I have an Arai which I use for enduro with goggles, tried it on the GS but didn't really work! So that's for taking the time to put this up, really helpful as I like the fit of Arai. Gonna order one and give it go 👍
+stanley gardiner I guess it's all about fit but for me the X4 is by far the best helmet I've used of any style and on any bike - fit, finish, ventilation and visibility are all top notch....pricey but worth it in my view....
Tell me about your RST gear. I'm loosing sleep on what to buy for a four season jacket Pants I'm going to buy the XD4 helmet for sure. Ive been looking at the Revit Defender Pro 2016 jacket love it just that I wouldnt be able to try one on before I bought it. I live in Minneapolis Minnesota USA so we really only get three months of what I call San diego weather
The lens mounted vents have nothing to do with your glasses. If you open the visor you’ll notice they feed air into channels for ventilating the top and back of your head. You also omitted to mention the chin bad has an extension that allows for reduction of airflow up through the chin gap for colder weather. Lastly there was no mention of the visor distorting the field of view. This is a common complaint with many users and seems to largely depend on where the helmet sits on your head and so whether your eyes are closer to the top of the visor or further down. The distortion is most pronounced when looking down.
Cheerio Mr. Flyer! Love your work. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to produce a review of the RST gear you wear. It looks good but I would be much more comfortable purchasing (or not) after watching one of your reviews. Best regards!

I do have a quick question does your visor have a gap around the bottom of the visor just above the chin bump because mine does and If I pour a tiny bit of water it goes right into the helmet... I'm pretty sure on the motorway I'm going to leak very badly.. wondering if mine is defective..

I bought one of these when I bought my Husky Nuda 900R. I sold the helmet with my GS800. Big mistake as I also used it when I had the BM S1000RR. What I did when riding this was to just remove the peak. It looked very stealthy in matt black. I found in our very hot Aussie summer the ventilation was fantastic. After seeing you recently wearing yours on a couple of your bikes I am seriously contemplating buying another one for the S1000R.🤔 Nice review again.👍🏼

+Ivan Brooks I don't tend to no, I don't think the styling works - probably be OK with the peak removed though....and I agree, these are brilliant helmets, this is by far my favourite...
Two issues with the Tour X is the faff to change the visor and any speed above 50mph makes the peak vibrate quite bad which gives you a headache after about and hour. That's on a f800gs and xt1200z so but other than that the helmet is great.

I have always been told that you should go a size smaller than measured as the helmet will wear in through time, what are your thoughts on this!? Thanks!

