Great video. I want to say the repeater is Canada.. not too sure as I've never used it myself, only seen other people use it Fantastic radio I have the same just minus the battery but that is on my list 73
Yup, I too like the Bioenno batteries. I have a 30ah battery that allows me to do POTA from my truck OR from a picnic bench. I run the FT-891 at 100 watts all the time and it's always good for two or more days (depending on how long I have to run the radio to make my 10-15 POTA contacts). I know your vid is primarily about the Radioddity CBL -561 but felt compelled to comment on your battery choice. I have the FT-710 for my shack radio and the FT-891 for portable.
Yes, the Bioenno batteries 🔋 are great. I have a smaller one in my go kit with the 20 watt FM/DMR VHF/UHF Retevis RT-73 transceiver in a Radioddity Box.😅 73 de W2CH Ray New Hampshire.
Nice presentation and sure looks like a legal limit antenna. Interesting comment about the 400W but you most likely said 40, I’m old. I do like the display and feature buttons on your radio better than my 891. I know this about your antenna, just saying. I will have to go back and visit both. 73
The real star of the show was the Yaesu FT710. I didn't realise how small it was, ideal for POTA and maybe even SOTA if you don't mind lugging something a little larger. I think it's time I traded in my Elecraft...
Hi Mat, nice review. Signals working mobile on 10 meters seems strong. I was stunned to see you added the FT-710 to your collection. Do you still own the FTDX-10 ? Before I got my FTDX-10 I tried the FT-710 from a friend. I prefer the size of the FTDX-10, The filtering (added the 300 Hz roofing filter which is fantastic for narrow modes on crounded bands) but I like the placement of all knobs and buttons a bit more on the FT-710. And from other users advise I believe the receiver performs well for a full SDR radio. For me the hybrid approach on the FTDX-10 (also the 101 and MP) seems a bit robuster in rejecting unwanted signals nearby. But I guess the future will lean towards SDR. In fact a decent 5 Watt SDR radio with a decent amplifier is all you need and will cost the same as f.e. the FT-710 Field. Cheers, Phil ON4VP
Cheers Phil! Yeh, I wanted a 100 watt radio I could use in the shack on 4M that was SDR, and a radio small enough for portable/mobile tests. I did have an FT-891, but that thing is so menu driven it annoyed the hell out of me. I also tried the G90, which is fantastic radio for portable/mobile, but for this test I wanted 100 watts. I really do like the 710. I dont have the FTDX-10 anymore as my main HF radio at home is now the Hermes Lite 2 with an amp. thanks again :-)
Really needs a barrel spring on that antenna being very solid formed tubing in case of antenna stikes by low objects, one thing i would change in the design. Could a 3/8 barrel spring be retro fitted? Is the antenna DC shorted? Enjoyed the video 👍
Thanks! I got it directly from Bioenno, so had to have them shipped to me here in the UK. Took a couple of weeks I think, but I guess that depends on the shipping used. Cheers and thanks for watching.
Hey, thanks for the question. I actually got mine directly from their website. It took a couple of weeks to arrive, but worth the wait for sure. Don't forget to get the charger too. I also got another smaller one at the same time. Think the parcel came via Australia, if I remember correctly.
No not yet. I really want to give this a try but currently saving up for one of those Yaesu tracking rotators :) then the fun will begin when I get one of those :)
@@TechMindsOfficial - RUclips recommended your channel a while back, and even though I'm not a radio guy, I find your content interesting. I probably will get into some kind of long distance radio communication at some point, we'll see. Thanks a lot for what you do.

Thanks from your American friend! Appreciate the video and that 710 seems to perform well with a good antenna.

The UK legal limit is now 1kW but yes it looks good!
Thanks for the comment. I said “Full 100 Watts” but I listened back and it does sound like I said 400, oooops! :)
@@TechMindsOfficial no worries but I was going ask Yeasu what was wrong with my radio. 😂thanks

I want the VG-4 antenna from Xiegu
Hi Mat, I’m curious about the Bioenno battery. I’ve not found a uk based supplier, where did you get yours?

This looks exactly like the "Texas Big Catcher" CB antenna.
Nice no 10m here we have a power cut something blow up neer the a7
Would you please share the FT710 mod to get 400 watts. Very impressive.
I said "Full 100 Watts" in the video, although it does sound like I said 400 watts. Sorry about that.
Did you do any EME moon bounce on the super moon?

@@TechMindsOfficial What antenna/power do you anticipate using for EME.? Cheers

A 1k radio I can’t afford. I think I. In the wrong place. Thanx.
grossly inferior to a 102 inch whip.
You can’t exactly drive along with a 102" whip, with this you can. Horses for courses!
@@TechMindsOfficial 'can't'... I'm thinking you meant.
