Drone Tour of the New Montego Bay Bypass: St. James, Jamaica

We take a look at this well talked about new development to come to the parish of St. James, Jamaica. We are talking the Montego Bay Bypass! We've been hearing about this new project for some time and we have finally gotten confirmatory footage to show that work has indeed started! We are very excited about this development and we aim to follow the progress and do regular updates for said development.
We made our way from Fairview Shopping centre/Catherine Hall end and headed north towards Tucker, Irwin as we learnt that this route was better than from that of Westgate side. We observed workers there but it appeared they were on lunch break, nonetheless, we put our drone up and got to flying.
From this side, we noticed various segments of land has been cleared, a few outlines of roadways have been made and we even observed that a bridge was made over the Barnett River. Grading work continues as land preparation is vital, also, the need for acknowledging various environmental impacts and the implementation of measures in place to mitigate same.
This general project has been divided into what we call subdivisions:
1). Montego Bay Perimeter - this will have grade separated intersections at Bogue Rd., Fairfield Rd., Riverside Dr., Irwin Rd., Adelphi Rd., Cornwall Courts, Cottage Rd, and Salt Spring Rd.
2). Long Hill Bypass - this will begin at the intersection of the Montego Bay bypass (in the vicinity of Bogue Village & Montego West Village Housing Scheme. This bypass will have a grade separation at Whales Pond Rd., Bogue Hill Dr. and Anchovy main road. There will also be a round-about at Montpelier.
3). Barnett St. Dualization - this will see dualization of 1.06km of the existing 2-lane roadway, getting an additional 2-lane bridge over the Montego River. This will complement the Bypass by moving 27,000 Vehicular and pedestrian in and out of the central business area.
4). West Green Ave. to Fairfield Rd. Dualization - this will see dualization of 0.82km of existing link between Howard Cooke Blvd and the Bogue Rd. at the Fairfield intersection. Existing round-a-bouts will be removed and implementation of signalized intersection, median barriers and sidewalks.

The Montego Bay Bypass is not only one of the most ambitious road projects underway in Jamaica, but it is personally also the most promising. This is going to be a major thoroughfare between the northern part of the island and the southern part; something the western side of the country really needs. That bridge alone crossing the Barnett River and the massive ditch it is in will be a monumental piece of engineering; probably one of the tallest bridges in Jamaica or even in the Caribbean. It's really exciting to see how this development will eventually turn out.

Wow great videos as always this area seems like a very difficult terrain to build up I think they might have few high bridges 🌉 In around some ott ft those rivers with high columns

This should have been titled, "Montego Bay Bypass Construction has commenced."
It will no longer be a toll road, the plan was changed a few years ago. So you were reading the old specifications.