+cossiep I don't have any issue with the peak at high speed, although I'm not running with a stock screen on my GS and that could be making the difference....
Hi MF. Like the video on this helmet, I am looking at one, I am concerned about it catching the wind and shaking my head off. I have a touring screen on my triumph 800. I get good wind protection now, did you find it good / acceptable with buffeting. Thanks
Had four Arai helmets in the last 10 years. I absolutely HATED them all! My last RX7 and Tour X4 both had the plastic bits braking off all the time (air intec) and had to be replaced with new. Both are super heavy and uncomfortable for long ride. No more Arai for me!
can i use the helmet also without the shield on the helmet...i like the x-tour but not the shield...how is the dark visor on clowdy days ore at night time???
+Chris K yes you can remove the peak and use the helmet that way - dark visor I believe is illegal at night (at least in the UK) - either way you don't want to use one at night....
Chris K And strictly speaking during the day as well, something to do with the light transmission ratio ( I think it cannot be less than 25% or thereabouts ), whose counting anyway! Both the peak and visor can be removed for use with googles, although the side plates have to be removed with two plastic screws on each side which is a bit of a hassle when replacing the visor or peak. One other thing is the peak can be adjusted up and down slightly by just push/ pulling ( it doesn't move when riding) though.
The biggest mistake ever was buying a Tour X4 . Pros : Solid construction , Super comfortable and great ventilation CONS: It is way too heavy and that peak at speed is enough to drive anyone to shit their pants , it vibrates so bad that your teeth gets worn down , it's noisy and did I mention that it is heavy ...
hi there i know its notting to do with your helmet review but can you please tell me what camera do you use and what frame rate do you shoot in?? i just bought a go pro hero 3+ and its very jumpy on my playback on a macbook pro
I use the (cheaper :0) ) GoPro Hero 2's - shoot in 1080p and render in the same...I suspect might be a post production software issue rather than the camera hardware causing yourproblem???
Just picked up the Cover model X-4 from Revzilla here in the States. Silver camo with Florescent yellow stripes. My first Arai after many helmets. I’m looking forward to giving it a go. Nor-Cal checking in Flyer, been a bit since I said hi.
I did have a look at this helmet a wee while back but thought it would be too vented for up here in Scotland so stuck with my Shoei (didn't realise the chin-bar side vents could be closed from the inside) Ah well, you live n ya learn...🙄
Oh! And the shape of them. The Arai I had about 20 odd years ago used to press against my forehead something chronic and would leave me with a headache after a day of riding. Not good when the first thing you should be looking for, after getting the tent up, is a beer but instead are going round all your girl friends asking if they have any aspirin! lol
Thank you for the review. Personally I would be concerned about the "peak" acting as a lever against my neck in the event of a spill.. Also it looks better without it. Enjoy your vids. peace
Hey Paul, thanks for commenting. The peak is actually held on by nylon screws which I understand are designed to snap off in the event of "an off" - but I take your point. Personally I like the look of the peak and having it as a sun guard this time of year is a real boon....matter of taste I guess. Glad you've enjoyed the vids so far - stay tuned! - TMF

You say it is an expensive bit of kit. That is unrealistic and a gloss over of the price which you fail to give ANY indication of. Why do a review of a helmet without mentioning what is costs? The price is ridiculous.
+Thomas Elliott Err, I'm only a hobbyist at this and I forgot? Does that seem plausible?? A google search will quickly get your answer...thanks for watching - TMF
Thomas Elliott The price IS ridiculous, I agree. BUT having had one of these, then gone to an AGV and become half deaf, then a piece-of-shit Spada Intrepid that gives you a splitting headache after a couple hours... I'm going to pay that 'ridiculous' price again. As the saying goes, 'you get what you pay for'...
Serious why is this an expensive helmet... it is normal priced for a premium helmet... ok a plastic bucket is cheaper but in an accident i rather use the Premium helmet to protect the head... protection is important...
Finally someone did the actual review outside riding, rather than inside the room. Great Job.

