I literally spent an hour trying to figure out how to do it because I didn’t want pay for a mechanic. I decided to search on RUclips and THANK YOU! This video helps ALOT
same hard to belive its held by friction and the red tab is not a retaining clip, literally have to force it off and you dont want to do that for fear of breaking it
Thank you, Nate! I was shocked at how easy this is, I also saw people taking the whole damn thing apart so I wasn't really excited about doing that 😂 you're a lifesaver!
The "check brake light" came on, and I consulted the manual. It said you had to completely unscrew and pull out the whole assembly. Well, those screws were way too tight, so I resolved to go to the mechanic next week. Upon second thought, I googled "change brake light on 2016 Kia Optima" and your video was the first to come up. You explained how to do it the extremely easy way. Brake light is fixed and I don't have to shell out $$$ for a mechanic. Thank you so much!
Yeah. I saw some of those videos. They probably have never changed a light bulb and then the dealer uses that as an excuse to charge more. Taking the tail light off is in the owners manual. 🤦♂️
Thank you for this video! I know next to nothing about cars but I was able to change the bulb easily instead of waiting hours for the dealership to do it!
on the '16 optima, theres 4 taillight bulbs, the ones on the outer edges (brake lights) and the ones closer in, under the trunk lid. "inner"......which bulb is the "inner" taillights ?

Nate, do you happen to know what a good LED replacement bulb would be for these tail ilghts? We replaced them on my lady's 2016 kia optima but her dash screen always reports there's a problem with her brake lights, even though they're working. I'm guessing it's the voltage or wattage, but pretty sure the package showed 12v 5w!
@@natethegreat974 No thank you 🙏 sorry I just seen your message you saved my neck on this one I thought I was gonna have to take the nuts 🔩 off and remove the light because I just unplugged the first part I didn’t know the whole white plug came off so yeah your the fuckin’ man and thats the bottom line! (Stone cold Steve Austin voice) lmao 🤣
But what about the Chinese knock off model? The front end is a Kia but the backend is from a car where the country it was made in doesn't exist anymore.

Thank you. Other videos on here with people taking the screws out of the whole light unit. Followed your video, and had it done without a single tool.

I removed the old light bulb but how do you get the new light bulb to secure in place?

Yep gave up and 100 dollars later the light is fixed. The repair man laughed at me. So embarrassing.
@@natethegreat974lol nope. No tabs.
its just a connector. the red piece just keeps it in place.
