It occurred to me in a recent conversation I had with some good folks on Facebook... it seems as though they were under the assumption that all panels in the market today are all the same. Wow. It looks like the educational piece in the Overland Expedition community is asleep at the wheel or being fed a lot of misinformation by so-called leading companies that claim there is "a lot of misinformation" out in the community and they aid to set the record straight. During my research, I found a treasure trove of half-truths, exaggerations, and misinformation on the very website that boasted they were "debunking myths." Well, it is 2021... "opposites day" everyday. Just have a look at the video.
Our engineers estimated the insulation difference between Total Composites PU and Globe Trekker PIR composite panels. Estimating this is possible given the R-values published. To have a like to like comparison, they did exclude the energy losses from doors and windows, as this will vary on your build - so this was considered on a sealed 18 foot box. Based on the same surface areas and published R-Value, they could calculate the Btu/hr, and subsequently even the W required to maintain inside temperature. We were pleased but not surprised that the increased foam density and panel thicknesses provided a 29% improvement in thermal efficiency. This efficiency will translate to increased comfort and less energy/fuel to maintain inside box temperatures compared to ambient temperature outside.
It looks to me as if this competitive company is doing their best to B.S. the community, or perhaps they really are that low functioning... if there were ever such problems in my work, I would appreciate someone spending this much time to help me fix my own mistakes. Feedback, is a gift.
I just can't sit by and watch people that lie, cheat, or steal, prosper. It is beyond a little annoying that self-proclaimed experts can be such a "main valve" that is shooting "fertilizer" into the community that I love. Facts and truth are still true. And telling a half lie to sway others to your agenda is still just one big ugly lie. If they can't tell the whole story, they should expect to be called out for it.
Lastly... even though lauan and plywood are technically composites by definition, no one I know thinks of any organic products to be a composite! Most people believe organics are not composites. And yet, Total Composites uses plywood in their "total composite" panels? *sigh.
Refer to the terms and conditions document located on the company website for any safety information in regards to operating vehicles with habitats attached, the use of the stairs/ladder, and other components that if used improperly or assemble incorrectly, could use sever injury of death. Habitats are required to have a carbon monoxide and a smoke/fire detector that are supplied and installed at the owners expense. Preventative maintenance of the systems purchased from Globe Trekker are the sole responsibility of the owner of the habitat. (See website URL below.)

Haters gonna hate. I’m stoked with my Globe Trekker habit! Super stoked with the way they helped me through my design AND the customer service afterwards for all my questions (mostly on what else I can use the 80/20 for). Can’t wait to put another 15,000 miles on/off road on my rig with the habitat on it.

We love to see you using the truck for their intended purpose, and thank you for the pics you send of remote places.

Looking forward to see your trucks off-roading. Looks like you guys are really trying to get total composites, gxv adventurekits and box Manufaktur upset, however this guys have trucks out there, in my opinion experience matters more than any nice sales pitch.

We are not trying to get anyone upset... just doing our part to educate the Expedition community by setting the record straight from the misinformation floating around. I really don't think they are upset as much as they are scared. Why else would they post such narrative driven information obviously geared against the only company with aluminum corner extrusions? Naturally a company in business for 30 years is going to have more trucks on the road than one that just started up in March. However, if you are building out your expedition truck today and comparing apples to apples... experience makes little difference when it comes to head to head product comparisons. Otherwise, we would all still have IBM computers.

I found Globe Trekker after watching a ton of TC build videos and not really liking any of them. Finally came across a TC video where they were bashing GT and aluminum in general. Once I realized there was someone building out of aluminum, that pretty much squashed all my concerns for my current build. Looking forward to chatting them up at the Expo in May.

I noticed the changes in the video. I guess you were not totally satisfied with the last cut. That's okay. Good on you guys for taking the high road.

You are right, I was not satisfied with it. I think the new version is a better direction. Good to see you on here, Trent.

What is the thickness of the FRP? ALSO this video content is the same as the last video you posted a week ago.

I was not satisfied with the older video and made some improvements. Because we use this channel to post video to our webpage, as we do updates, you may see videos with similar content. Are you asking about the total thickness of our laminates and sub-laminates? It is a 1/2" of the 2.5" thick panel.

@@RVGlobeTrekker no, just the frp layer. The frp is the strong outside shell that stops scratches, gouges, etc from effecting the azdel layer, it can be repaired with basic fiberglass skills in the field. I'm wanting to know the thickness of just the frp.

@@atubeviewer4942 although we have disclosed a lot about our engineered panels, I think the video we are releasing today will give you added insight into the durability of our product, and answers your question without giving our competition any more of our manufacturing and engineering secrets. Look for a video to release tonight or tomorrow morning.