Thank you!
Hi TMF . Will this one fit in a normal size Top Box where a normal style helmet fits?
Certainly fits in mine!
Hi, Do you use XS helmet size? If You do what head size do you have? Thanks for answer.
+Daniel Gola No I use a "L"
Hi MF. Like the video on this helmet, I am looking at one, I am concerned about it catching the wind and shaking my head off. I have a touring screen on my triumph 800. I get good wind protection now, did you find it good / acceptable with buffeting. Thanks
+johnny woo Absolutely, no major buffeting at all, better than I expected....
Had four Arai helmets in the last 10 years. I absolutely HATED them all! My last RX7 and Tour X4 both had the plastic bits braking off all the time (air intec) and had to be replaced with new. Both are super heavy and uncomfortable for long ride.
No more Arai for me!
Fair enough....
can i use the helmet also without the shield on the helmet...i like the x-tour but not the shield...how is the dark visor on clowdy days ore at night time???
As always a cracking video, Im off to helmet city to buy one tomorrow, cheers again :)
Thanks Shane....
what do you think about dark visor? usable or not really?
Yes - I use a dark visor on mine pretty much all year around - I love it.....
but do you see anything at dark, rain or at night???
okay. found your review!
cool.
i m thinking of buying the new schuberth E1 adventure helmet which is the same as the touratech
+Thomas Geser Is that a flip up job?
not quite sure what you mean by flip up job 😉
but it is a folding helmet with a build in lens hood...
The biggest mistake ever was buying a Tour X4 .
Pros : Solid construction , Super comfortable and great ventilation
CONS: It is way too heavy and that peak at speed is enough to drive anyone to shit their pants , it vibrates so bad that your teeth gets worn down , it's noisy and did I mention that it is heavy ...
Couldn't disagree more - I have three now!
hi there i know its notting to do with your helmet review but can you please tell me what camera do you use and what frame rate do you shoot in?? i just bought a go pro hero 3+ and its very jumpy on my playback on a macbook pro
I use the (cheaper :0) ) GoPro Hero 2's - shoot in 1080p and render in the same...I suspect might be a post production software issue rather than the camera hardware causing yourproblem???
Thanks for your speedy reply so I think its my Mac that's causing the problem will try and sort it
Sir, what difference between X4 with Cross 3 ?
I don't know...
Just picked up the Cover model X-4 from Revzilla here in the States. Silver camo with Florescent yellow stripes. My first Arai after many helmets. I’m looking forward to giving it a go.
Nor-Cal checking in Flyer, been a bit since I said hi.
Great to hear from you again!
always watch your reviews, you seem to cover all the bases to a "T".....ride safe.
+Brian Morrison Thank you Brian, I'm glad you like my stuff.......that reminds me, time for a brew....
I did have a look at this helmet a wee while back but thought it would be too vented for up here in Scotland so stuck with my Shoei (didn't realise the chin-bar side vents could be closed from the inside)
Ah well, you live n ya learn...🙄
This Arai is by far the best helmet I've ever owned...
Oh! And the shape of them. The Arai I had about 20 odd years ago used to press against my forehead something chronic and would leave me with a headache after a day of riding. Not good when the first thing you should be looking for, after getting the tent up, is a beer but instead are going round all your girl friends asking if they have any aspirin! lol
Oh dear....
Is this helmet a dual density one like 6D and soumy
No idea I'm afraid....
- TMF
Oops ignore my last question, should've watched the video right to the end lol
+cossiep oops, ignore my last comment - should have read them all before answering!! ;0)
What make is the coat and trousers?
RST - check out my review here >> ruclips.net/video/tD-FdeICTJI/видео.html
+TheMissendenFlyer thanks . Your vids are very interesting . I'm just getting started with motorbikes as my legs are getting tired from pedalling my mtb..
Yes engines are definitely the way to go... :0)
but how about wind noise, second most important thing.
Great, very little noise overall, despite the peak....
great, how about wearing sun glasses, comfortable? since there is no integrated sunvisor.
No issue with glasses - I wear glasses all the time and they're very comfy in this helmet....
Arai=10
As in 10 out of 10 do you mean??
I want to say that he is the best helmet of his class without any doubt
is it a hot lid ?
Not particularly no.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer so would you still recommend it
As you’ve had it quite a while now
@@lifeontwowheels1206 100% - one of my top 3 fave lids of all time.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer okay cool guess I’ll try it out thanks for your help.
Huge problem with pinlock on this model
I've not had an issue with mine?
@@TheMissendenFlyer ah mine back to the dealer and 2 others also. Was that bad one bloke had to pull the pinlock off to get home. Never had a problem with the x3. Asked a huge seller of helmets was there a known problem with x4 and i got the nod. Lovely helmet in good weather
Great looking ridging gear, makes you look slimmer, bet the ladies like that :-)

+Thomas Elliott Curious about this. The price is ridiculous compared to what?
Thomas Elliott The price IS ridiculous, I agree.
BUT having had one of these, then gone to an AGV and become half deaf, then a piece-of-shit Spada Intrepid that gives you a splitting headache after a couple hours...
I'm going to pay that 'ridiculous' price again.
As the saying goes, 'you get what you pay for'...
Serious why is this an expensive helmet... it is normal priced for a premium helmet... ok a plastic bucket is cheaper but in an accident i rather use the Premium helmet to protect the head... protection is important...
Thumbs up for the good review!
