Patrice O'Neal's First Appearance on O&A's XM Show

- This was Patrice O’Neal’s first appearance on Opie & Anthony after they started the new show on XM, with Opie, Anthony, Patrice O’Neal, Rich Vos and Tyson Walter in studio. This appearance was a topic of discussion in future appearances and also in a few future arguments as many felt Opie made Patrice unnecessarily wait outside as a “power move” because Patrice appeared on The Howard Stern Show during O&A’s hiatus from radio after they were fired.
I included 4 clips from the same show in this video (the first 3 are very brief) to add context to Patrice’s appearance and his frustration as he waited outside.
The first clip is from early in the show where O&A talk about Patrice and what they’re expecting from his appearance. In the second clip, they acknowledge Patrice’s arrival as they are in the middle of an interview with Ezra Dyer of Improper Bostonian, who called in to interview O&A about their history of pranks. To be fair, this segment lasted much longer than expected, but after the interview was over and while they were in the spirit of reminiscing about old times, Opie randomly decided to play audio of an old O&A prank. At this point, it would have made sense for Patrice to join them in studio. Instead, they take a break, come back and start another interview without Patrice. In the third clip, O&A acknowledge Patrice’s frustration outside the studio as they’re in the middle of interviewing Tyson Walter. Opie makes a point of asking Tyson whether or not he was searched by Master Po and questions why Patrice would have to endure such a rigorous search process. Tyson says he wasn’t even searched. In the fourth clip, Patrice is finally let into the studio after another break and he immediately calls out Opie for being upset with him because Patrice appeared on Howard Stern, and that that's the real reason Patrice was forced to wait outside for that long. Instead of dealing with Master Po's unorthodox search process and interns being sent his way to snap their fingers at him, he could've went home. In typical Patrice fashion, Patrice tells Opie, “I’m not goofy, and I’m not needy either.”
Patrice goes on to have a great first appearance, quickly becoming a fan favorite, in what would become a legendary run for both the O&A show and Patrice O'Neal.
Patrice was ALWAYS funny! You the man for keeping his voice alive!
