My wife was supposed to be teaching in Beam hall today but she's sick and cancelled her early class. So thankful she was home when this happened. So many people in this world are just one level above rock bottom and just need one thing to set them off (like not getting hired for this job). We need to be better for each other but we are too selfish and will never realize that in the end, being better for each other is better for us. Condolences to the families of those lost.

Define "better" for each other. Do you mean give each other whatever we want, or else? The responsibility for what happened here lies with one person, the shooter. He didn't get what he wanted, so he killed innocent people. Are they to blame for their own deaths? Maybe they should've been "better" to him.

as a las vegas resident im so glad we have a police department that is this brave to actually do their job thank you metro and all other departments that jumped into action and possibly saved many more lives my condolences go to the families of the victims this is so sad

Worse, employers have taken advantage of the basic nature of women. Hence, the displacement of men over women in the workforce.

Last week I kept getting calls from my son’s Highschool about a weapon on campus. Then the next day about a possible threat of violence. My son texted me about how they are all being searched and are being taken to different rooms etc. I was an hr away and felt so helpless. I ended up keeping him home on the threat of violence day. I can say that there is nothing worse then having your child at school and hearing that there could possibly be a shooting!! I can’t not even fathom getting that call or finding out that my child went to school one day and didn’t come home. I am so sorry to all the people involved. All the people traumatized by this selfish person!! Sending love and support to everyone. Praying this stops!! 😢❤🙏🏽💙
This is the world in which we live. It is not the weapon. Did we have this issue prior to recent times? Yes, it has always been part of the human existence, but maybe not at this level in recent times. You can’t blame guns. Guns have been more accessible in earlier times. I am presently in job search since the ending of August this year. I too have been rejected by many employers, but I don't go about hurting people due to rejection. All he had to do was to go apply somewhere else. It is possible that he showed signs of mental illness, but that should not be an exculse to go and hurt other people.

As a worker for SSA, you'd be surprised by how much these older folks receive and are expected to live off of. He's absolutely insane for taking such heinous acts and i will not take way from that. A lot needs to be changed in this world. Resources that could help citizens are used and given elsewhere. Many of us are a paycheck away from loosing it mentally but still won't take these measures. I come across cases daily where I'm such an empathetic and sympathetic person that i can't do anything to help. Prayers to the victims.

You're assuming a lot. You don't know about his financial situation, he's been a Professor for his entire career and considered himself semi retired, that's a pretty lucrative position compared to other positions. For someone to kill other teachers and or Professors seems more personal to me I'd be interested to know what was in his resume or past teaching experience that might contribute to why they chose not to hire him. Perhaps that information will be revealed as more information comes out. I'm sorry for everyone that lost their lives, their families left to grieve their loss, their students, first responders and the entire community. As a parent and grandparent I can't imagine getting a call or text as a result of this situation, I truly feel for parents that are in another state that had to agonize over how to get there to console their kid with little information on the victims at the time. Just a heartbreaking situation all around.

I’m normally not on campus on Wednesdays, but I was yesterday because of a showcase I had to attend in the student union. Minutes after everything started, I was leaving the 2nd floor via elevator and then walked out of the SU when a fellow student instructed me to go back inside. So I did, and I found safety, but boy was it scary. What really made my heart drop was getting active campus updates and seeing one about 10 minutes in that there was reports of shots fired in the SU. Along with hearing, what ended up being officers, trying to break through the door and doing a sweep. I couldn’t see anything because I was in a locked office, but hearing them is something I’ll never forget. To my fellow Rebels, their families, and anyone else impacted, I hope you’re doing better today, and doing what you need to heal and process. ❤

I went for an interview many years ago and was rejected for the position. I knew I wasn't going to get the job due to her "wet noodle" intro handshake. The company was "Bear Stearn"...I didn't need to retaliate for the rejection...God will handle things in his own way. Instead landed a job at Morgan Stanley, instead. When one door closes another opens. No need to take matters in your own hands.

I’m born and raised in Las Vegas and I’m a graduate of UNLV. My condolences goes out to the victims families. This incident has made me extremely angry and sad. People have absolutely no coping skills today. Things in life never work out exactly like you want them to, but that’s not an excuse to commit violence against innocent people. I love Las Vegas and UNLV and we will get through this together

According to the newscast, no students were harmed, at least physically. The mental anguish will remain. That's not to say it's okay that anyone died, but at least get the full story. As a 55YO woman, I am OUTRAGED that a 67YO went on a killing spree because he had a temper tantrum about a job he couldn't get! There were obviously some unaddressed behavioral/mental/psychological/whateverelseyouwannacallit issues he had, and this was the result of them. My heart goes out to the families of those who suffered, and I hope justice is swiftly brought to this matter.
67- he obviously has been experiencing some discrimination because of his age in trying to obtain employment. Not a valid reason to shoot people.

I went to physical therapy the physical therapist was here illegally from Canada earning 15 years ago $100k a year and his wife was a physical therapist American citizen so he was able to wait for payment instead of paycheck to paycheck. Higher educated people from Northern and southern borders. I tried getting my benefits once not able to work because of injury. Was denied because someone used my stolen SS number made $7900 in three months . They go by quarterly income the previous year. I called the number and it was a Dental lab where whoever it was working. Nothing I could do. So always have a financial plan and a BACK UP.
It was unlikely that the gunman would target the students. It seems like the shooting was a retaliation by the gunman for being rejected by the school after he had applied for a position there.
