Today's Atari 2600 game from Atari Flashback Classics is Air-Sea Battle, a launch title in which you SHOOT EVERYTHING. Why? Who cares! It's fun!
Atari A to Z is a weekly series that gradually works its way through the Atari 8-bit's catalogue of games, one letter at a time. Once we get to Z, we go back to A and start all over again!

I got this as Target Fun handed down to me with a Sears Video Arcade in the 1990s. I made Master on the first attempt and Wizard shortly thereafter with a score of 79. But didn't play it much after that. I think I played game 1 at J.C. Penney with the demo they set up. I may have thought about getting this as a kid in the 1970s, but got Canyon Bomber and Breakout instead. I can believe that this and Combat were two of kids' favorites from the 1977 initial rollout or launch titles. I didn't care much for them and thought they should be retired or updated by 1980-1 since they make the system look bad compared to Intellivision.
I got Indy 500 in 1981, and that's the one launch title from 1977 I think holds up. But maybe it was more expensive since it came with its own controllers, so less people got it. Too bad it wasn't bundled with the console, since they never did a sequel or other game that used the controllers.

I never really gelled with this over Combat - at least with as a two player game. In fact, only having a loose copy as a kid, I think I never even knew that there were single player modes!
