This very scenic trip along the east side of the Hudson River begins going southbound on NY 9D below Beacon. The two lovely villages that NY 9D passes through are Cold Spring and Garrison. Between Cold Spring and Garrison one would be directly across the Hudson River from West Point (US Military Academy) At approximately 20:00 the Bear Mountain Bridge is on the right and the trip then goes onto US 6 and US 202 which run concurrently at this point for the winding ride into Peekskill. At approximately 26:30, US 6 and 202 eastbound join together briefly with US 9 southbound at the roundabout. This trip went through Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester Counties.
Wow! That's some beautiful countryside, although I would have found it to be lonely and isolated-looking when I was younger.
