    I have an Arai which I use for enduro with goggles, tried it on the GS but didn't really work!
    So that's for taking the time to put this up, really helpful as I like the fit of Arai.
    Gonna order one and give it go 👍

      +stanley gardiner I guess it's all about fit but for me the X4 is by far the best helmet I've used of any style and on any bike - fit, finish, ventilation and visibility are all top notch....pricey but worth it in my view....

    Tell me about your RST gear. I'm loosing sleep on what to buy for a four season jacket Pants I'm going to buy the XD4 helmet for sure. Ive been looking at the Revit Defender Pro 2016 jacket love it just that I wouldnt be able to try one on before I bought it. I live in Minneapolis Minnesota USA so we really only get three months of what I call San diego weather

    The lens mounted vents have nothing to do with your glasses. If you open the visor you’ll notice they feed air into channels for ventilating the top and back of your head. You also omitted to mention the chin bad has an extension that allows for reduction of airflow up through the chin gap for colder weather. Lastly there was no mention of the visor distorting the field of view. This is a common complaint with many users and seems to largely depend on where the helmet sits on your head and so whether your eyes are closer to the top of the visor or further down. The distortion is most pronounced when looking down.

      I find it good optically - but not as good as my current Schuberth C5 which is crystal clear…

    Good looking helmet, I just treated myself to a HJC FS11 with a built in cheek pad air pump system, it molds the helmet to your head.

    Cheerio Mr. Flyer! Love your work.
    I was wondering if you would be so kind as to produce a review of the RST gear you wear. It looks good but I would be much more comfortable purchasing (or not) after watching one of your reviews.

      I do have a quick question does your visor have a gap around the bottom of the visor just above the chin bump because mine does and If I pour a tiny bit of water it goes right into the helmet... I'm pretty sure on the motorway I'm going to leak very badly.. wondering if mine is defective..

      @@TheMissendenFlyer I'm getting some new kit next week, its long overdue, my current Aria is probably 12 years old!
      I'm going up to Scott Leathers for a measure-up and hoping to call in and buy a helmet, possibly new boots too on the way back. I got fed up with black leathers this summer, so I'm going for a light sand colour, they might not look cool, but they'll sure as hell not heat up as much!
      Thanks for the reviews, I find it much more reasuring to hear from someone who's actually riding around, rather than a dry report from a bod in a studio. See you on the Chiltern twisties! Ride safe...

    Never had so dark of a visor on my helmets. How does it feel to ride in the evening ? Say you're running late from your after lunch spin and get to go back home in the dusk, do you feel safe, can you see s**t? Personally this is the reason I never went for such visor on my Shoei GT-Air even though it's available

    I bought one of these when I bought my Husky Nuda 900R. I sold the helmet with my GS800. Big mistake as I also used it when I had the BM S1000RR. What I did when riding this was to just remove the peak. It looked very stealthy in matt black. I found in our very hot Aussie summer the ventilation was fantastic. After seeing you recently wearing yours on a couple of your bikes I am seriously contemplating buying another one for the S1000R.🤔 Nice review again.👍🏼

    Great video - is it really that quiet? My chief concern is wind noise at motorway speeds. I'm on the same bike, but at only 5'9" so the screen offers plenty of protection. However, I do only have the stock screen...

    makes me wonder why big brands like Arai or Shoei, Schuberth don't do photochromatic visors? it would be so brilliant if worked liked those glasses we have that change intensity of colour depending on the sun. most annoying thing to me is when leave the house wearing dark visor and day turns cloudy and dull later and you can't see so well anymore or when trip is longer than planned and you fly back home in nighttime with this dark visor

  • @vstm3950
    @vstm3950 7 лет назад

    Never tried this dualsport type helmet, its sth on my list. Riding currently with Shoei GT-AIr. Always wondered is it:
    1. not too loud due to extra room inside (catching noise by the extra chin room)?
    2. not too cold on during cold days (for the same reasons as above)?
    What is your experience on this field comparing to full-face TMF?
    ps. one GREAT thing about this type helmet is if you are on far from home asia-africa type trip you can have googles in your bag and just use them if damage or break the screen

