Oh my!!!..... I haven't seen this since I was in my 20's. I remember watching this on PBS and it became my favorite Mikado version to watch and listen to. I recorded the audio on crummy cassette and wore it out long ago. Thanks so much for uploading this. Now I can enjoy it again.
This is my favorite version of this opera (it's not perfect though, i don't like the singer for the mikado himself all that much) Clive Revill was the one that caught my attention when I first saw this opera, his performance made me want to watch more, and today I'm a huge fan of Gilbert and Sullivan Thank you for the upload!
I believe Conrad did Oliver Warbucks in 'Annie' onstage. But he really doesn't have what the role of the Mikado requires. And there will never be another Donald Adams. We've all been spoiled by him.
@@Patrick-tf9bl We're fortunate to have three studio representations of Donald's Mikado over a period of about thirty-five years. I just wish I had seen it in person.

Stafford Dean is a great Pooh-Bah.

I enjoyed this one back when it was originally broadcast. But I wished Donald Adams had played the Mikado here, William Conrad can't sing.

I do agree Donald Adams should have played The Mikado instead of William Conrad.
