Flew to KOSH on an ALBATROSS!

- I was expecting to fly into EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in a B-25 this year, but instead, I found myself flying in an ALBATROSS! Never did I think this would have happened, nor did I think I would get to experience my first water landing in an Albatross! What a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Thanks to the owner of the Albatross, Mr. Tony Phillippe, for making this dream a reality!

I (and probably the people flying along with you) appreciate that you don't feel the need to talk nonstop to the camera. The subtitles do the job just fine and make this seem so much more authentic. Thanks for sharing!
Wow what a gorgeous airplane. Definitely the Albatross over the B-25.
For sure!!
that front view of the water landing is amazing - thanks for making this!
Thanks for watching!
That thing is gorgeous. What a dream.
The level to which that plane is restored is unbelievable. Fantastic video, must’ve been an amazing experience, thanks so much for sharing
Thank you for watching!!
I was a flight mechanic on the hu16 in the pi and Vietnam 1965_67 made a sea rescue of a downed navy pilot in Vietnam
Awesome Aircraft😏🫦
What a beautiful plane that is. I’ve flown on several Grumman Gooses to Catalina Island and in Canada. Never gotten a flight in an albatross or a mallard though. The window in the nose is awesome! Nothing like the sound of those radial engines at full throttle!
That plane is stellar inside and out.
It really is!
My father was an aviation electrician's mate in the US Navy from 1958 to 1962 and specialized on the Albatross. After all his schooling, he got stationed in Osaka, Japan. He flew from San Diego to Osaka via Pearl Harbor and Midway Island in an Albatross. It took two days. The Albatross can travel far; but, not very fast 🤨.
That's cool!
Getting in the nose for the water landing and take off was a great view! Also like another guy said just the sound of the wind and engines and no talking enhanced the experience. Some You Tube vloggers ruin the experience by always having themselves in the frame and constantly talking. You did a fantastic job!
I'm so impressed by her knowledge and love for historic aircraft.
Super video.
Incredible!
Well. Guess You get lucky !!! What a beutifull Bird! Nice colection on that hangar. You should cover thouse airplaines too. At least a quick pick. They look very well preserved!
they are stunning pieces of history!
Thanks. A very nice video. Nice seaplane.
My dream plane!!! I managed to bum a ride to Paradise Island on a Chalk's Mallard back it 2001 and it was a super cool experience.
great video!
Great video thank you for making it
That was top notch..
Wow you are so lucky! It's sister, the Grumman Mallard, is my favorite plane.
So great when people put in the effort and $$$ to restore vintage aircraft!
Agreed! It is a beautiful machine!
If you arrived on Sunday I think I saw you. I remember an Albatross with a person standing in the open nose hatch. I love to sit on the flight line and watch Sunday arrivals. I'm glad you got your water landing, and what a vantage point! #OSH22 is too far away.
That was us! And yes, I completely agree! Can't wait for KOSH 22!
That's pretty neat
Wow! That looked like a blast, Cayla! Loved the view from the nose for that water landing!
That’s awesome Cayla! Tony’s Albatross is beyond amazing! So cool you got a ride to Oshkosh in it! Great Video! Thanks for making it!
Thanks for watching!! It’s a beautiful airplane!
That was just pure awesomeness!!!!!
Agreed!!
Beautiful plane. Great Video!
You lucky girl, I'd love to have made that flight with you. Such a beautiful machine and that has to be one of the nicest examples around.
Too cool
What an amazing aircraft. thanks for sharing your trip.
Thanks for watching!!
Fun!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice video. One of my favorite planes of all-time.
My goals for the next year; Finish my PPL, Buy a Stinson 108, Fly To Oshkosh.
Keep at it!!
Awesome!!!
41 seconds in, I would take a ride on an Albatross before a B-25 any day!
Stunning airplane!
Cool view from the nose with the water landing and out of the hatch.
You also had some modern convenience with USB port charging in an old aircraft (nice touch).
I saw a conversion like that in a really old private railroad car at the St. Paul Union Depot during train days
(yes I live in the Twin Cities area too)
By the way the B-25 Miss Mitchell flys over my house all the time during take off/landings
I live right in the path of the runway
Hi just subscribed! Usually I go to Oshkosh but I missed this year. Oh yeah beautiful plane!
Thanks so much for subscribing! You have to come next year!
I got to see these in hangar somehow, I still cant believe it
💯
What a cool plane to fly on. The paint scheme is beautiful.
The prettiest Albatross in my opinion!
Super
Color me jealous. Have loved the Alby since seeing "Flight from Ashiya" when I was younger.
It’s my dream to go to this event good video
Awesome!!! I didn’t know that was you in that 😂 watched you guys land, takeoff, taxi.. etc I was right on the flight line lol. Great video!
Oh so cool!!! So many people have said they saw us!
Saw this plane in its military colors. Got to admit the civilian paint job is striking and is obviously not the result of rattle cans from Menards. The Howards are also nice. Aviation Buffs should check out the Anoka County/Blain Airport’s events.
Such an awesome video. Thanks for sharing. You’re really lucky be in these legendary iconic float plane. Oh man, how I wish I got this opportunity 😭
Anyway, this vintage aircraft is now about to be given a second life by Amphibian Aerospace Industries, Pty Ltd (AAI) an Australian company. If Douglas DC-3 becomes Basler BT-67, then the Grumman HU-16 will be called G111T. Variants are Combi Passenger/Cargo, Aeromedevac, Aeromedical and also Search & Rescue. It will be available soon.
Has to be a nice life being one of the Cargill kids...
Not quite sure who the Cargills are… 😅
What was the point of the water landing and take off? Demonstration only?
A great video of a beautiful aircraft!
just for fun!
@@cayla_mcleod - Good reason!
That was cool, thanks! What day did you get in? We flew in on Sunday morning and the GAC was already almost full!
Thank you!! We got in on Sunday afternoon.
If Sierra Nevada owned an Albatross... lol
Another 1st you got to land on what is usually a taxiway at OSH...
actually I have done that before :)
coast Guard workhorse for decades.
I grew up in the west metro near eden prairie. Are you from there?
I am not but that's where the airplane used to live!
So arrogant. Really cringe.
Why does the pilot bang the throttles a few times after touch down>??
