This song is about the Constitution of the 3rd of May, the first constitution in europe and 2nd in the world It was to fix the errors that Poland had been suffering since it became an elective monarchy, it temporarily restored Polish strength in the 1790's while the country was also at war with Russia, but the King decided to negotiate peace with Russia instead believing a peaceful alternative was a possibility he was not expecting Russia to partition the country with Prussia though and abolish the new reforms, backing down to Russia was one of the greatest mistakes in Polands history and caused the 2nd partition of Poland, none the less its achievements and historical importance should be remembered, not the unfortunate mistake made by the king.
