“Don’t overtighten because you are working with plastic” these little nuggets of knowledge are great for those with little DIY experience.
If you depress the gray flange with a finger on the connector you don't need to use a screwdriver. As usual, many ways to accomplish a task. Great video.
I learn new car and here in m157 everything is so complicated 🙈.
Thanks again.
Well, you're in the right place, check out my line about 212 videos.
Congrats on the car!
Used this video to change my air filters, thank you.
Nice work. Well done 👏
Great video. Will do mine soon as well.
Just used this video to swap out to some K&N filters in my GLS63. Excellent tutorial, only took a little time to disconnect the back air sensor on the GLS that is tucked away in the back.
Man the old filters were gunked with bugs / leaf garbage… this beast can breathe once again!
My car no joke picked up 0.3 seconds on the 0-60 time after changing then
@@ExoticCarDIY thats crazy!!
How can I test 0-60 on my own? Do I need a module?
@@jonnyfreshtv6598 get a "draggy" device. They are like 150 bucks, but you can find them used for like 50.
Easy to use, very accurate and fun to play with.
Those "bugs" were dead engineers. Reinstall live ones from your local dealer (not cheap). 🙂
This worked like a charm. Thank you sir.
Awesome, glad it helped!
Helpful for the ml63
Nice!
Perfect, thanks brother
You're welcome!
Thank you Sir!
You're welcome, happy to see people working on their own cars
Do I need a retune on stock 157 for resonator removal? Just curious.
Curious why you didn’t use K&N filters? Hundred bucks from eBay. Just got mine and will install them today after watching your thorough video so thank you for taking the time to share 😎👍🏼
I've run K&n And pretty much every car I've owned in the last 20 years.
I went back and forth, and I may still install them in this car. But I recently read an article that actually used to scientific process instead of just hearsay, it was very convincing about truly how poor K&N's actually filter.
@@ExoticCarDIY so I just finished installing K&N filters after watching your video on how to earlier today. Stock filters were filthy and when dealer replaced battery I imagine they left the red n black covers that go over terminals in one of the air boxes. Luckily it was not on the top side to where it could have been sucked through. This really makes me wanna change my own engine oil for peace of mind to know there’s plenty in there. I purchased warranty for the car for 24k miles or 24 months and I also purchased the first three major dealer recommended services at 70k 80k and 90k. Car currently has 63k. I’m changing the engine oil every either 3500 or 5000 miles. They said every 8 which sounds waaaaay too long of intervals. Anyways thanks again for your vids and I can’t wait to see the one where you change the engine oil.
Nice videos bud!! 🤙🏼 I have W212 E63 2013 , I want to change the filters also , but my car was serviced 5 days ago! My question is K&N filters are good for this car?
Thanks Vlad
@@IsMrZ I noticed smoother acceleration but no huge power gains but stock filters were filthy on mine so you can decide on those factors. Price is 100 American dollars so not bad at all. I will keep my eye on them after 500 miles or so since I don’t drive down dirt roads and will add little miles on car since it’s not my daily. Hope this helps you
@@gillypig1 thank you for reply 🙏🏼 brother! , I will buy them here in UK , and install them myself also! Also what I want to do is start changing my engine oil myself on my E63 , what oil you recommend? LIQUI MOLY / CASTROL OR MOBILE 1 , I know that here in UK MB dealership use mobile 1
Hello mate. Do you have any video that show how to clean the throttle body on M157 engine? Thanks
Good idea, I haven't got to that point online yet, but I'd like to make one where I clean the throttle body and the heat exchanger
@@ExoticCarDIY Thanks mate, I will wait for your updated video and do mine afterwards.
Hey man, thanks for the video! Have you also disconnected the battery prior to connectors? Cheers
Not for this job
@@ExoticCarDIY Thanks, appreciate it. I have the exact same spec btw :) Red 2014 w212 e63s. Have a great week!
@@martinsokol3527 did you just get it? There's was one for sale with CCB ... So nice
@@ExoticCarDIY nope, I have it since last year, in Europe:) watching your channel helped me to decide, whether to even buy it lol
Thanks for the vid. What is the reservoir in the middle?
That's for the heat exchanger for cooling the air going into the engine. I think 2014+ have a separate system will previous years shared the coolant with the engine coolant.
If yours doesn't have it, it can be retrofitted on there.
@@ExoticCarDIY Awesome, thank you!
Hi,
Can you do tutorial how to clean Air Mass flow sensors?
Many thanks Vlad
Fortunately, the m157 does not have a mass air flow sensor.
@@ExoticCarDIY oops , well I just don't know whats the problem I have , I thought it was air mass flow sensors or battery or maybe starter. So when I start the car sometimes very rarely I press start button and the car lights up the on the dash and can't start the engine is like struggling, similar to when you have battery dead that kind of sign , I can make a video but the problem is I don't know when It will happen again 🤣, do you have any suggestions what I could do?
Many thanks Vladislav Gerasimovskiy
@@ExoticCarDIYalso I see that my eco is not working its always yellow and never becomes green so maybe is the battery, and can you recommend what battery I can buy for my W212 E63 AMG 2013
@@IsMrZECO mode being unavailable is a giveaway, its the battery! I always like to start with the easy stuff when trouble shooting. There are two batteries in a w212 e63, one for starting and the other for electronics. one could be on its way out. check grounds and connections.
Any other symptoms? could be related if there are.
@@ExoticCarDIY the small battery in the trunk I changed 1 year ago from MB dealer, but the main one under the hood I never changed since I bought the car in 2018 end of the year, so I believe also is the main battery , and could you advise me on what battery to buy? I live in UK 🇬🇧
Other simptomes I don't see anymore... just that "for now"
All this applies to the M278 engine as well.
Awesome, good to know
I just purchased a 2013 gl63 amg will this be the same method to change mine? Sorry I'm really new on Benz..
Yes, should be exactly the same. Enjoy the car!
@@ExoticCarDIY do I need a special tools to open the intake box or just regular Phillips screwdrivers??
@@ernanv24 flat head and T25 torx bit
This is the most ridiculous air filter change I have seen thus far. German over-engineering that makes it impossible for a non-DIY person to do a quick and easy change - I bet it was initially easy, until the bean counters came and said 'but we want the customer to come to the dealer for this and charge them".
Agreed, that's why I make these videos 😎