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 лет назад +3

      +Vstm Hi Vstm, good to hear from you again - I'm a huge fan of this helmet (and I wear sport type full face too from Shoei) - no extra noise that I have noticed and not noticeably colder either. What I would say is comfort is better, visibility is better and having the sun shade a real plus. I thoroughly recommend - so far the best helmet I've ever used....TMF

      @@rkr6237 very solid helmet, worth the pricetag.
      Quiet, warm in winter, pinlock works well and comfy. Very comfy. Cons: ratchet strap instead of DD ring in mine. Have had mine for 5 years now and only now got first failure (sun visor holding mechanism plastic broken) shoei will fix it for 65euro. Consider good reliability, helmet used touring style on adv bikes. Not reccomend for sports machine for this you can find more aerodynamic lids.

    Two issues with the Tour X is the faff to change the visor and any speed above 50mph makes the peak vibrate quite bad which gives you a headache after about and hour. That's on a f800gs and xt1200z so but other than that the helmet is great.

      @gordonLP 7 лет назад

      Chris K And strictly speaking during the day as well, something to do with the light transmission ratio ( I think it cannot be less than 25% or thereabouts ), whose counting anyway! Both the peak and visor can be removed for use with googles, although the side plates have to be removed with two plastic screws on each side which is a bit of a hassle when replacing the visor or peak. One other thing is the peak can be adjusted up and down slightly by just push/ pulling ( it doesn't move when riding) though.

    hi there i know its notting to do with your helmet review but can you please tell me what camera do you use and what frame rate do you shoot in?? i just bought a go pro hero 3+ and its very jumpy on my playback on a macbook pro

      I use the (cheaper :0) ) GoPro Hero 2's - shoot in 1080p and render in the same...I suspect might be a post production software issue rather than the camera hardware causing yourproblem???

    Sir, what difference between X4 with Cross 3 ?

  • @pinkiewerewolf

    Just picked up the Cover model X-4 from Revzilla here in the States. Silver camo with Florescent yellow stripes. My first Arai after many helmets. I’m looking forward to giving it a go.

    I did have a look at this helmet a wee while back but thought it would be too vented for up here in Scotland so stuck with my Shoei (didn't realise the chin-bar side vents could be closed from the inside)

    • @Dave_D
      @Dave_D 7 лет назад

      Oh! And the shape of them. The Arai I had about 20 odd years ago used to press against my forehead something chronic and would leave me with a headache after a day of riding. Not good when the first thing you should be looking for, after getting the tent up, is a beer but instead are going round all your girl friends asking if they have any aspirin! lol

    Thank you for the review. Personally I would be concerned about the "peak" acting as a lever against my neck in the event of a spill.. Also it looks better without it.
    Enjoy your vids.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  10 лет назад

      Hey Paul, thanks for commenting. The peak is actually held on by nylon screws which I understand are designed to snap off in the event of "an off" - but I take your point. Personally I like the look of the peak and having it as a sun guard this time of year is a real boon....matter of taste I guess. Glad you've enjoyed the vids so far - stay tuned! - TMF

    You say it is an expensive bit of kit. That is unrealistic and a gloss over of the price which you fail to give ANY indication of. Why do a review of a helmet without mentioning what is costs? The price is ridiculous.

      Thomas Elliott The price IS ridiculous, I agree.
      BUT having had one of these, then gone to an AGV and become half deaf, then a piece-of-shit Spada Intrepid that gives you a splitting headache after a couple hours...
      I'm going to pay that 'ridiculous' price again.
      As the saying goes, 'you get what you pay for'...

      Serious why is this an expensive helmet... it is normal priced for a premium helmet... ok a plastic bucket is cheaper but in an accident i rather use the Premium helmet to protect the head... protection is important...
