    I remember drivers saying that they thought it was their birthday when they got back off their break to find a RA bus waiting for them (no clutch ) R264 .

    RA26 (In this vid) had a very long lifespan in service New to Donnybrook garage in March 1959 transferred to Clontarf Depot in May 1976 & eventually scrapped in August 1982 (Great buses)

      Keep up the great work on buses ....luv to see more on D" bus! When we got the 2 x doors one near driver & emergency (door middle) but was used when the bus was over full ...people standing up downstairs, bottle to bottle haa!! Pushed against each other, but decent drivers made sure everyone wud get on @ the stop in the freezing cold!! 🥶 and ⛈☂️... I never seemed have a problem all good hard working crew .

    The RA type was semi automatic - far more comfortable, no doubt, to drive and to get through the city .... unlike the older Leyland Titan crash-gear models 😀

      Thiught that RA type was a Titan also.

      @@Fcutdlady Yes the RA's were Leyland Titans just had a semi Auto gearbox.

    Too many cars in the city these days & the predestination lights are situated too close to one another, that's why buses are late today.

    Nice to see the RA type bus. Traffic was busy enough even in 60s Dublin. The Bus drivers job was stressful enough even back then with plenty of hazards to watch out for. These buses were heavy, including the steering and required a fair amount of strength to handle for an 8 hour shift.
