Thanks Mickey. I always want to go over and above for my customers and that's just one way that I can help them feel like their order is packaged securely and will get to them safely.
Ken, excellent video and very informative. I do like how serious you take your listing and the information you provide. To me it adds a professionalism to the listing and you business. I have a subject there I am curious about, which is cabinet cards. How to price one, and try to narrow a date. Wonderful videos you have and I will watch the rest of the videos in your library soon. Thanks
Hi, Thanks for watching and for your kind words. I do take this postcard business very seriously while at the same time have fun. As far as cabinet cards go, I would just check the sold comps to see what others have sold for and gauge it against that. Some of them have dates hand written on them and some you just have to guesstimate and I would just say "Early 1900's". I did try selling them a little while back on a 2nd eBay account. I though that since most of the ones I had, were professional portraits photographed in studios around the 1900's (with the studio names on the backs or the bottom of the cards) there would be great interest and value. Unfortunately, I did not make very many sales. The ones people did seem interested in were of full length, young ladies with long hair, in their 20's. The older ladies portraits did not sell and even portraits of young children were not in much demand either. Some of my men portraits did sell but only the ones that looked like they had money and means. So, after all that I decided to stick with just postcards.
The "scan" lines you mention are from your scanner's dirty rollers. Occasionally you have to open up the top of the scanner and clean (wipe) the rollers with some clear isopropyl alcohol. That usually cleans them up and your lines should disappear.
How do you combat people copying your postcard with a screenshot, and therefore not buying it? I notice some people put a pen or some sort of other watermark on their photo.
When you load up your photos to eBay, like most websites, they compress the image way down. If anyone ever tried to print them, the print quality would be very lacking. Being a Pro Photographer for the last 20+ years helps. (LOL)
Hi Richard. To be honest, I don't. The reason is, I usually don't sell postcards over $50 because I've seen really valuable postcards that sell for hundreds, even thousands of dollars, but I have heard nothing but negative things about how buyers who win auctions like that, never pay. Or, they do pay and then when they receive the cards, the file a INAD (item not as described) with ebay, ebay refunds their money in full and then they mail back a cheap worhtless, .50 cent postcard and they keep the valuable one. I feel doing auctions on valuable cards just makes you a target for scammers. So, I only do BIN and never sell cards over $50. :)
@@EpicTreasurePostcards cheers ken... your a star my friend... I guess the route I would take on finding a Gem is through private Auction centre then and not Ebay. Hey Ken... your videos are ever so valuable.... without going into detail.... I've had a horrendous life... only my mother left... she has collected postcards since childhood... she has not many years left with us... but I want to take this interest on as a business here in Newcastle upon Tyne uk. I have watched and loved every video you have done ken and have learned so much from them. You are the best my friend.... I wish you every bit of luck and happiness my friend. 😃👍
@@richardturnbull6333 Thanks Richard. I wish you all the Best in Success and I hope your mom is able to fully enjoy what time she has left with you and your family. Blessings to you my friend. :)
WOW! So thorough babe! Love how you've nailed down your system and you know exactly the process and follow it consistently when you list!
Thanks Kim.
Ken, you are the man!

Great stuff. Photo of how you ship cards is brilliant.

Does this scanner leave lines on your postcards? I just did this for the first time with this scanner and it left lines
