  • Z'ing the frame on a 2001 ford ranger and modifying it to fit a 1966 f100 how to Z a frame Part 1 I start off measuring the frame and where I want to put my cut and cut and relocate the k member section higher so that it fixes the camber on my suspension to align the steering angles better

    We do Z, L and straight cuts on semi trucks but all three cuts always receive a short section of frame inside for a double frame. We stretch semi trucks and have never had a failure, but I'd never trust any frame splice without a second inner frame piece, not a pickup or semi

      It has to have a gusset on both sides on truck frame to strengthen it. That’s just for half ton

    Wouldn't this technically extend the wheel base?

      Not when the front section is also cut at reverse angle to keep core support holes correct. I wanted to extend my wheel forward .5 inches so slanted it more than usual to center the wheel bettee
