Visiting Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s largest city - The first World Heritage City in the USA 🇺🇸

- Hello, and Welcome.
While still unable to travel we are continuing to look back at earlier trips. Next up is a road trip through Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. Our flight to Quebec City Airport was via Philadelphia. We had a six hour layover so there was time to catch the train into the city and taking a walk through Downtown. We headed first to the historic district where the Second Continental Congress saw the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Next we wandered to the Delaware river passing Penn`s Landing and also the Irish Memorial. Finally we return through streets of Federal era terraces to the area by city hall. Time then to hop aboard local transit to the airport and the final leg of our journey to Quebec. We are hoping that we will be travelling once more soon as things are now looking more positive.

Philadelphia has a wonderful landscape and architecture. It's been a long time since I last visited Philadelphia, but I remember it being a very beautiful city.

We have visited a few times and really enjoy exploring here. We had a six hour gap between flights so took the opportunity to have a few hours wandering in the city centre. Glad to know you too enjoyed the place. Again an interesting place to see.

It was a quick stopover. Six hour wait until our onward flight so plenty of time to grab the train downtown and take a walk. We did not make time for food but I have enjoyed a Cheesecake here on a previous visit. I am a great fan. Have a great week too.

With a six hour layover we could not just sit in the airport. Luckily the quick rail connection enable us to spend a couple of hours in town. We had been a couple of times before to Philadelphia so not a problem finding our way to the historic district. Several of the colonial cities have what we would recognise as Georgian era buildings at their hearts Boston especially. Thanks for watching. Best wishes to you both as always. Robert & Ivor

Today we look to have a lovely day in prospect with a little summer having come our way. Still not getting much further than the garden but today we will really enjoy it. Just a quick visit on this trip which now seems so long ago. We just had six hours between flights. Long enough to go up to town for a walk through the historic district. We had visited twice before but as you say there is much to see and we have lots left to find. Thanks for watching.

As I have watched further, I saw that a lot of people seems so gentle as the place gave them a place to breath whenever they want, a cozy place that is suit to everyone's likings. The architectures were so great, they may be seems familiar to each other but one thing I know that even the two architecture can have a difference! The tall building were so nice, they don't have any replication of any modern building that was built in contemporary world! All is good and great, I am looking forward to getting there and film the way you did! Have a good day!

Hi Ivor, I’m glad you were able to visit this part of Philadelphia. Independence Hall is a huge part of American History. It’s probably a little over an hour away from me. I rarely ever go into Philadelphia. There are some very rough parts. You showed it off well. 👍30
We have visited a few times and enjoy wandering the historic districts. With a six hour layover we really did not fancy sitting in the airport all that time. We much rather would be out exploring. We have passed through some less inviting areas previously but usually as a tourist we are often oblivious to the problems locals face. We know we are unaware of half that goes on in our own area and of the very different lives some lead. We have been pretty busy the last few weeks but hope to catch up with what you have been doing shortly. Best wishes from Nottingham.

I enjoyed this so much. Philadelphia is the closest city to where I live so I saw lots of familar sights in this one!
We only had a few hours on this occasion as our onward flight was later that afternoon. We had stayed in Philadelphia a couple of times before though so we had a good idea where we wanted to wander. The train from the airport made it easy to head for a quick leg stretch through the city centre. Thanks for taking a look. Have a great week.

Merci beaucoup mon ami. We had 6 hours between flights and we really did not want to just sit in the airport. An easy train connection to the city centre meant we could enjoy a walk in this historic place.
It looks like you had a great road trip back then with lots of memories and you captured many wonderful sights and events. Philadelphia certainly looks like a very interesting city to explore.

You hear a lot of bad things about 'Philly' these days but as you have shown here, there's plenty of charm and you can the British influence in the architecture
We have visited a few times and have seen some less desirable areas as we have crossed the city but downtown and the historic districts are well worth exploring. Many buildings in the historic areas do have a Georgian feel as do many in the old colonial areas of the east coast cities. We have had a busy couple of weeks but hope to catch up again shortly.
