these 3 goats. Bc this golden era will never happen again in my lifetime.
This is THE way one of the best and most inspiring athletes in history ends his career. There is no better way to write it. Thank you Roger for all these great years. We all love you!!!
Cried so damn hard watching this, grew up loving tennis and Roger. I took his wins for granted until later in his career. Novak is the GOAT but Federer will foreve be my favorite player
Roger is the best technically gifted. Djokovic is the mental beast. Nadal is the warrior who never gives up. All three are the best in their own way and way above everybody else.
The moment when Nadal was crying with Roger on that bench will forever remain the most iconic moment in sports history. Two biggest rivals on court but even better friends off it.
The greatest tennis player ever to grace our sport, he will never be forgotten and will always be missed especially at Wimbledon. Tennis will never be the same without and after Murray Djokovic and nadal have all retired as well.
Watching Federer's children I just wonder what it's like if your father is a living legend and one of the most loved and revered athletes on the planet. I mean there are obviously many upsides, but it probably also isn't easy to grow up with this kind of an example.
I grew up watching Federer and Nadal. Learned from this guys so much. Rafa's body language shows how much they respect each other. It was a pleasure to see this history written by this two!
They pushed each other to greater heights. Its possible that they couldnt have been this great without the rivalry. Its no doubt they must respect each other greatly.
Djokovic and Nadal in tears at their longtime rival's retirement. They truly respect and care about each other despite how much disrespect their fans show for the other 2 legends. Despite being a Novak fan I will always love the other 2 and in my opinion all three of them are GOATs since they all needed each other to achieve the success that they have. I feel truly blessed to be alive during the best era tennis has ever seen and probably will ever see. Let's all celebrate the Big 3. Love you and miss you Roger and I hope Rafa comes back stronger than ever next year so he and Novak can have a few last battles before they join Roger in retirement.
The emotion is much, can't even know who is. Retiring btw Federer and Nadal, the love is high, the tears is much, He has rule the world. Your forehand drives, the backhand Shots, the dropshots, your smile ,the skills, the emotion of sportsmanship will forever be miss. Love u Roger.
The viva la vida did it for me. I’ve been a sports fan my whole life but I remember the first time I watched a full tennis match was the 2007 Australian Open. It was Fernando Gonzalez vs Tommy Haas. Gonzalez dominated Haas thoroughly and I was thinking to myself, “this guy is something special”. I was a professional poker player who dabbled in sports betting. I remember seeing the odds and this guy named Federer was a 6-1 favorite. I laughed and thought “well he must be pretty good but how is 6-1 possible? How is he going to beat this Gonzalez guy who just made a top 10 player look like a child?”. So I went ahead and put a little bit of money on Gonzalez. Needless to say whatever I lost that day was worth it because for the next 15 years Roger gave me so many memories. In the first couple years my scheduling flexibility allowed me to watch almost all of his matches. After that from about 2009 to 2021 I didn’t miss a single match. Not one. It didn’t matter if it was at 2 AM in Shanghai, 6 AM in Monte Carlo, 9 AM in Rome, noon at Wimbledon, 2 PM in Miami, 5 PM in Indian Wells, 8 PM at the US Open, 10 PM at the Australian Open. I can’t tell you how many birthday parties, how many nights out, how many get togethers with friends, how many events with so many friends I’ve missed to witness Roger play it was all worth it.
I was just crying & crying all the moment. That's the last tennis match I watched till now. After Pete Sampras, I started watching tennis through Rf , those lovely jumping backhands as well as those cursive forehands from the end of the court. No one can deliver those shots like Federer. U will be the GOAT player of tennis always because u not only won the matches but also won the hearts of all the tennis fans across the world.
Every now and then I come here to cry and smile, because we witnessed one of the greatest careers in tennis history unfold. From his prime, to the hard years with the injuries, to the greatest comebacks on the tour, to his farewell. Not the greatest winner, but the best that tennis has ever seen.
I'll always love the sport but it will never be the same for me again. My all time favourite sporting hero. Strange thing is that on the day he announced he would be retiring my Golden Retriever of 13 years passed away on the same day.
