Superb job restoring a classic boat . Has given me inspiration to restore my Caribbean crest cutter here in NZ . Not seen any others over this side of the ditch. Some great refurb ideas there , thanks for sharing.
@@jason35177 it looks almost identical . The front has a fibreglass hatch instead of Perspex by the look . I’ve added a video to my channel , should do a better vid sometime. Thanks for the link.
I'm just starting to watch this. I bought a Pride Albatross earlier this year. I re-did the gel coat, added new gauges as the originals were water damaged. Currently getting the engine overhauled. Great to see what you're doing with this rig.
Cheers mate 😊 Every resto project i learn a little more. When i watch howard astill, or other USA restorers I envy their talent. So much can be learnt off the internet these days.
My Son has the same boat. The hull is blue, but seems to have a clear coat all over the hull and deck. I have started sanding and buffing the clear coat, but not sure if I should go deeper through the clear into the gel coat to get the deeper scratches out. I am also wondering how you matched the hull colour over your repairs. Did you apply gel coat all over, or did you paint it? I also see you did something to the deck - was that a coating over the original fibre glass finish? Your thoughts about restoring the hull and deck appreciated. Cheers!
Hey mate welcome to my channel! I didn't know what my colour was on the hull. So i took a sample of the old transom to supercheap auto. We looked over the colours and found a VW colour which close. So the base colour is the red acrylic, followed by 2pac clear. The deck is mazda snowflake mica pearl white with 2pac clear over the top.
If you don't want to sand out the scratches, you could fill them in with bodyfiller. I like using fibreglass resin and mix it with talc powder. Its very strong. Sand the surrounding area, lightly prime, apply colour matched paint, clear over it. If your serious about getting the deck really nice. Id give it a good sand, buy polyester primer (expensive) You can also use this primer to rub into all those cracks. Poly primet stacks well and is very strong. Then you can paint whatever colour you like.
Heres the link 😊 Hollow out if you need any pointers. I installed china made hydraulic steering too. Absolute dream to steer 👌 www.ebay.com.au/itm/165204592330?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=DSGTQ_j2ROO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=2k-fGwUJT_2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Top stuff! Its like the twin to the crestcutter 😁 I took her out yesterday for the first time in 4 months, went like a dream.
Mate your workmanship is awesome
What a journey it looks awesome.
Built strong. 👍🏼
Lovely job there mate !
Wow this car has come along way well done it looks so good! Smick 🎉😊
Bloody hell Jase you're not afraid of some work that's for sure!
G'day Jase, that doesn't look like a homemade trailer to me it looks like a Brooker tilt 👍.
A fella came out to buy the trailer off me. He said its the original trailer that caribbean/pride boats come with. So yeah its probably a brooker 👍
I recognised it because I've got one 👍
Good job Jason
Nice work mate love it !!!! How much did the boat cost to buy ? Ive just picked up a old one my self
I paid $4500. Cracker of a boat. I wish i put more effort into the video. Its one of my most highest viewed uploads.
I have a Savage Tasman from the 80's I think, although you say your trailer is home made, I believe we have the exact same tilt trailers.
The fella who bought the trailer off me said it was its original. Savage tasman is a good boat 👌
Is there anything you cant do mate?
Thats unbelievable
Looks like a brand new boat
Wish i had your skill set
Well done

Orange boat, orange Coupe.
They belong together.
Love to take a pic of xb towing the boat. I have a towbar handy but the rear valance needs chopping 😬 Not keen on that lol
You might benefit from googling how far into the water your outboard should be submerged...looks like yours is extremely low for maximum performance.
I have used the mercury guude, its good 👍

Everyone work shop I spoke to didn't want to look at it. Not without a VIN. It was pretty sad anyway.
