I’m a retired cop 32 years in nj and love this interaction. I’m also a former 911 dispatcher so know both sides. Crazy how ppl just itch to report a “gun” to 911 but just to be fair, some ppl will def confuse a holstered tazer for a real firearm. That said, I policed with a very unique style and in 32 years… with 100s of 100s on interactions, only caught TWO citizen complaints. Anyway… back to work…. Aaaaaaand action ! Lmao
Yea my uncle was a LEO for 20 years and is now a judge, but we have family who are in dispatch. Its crazy how obtuse the call vs onsite report is. My uncle was shocked at the cases coming through that was initially by a call and police instigated to a full on felony. In family gatherings he always told us to record any police interactions and keep your cool at all times. They will use every trick in the book to trigger you into an arrest.
In Alaska we are concerned if someone doesn't have a gun. Lol. If you are a man in Alaska you probably have a gun on your hip. Most women keep ours in our purse.

You would not believe how much info I got in polite conversations with people when I was an officer. Just walking the neighborhood interacting with kids and families was the best part of the job.

When I was younger a theif was breaking into my mom's car she saw from the balcony of the apartment when she called the cops the dispatcher straight told her to say the guy had a gun to get the cops there faster this "they have a gun" thing was taught by the police to the people to get faster response times and more force

Especially.....none are wearing a "blue-line" flag patch.
