Use with ropes from 8.9mm to 11mm
Anyone over 88lbs can use the device as a belayer
There is no official weight limit or minimum weight differential.
I hope it has some optimized geometry that the rope is more unlikely to get into the grooves when the lead climber pulls up the rope quickly for clipping.
With the Ohm the belayer has to have enough slack, that the rope runs into the device from directly under the device.
If the climber pulls ups the rope quickly and the belayer isn't fast enough to avoid a certain angle for the rope feeding into the device, the rope bites into the groove and as a climber you have to pull against the friction added. Very much frustrating.
On the other hand: Let people who clip too early climb with the rope - it teaches you to not pull much rope for clipping ;)
When the clip is at least at shoulder height, there is no problem with the Ohm.
Ah, yeah, when lowering getting the thing out of the wall again.
I hope I can try this new version soon :)
Great overview
thanks!
Sighs as a 250 lbs climber that just got the Ohm 1 last December.
