All you did.... well at least he did that. He is attempting to modernize for today's competitions or real-life encounter. Have to start somewhere and although I do not train Kenpo I applauded the progression and the attempt. I have only seen a couple of your videos so far but as of yet all I see and hear is you standing there and being negative. I'd very much enjoy seeing you demonstrate your ideas. Don't just complain and down actually show how you would fix all these issues. If you're going to tell others they are wrong then you should have the honor enough to actually show us how you would do them, I am assuming you think you have those answers. Put on that black belt you worship and teach us. No disrespect, and I am not being mean or negative I truly expect when I see someone being negative all the time, they should actually show the skills they claim no one they watch has.

The problem is, most people are afraid to get hit in the face.
As my traditional Wing Chun Grandmaster taught me: "You have to be willing to practice your techniques without fear. You will get hit, and you will continue to get hit, until you trust yourself with the art you practice. Until that happens, you will just look like a terrible kickboxer." He was right. I've continued to practice Wing Chun in this fashion for 31 years, along with other arts the same way. Practice while getting hit. Your subconscious is more intelligent and reactionary than we are, because it removes the fear, and moves us without thought. Once we train it, we have it, much like driving a car on a busy road. You don't have to like Mr. Speakman's ideas of what works. That's his path in what works for him. Just like Jeet Kune Do is what worked for Bruce Lee.
You should find your own path, without feeling the need to discredit other people. The founder of Aikido got hit frequently until he mastered his ideas, and after that, his students claimed they could no longer touch him. Training your subconscious and removing the fear will always be more important than what style or styles you practice.

I don't know too much about Speakman's system but I understand that he added more ground work and weapon work(like some dojos working Kali into their curriculum) and I think its a step in the right direction. Ed Parker kept adapting his art over time and adding things that worked and removing what didn't and Speakman continues in that direction unlike other teachers who do things how they learned from Parker back in the day(From before the techniques when training was like traditional karate, to the 80s with techniques and more boxing and Judo influence) and calling everyone else wrong. I don't like technique extensions either but that applies to all disciplines of American Kenpo based arts and it is what it is. I also like the mma style sparring and wish Kenpo style would adopt it, or even Kyokushin style sparring. All of this is why I like GM Zach Whitson's style the most where his system involves sparring with techniques and weapons, training how to use/defend against weapons, and grappling using the fluidity and compunding of Kenpo and Kali. This is just an opinion from a Tracy's Kenpo black belt who moved on to American Kenpo
Edit: What style of Kenpo do you train in?

two reasons you block comment on You Tube -1- you don't like reading negative comments from trolls. -2- you know that what you say or do on video will draw in trolls. I agree it, too me, is weak and questionable when you block comment. It is a sure sign you question what you're doing is real and accurate or your ego can't handle a bashing needed or not. On the other hand, it is his channel and if his ego can't handle a slap or two it is well within his right to hide away from others' views, weather they are legit or not. I get it, I get some really unwarranted, in my view, and nasty comments from time to time. Sometimes it would just be easier to block them all. But if I did that, I show I am unwilling to possibly admit what I am doing needs adjustment or isn't what others think. I do what I do and what others think or do is none of my concern, but I do want honest conversation with others that disagree with me. some however, cannot conceive of others not agreeing and when they do, don't want to hear it.

Remember, UFC is a sport so there’s rules if you feel so strongly about what you’re saying why don’t you go down to Speakman schools in spar with some of his advanced black belt students and then make a comment video and see how well that does you. My big question to you is what have you done to try to find an answer since you say that Mr. Speakman did not do that. It’s easy to criticize and look at what other people are doing and make comments but what would you do. Like I said, it’s easier to criticize than to either test your theory or do something to come up with an answer if you think you can do better. In fighting it’s not about your style it’s about you. Are you able to apply what you know in the street I’m not disrespecting any UFC fighter because they are trained in the things that they do but so are Kemple people and other martial artist if you can fight you can fight if you can’t, you can’t. There are no rules in the street you can’t base one’s ability based off of UFC fighting because again it is a sport don’t get me wrong. Those guys are good fighters as well but you cannot base a real street fight based off of what you see in the UFC that cannot be your measuring point.

you can not compare Kenpo or Kempo to a UFC fighter because all UFC fighters would eat up any Kenpo or Kempo black belt. no contest.
