- my end of the year manga collection for 2021! i started collecting manga as a brand new reader this september, and so far have collected 74 total volumes! i figured it would be a fun tradition to look back at the year of some of my favorite reads so far, what i'm looking forward to reading in 2022!
i also am finally decorating my room and giving it some style with some manga panels from my dress up darling, toilet bound hanako-kun, and mieruko-chan!
also wanted to give a huge thank you to anyone who checked out my channel this year, it means an incredible amount that we are building an amazing community together, and i look forward to an amazing year! i hope you all have a great new year, see you in 2022!

That's quite a collection already, watching your videos over the months, I didn't realize you had gotten that many volumes by now. I have at most like 15 volumes lol. I mostly read online then if I like a series enough, I'll get it physically. Also, at my new university, I have three hours to kill every Tuesday and Thursday between classes and there's a Barnes and Noble 10 minutes up the road from there. If I ain't busy in those 3 hours with school work, I'm gonna be able to shop much more often. Save my wallet.
Also glad to hear that My Dress Up Darling is still among your favorites, at this point, I think it's fair to say it's my favorite manga. Speaking of favorites, I still haven't gotten my hands on any more Bloom into You yet (I went to Barnes and Noble, they didn't have any of it and STILL out of stock on Rightstuf lol). The more I read manga, the more I'm starting to prefer it over anime. I've been an anime only person for 6 years but I just don't have the time to watch 20 minute episodes, get 3-5 episodes into a show and go, I'll drop this. Reading the manga is so much faster, only downside is it's more expensive, it's why I usually read the first 5-10 chapters of a series online before picking up the physical volumes (though, I do sometimes negate that rule and will read a synopsis and go "Sounds interesting enough", and add it to my Rightstuf cart to get that $75 free shipping, exactly what happened with Otherside Picnic lol).
And two small questions, have you read Love in Focus yet? I can't remember if you mentioned it in past videos. I was really debating on getting the complete collection. Also, what place has been your favorite to shop at so far? For me, Barnes and Noble is my favorite, I just love being there in person. But I'm really reserved with my spending in there as they sell everything at retail price and that racks up fast compared to Rightstuf. I really should just get the B&N membership as I mentioned, gonna be there often and I'm a history nerd, so manga definitely wouldn't be the only thing I get there.
Haha yeah I kinda got out of hand quick with my collection 😂 But that’s a blessing and a curse that you’re so close to that Barnes, it’s fun to just go and hang out there sometimes and have a look around, I find it very relaxing.
That also makes me want to catch up on my dress up darling, since it’s your favorite! And ahh sorry, hopefully things get restocked soon so you can complete it! I think it’s a really good idea to read online first to see if you like them as well. I definitely find myself watching so much less anime and reading more manga as well recently.
I haven’t read love in focus yet, but I’ll read it soon and let you know how it is! Also, I agree Barnes and noble is probably my favorite to shop because I like just browsing and seeing the manga in person. I also really like newbury comics but they’re only in the northeast, so that can be tough. Rightstuf is great for the price, but in person is just a better overall experience imo. The membership is totally worth it especially since you’ll be there more often, and keep an eye out, they’ve been running more sales recently!

I was excited to see you decorating your room 'cause I was thinking of redecorating my room, and you gave me that push! I would recommend starting a spreadsheet for the next year since a collection can grow faster than your brain can remember!

Interesting collection so far! Mostly different from what I'd read, but there are still some titles like Blue Period, No.5, Sweat & Sopa, and Boys Run Run the Riot that I'm also interested in. Curious to see how your collection grows/changes over time~

I loved this, your collection is coming along so well!! I wanted to do a 2021 manga collection summary haha but my shelves are a bit of a mess at the moment cause I need risers. I loved how you went through the volumes and talked about some of them like mini reviews :D I recently picked up Quintessential Quintuplets finally! I hope you enjoy Sweat and Soap, it's super good. The room makeover with the manga panels was so cool!

Great video, I loved seeing your collection! And that manga wall is so cool! What a great idea ^^ I also recently got back into collecting manga after not doing so for like 10 or so years lol and have collected like 70+ volumes in a short time span… it’s so easy to just want everything! I think something that has helped me so far is making a manga spreadsheet with one sheet showing what I’m collecting and the other what I want to collect, using colors to remind myself which ones I’m most interested in.
You have so many great series! Really interested to hear more of your thoughts on Beauty and the Feast in particular - I’ve had my eye on that one for a while, but haven’t made the decision of whether to pick it up yet (I tend to focus on collecting as much of a series as I can before moving onto the next one :) Love that My Dress Up Darling and Zom 100 have made the top of your list, too ^^ I’d say my favorite from what I’ve picked up on 2021 are Snow White with the Red Hair, Skip and Loafer, and The Witch and the Beast, though a special shout out goes out to Toilet bound for its spectacular art!

Your collection and wall look amazing!!! I finally got my hands on Spy x Family volumes 2-6 and No Guns Life volume 1 (I reccomend if you're interested in sci-fi/light comedy). Now my goal is to collect the rest of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (need all of part 4 and 5).

Perhaps you’ve mentioned this before, but what made you start collecting manga? Btw your collection looks great so far!
i kind've mentioned it in my first haul, but never expanded too much. But, I started for a few reasons. I wanted to get back to reading more in general, so I felt like reading manga was a good start since I love anime, and I feel like the manga will do the stories more justice. I also am trying to learn japanese, so eventually I want to transition to japanese manga and be able to have access to more stories! and I also wanted to just slow down in general and have a relaxing hobby to look forward to every day! also, thanks so much!

imo id recommend focusing on a couple series at a time instead of having a lot of volume 1s and 2s

Thts crazy i just got my package from rightstuf today tht i ordered a while bck and i finally was able to complete my series of happiness manga 1-10 yay 🤗 im up to 25 manga now, and cant wait for more nxt up is chainsaw man ........if it ever comes back in stock 🤣

Well I got three volumes of a man and his cat (2, 4, & 6) I found volume one on bookwalker so I picked up where I left off reading in the first volume of the English version (fifteen chapters per volume. I also got the limited edition version of Given volume seven so I read both volumes six and seven already cannot wait for the next volume which I feel should wrap the series up a bit more than volume seven did. I’m actually reading chainsaw man on bookwalker right the first two volumes were free in Japanese so I decided to get them along with Kaiju no 8 and Hell’s Paradise volume 1. I have other series that I want to try as well but I will hold off getting them for now. Great video too I might take a new picture of my collection soon but I have to organize some of it first before I do that. A lot of my collection are volumes that I picked up randomly from anime conventions so I have series that are missing several volumes or no volume one so I have not read them yet. A lot of those series are older ones that might actually be out of print in Japanese.
how is a man and his cat? I was interested in that series! Also, congrats you were able to get that given volume!! A lot of great stories you’re reading 😄 you should definitely take a pic of your collection, and that’s still awesome that you have so many memories tied to them!
@@themangoose it is good I need to finish the first volume. I plan on getting my niece the second volume soon though she wants to learn to read Japanese now.

@@themangoose she has been reading volume one by herself since I bought it back in October. She is really enjoying the series. My nephew likes it as well. They both have interest in learning Japanese though. I’m planning on helping them learn Japanese since I have been studying Japanese for over eleven years now (going on twelve years in August 2022 since I took my first class in August 2000 when I was in 9th grade). I bought them both notebooks to practice kanji in for Christmas. I have been slowly teaching them hiragana as well.
